I love it when the toilet seat is up because I can't help but imagine a large team of guys in protective gear running into the house, closing the toilet seat, and running out.
I love to think that exact same thing, but instead of a toilet lid, it's a chair with the intruder in the kitchen. Like, they just kinda rush past him, push the chair back in, and then storm out, just to storm back in like 3 seconds later for the intruder.
after actually playing this game, it's pretty evil. Really, the most clever trick they pull is a camera is missing and forcing you to double check if one is down.
Got the franchise bundle prior to the release of 6....

I love this game so much, it goes against the traditional horror setup of “creepy place, creepy sounds, pop up scare” it’s just “focus, doubt yourself, THERES A !!HUGE MAN!!”

Nothing beats 14:36 where they saw the head in the toilet, marked it as an intruder, it said "anomaly fixed", and it was still there
I've rewatched that scene over and over, STILL don't know where the intruder was. Chills man. Love this game
The intruder appeared when they were looking at other cameras, after they filed the report... quite a lucky coincidence, I must say! The intruder looks very weird... someone in the comments described it as a mutated baby and I think its the closest way to put it into words.

The one real breakdown with this game is, the longer you don't notice an anomaly, the harder it is to see.
Anything that isn't literally staring you in the face, will quickly fade into the background.
Like, they consistently failed out even when me and an entire room of people couldn't find a single other anomaly.
Also its sometimes unclear how to identify things.
Also also it was really annoying that the intruder counted as "balcony" when you could only see him from the living room.
I actually think the idea of things being in one room but only visible from another is kinda genius.
It forces you to try and piece together the layout of the house, and makes it feel like an actual place instead of just a sequence of disconnected rooms.
Yea, they never noticed that the number of pills on the table changed. And I think when they finally thought to take note of them the number had already changed.
I mean, the whole point of the game is to play mindgames with you and fuck with your perception of reality. It might not be the best at communicating it's mechanics but it's genius in forcing you to think outside the box and making you question your sanity. You can only trust the information you take in towards the beginning of the night. The big scares are meant to disorient you and make the small stuff slip through the cracks. The reporting mechanism is janky and forces you to sit and wait with the anxiety of not knowing whether you're right or not, and the moment when it says no anomaly found you know you've lost the plot. I really like this game conceptually, though I'll concede that the execution isn't 100% perfect.
Think the fact that not noticing an anomaly means that you think it's normal makes it creepier and cooler. Uses your own perception against you to create an atmosphere of unease ('were there always five chairs here!?')
That’s not a breakdown, it’s a challenge mechanic. They expect you to have to work hard to get to know the maps before the game gets easy
The truly unsettling thing was when they reported an intruder in the bathroom and it WASN'T the head in the sink. Which means there was an intruder they DIDN'T see not including the obvious head. I HATED that.
I did like how Arin picked up on the "Balcony, three thirty" voice
this game is so delightful but it insights a pants-shitting style fear into my brain in the comfort of my own home, well done
I get the silence being part of the game, but the editors actually picked some choice ambient scary music for their playthrough of the first game

@@elijoseph5256 I saw someone say in another comment that apparently a baby appears as an intruder in the bathroom, and people seem to be theorizing that immediately after Arin sent that report and clicked away to other cameras, the baby appeared. That's the only thing anybody can seem to come up with... that they got VERY lucky. But there are a couple moments in the new house episode where they fix an anomaly they're sure of, and when they go back what they reported it for is still there. So I have no clue lmao this game has me baffled.
@@Snugglebit I think that's right. The game doesn't seem to process the anomaly reported until it actually finishes pending the report, and then in that moment checks to see if there's an anomaly of that type in the room. Since one of that type spawned in the room when the report was pending, when it checked the room, it saw the anomaly they'd reported and fixed it, leaving the one they *thought* they were fixing. I like that, though, it fucks with you a little!

There's an anomaly in the first game, second house, called Giant Man that I got every play through and I was so disappointed that they never got it! It scared the shit out of my partner and I the first time we saw it

My headcanon is that the anomalies are parallel universes collapsing in on each other, and that you work for some kind of organization that works to fix those issues in certain places where the boundaries between worlds are weaker

This is definitely one of my top five favorite games they've ever played. The games where they can't get distracted and talk about some nonsense (there are plenty of other videos if I want Grump nonsense) but there's something so enjoyable about how focused they get. It gets me really into it, too.
Loved this series, this game makes me think that in the Observation universe there’s just a bunch of freelance security officers or random contracted college students that work for home security companies like Nest and those pet cams and whatnot. Idk it’s a weird head canon I have.
It still surprises me that they accidentally got the intruder in the bathroom of the first game... without seeing it... so for you guys who have no clue what happened there... There is an intruder that spawns there... and it looks like a nude mutated baby... but like... it has it's back up to the camera
I paused at 14:00 and I took a screenshot and compared it to 14:36, and I see NO difference. Where the hell is the intruder?

There’s an Easter egg if you go to the balcony at 3:30. You get a new anomaly report and if you enter ‘2013’ then you get a secret ending.

I don't know if anyone put it yet but for the first Observation Duty, at 1:00am if you pick thr little blinking light - at 3:30 am go to the balcony, go to report, go to input type in 2013, you'll see a surprise - a little creepy but it explains Observation Duty 2: Timothy's Revenge

Honestly, the biggest pet peeve I have with watching gameplay of this series is when the players report an anomaly and accidentally get it right, but they have no idea what the anomaly was because they immediately changed cameras after the report.

I knew that this series would do well. It has so much potential. Right up there with the dating sim games that are absolute gems. It's sort of like that one game where it was just the man in a fedora walking around his house and swearing along with Five Nights At Freddy's. Ben something I think it was called. I'm sure someone knows what I mean.
