Mikkel Kessler is, in fact, a former top Middleweight boxer from Denmark. And yes, the song was written as fight music to accompany his ring entrance. The story is that Kessler was a known fan of the band and the lead singer is a big boxing fan, so he wrote this song for Kessler.

I should add that on occasion Volbeat performed the song live as Mikkel entered ring.

Mikkel Kessler (born March 1, 1979 in Copenhagen) is a former Danish professional boxer nicknamed "The Viking Warrior" and former two-time WBA & WBC Super Middleweight Champion.
Kessler has been a professional boxer since March 20, 1998 and has an impressive 46-3-0 record (35 of which are by knockout). He started boxing in the junior-middleweight weight class, but has slowly moved up to super-middleweight (not over 76.204 kg). On February 1, 2015, Mikkel Kessler announced that he was ending his career as a professional boxer.

Shoutout to Ian, not only for this one but going back to The Devil's Bleeding Crown, which I'm pretty sure was my introduction to this channel.
Mikkel Kessler is an actual boxer, though retired. The song was written as a tribute, and apparently he's even in the vocals (the "Fight!" chant). I think he's also been onstage for this song on at least one occasion, but don't know if he used it for any fights (between 2010 and 2013).
Also, though likely no one will believe this, I actually predicted the score. 😁

All hail the chubby fuzzy snuggle bunny. I got one of those too, the other is a wirey troublemaker. This was my introduction to Volbeat. Aside from the driving nature of the song(which I always seem to enjoy), it was the vocals that stood out the most. It’s not a vocal style you hear in most rock bands, which at the time was kind of refreshing.

You need to listen to Volbeat - The Sacred Stone... It has a GHOST vibe. And they have been touring together this past year! Volbeat is always at the top of my playlist. "7 Shots" and "Hangman's Body Count" are couple of my faves! Just love Micheal Polsen's voice and Jon Larson is a phenomenal drummer! ❤ So motivational!

This crazy cat jump. From the beginning, it seemed to me that this one flew by some kind of pillow. It was only when I saw David pick up this adorable cat that I calmed down. It's a cool song because it's Volbeat
