I remember hearing about that in the news. I live in Selinsgrove, so we get much less lake effect snow, still sometimes we get a surprise snow squall. Lake effect snow is weird, it can suddenly snow really hard for about a half hour then stop, even snow above 40 degrees sometimes.
The National Weather Service said those totals were absolutely wrong and they adjusted it significantly! They depended on independent spotters who took wrong measures. This info needs to be adjusted

The most we had in a 2 day period in my part of Pa. was around 40 inches I believe. It could snow 9 months out of the year and it wouldn’t bother me.
