I grew up in Oswego county and moved downstate after college. People panic here over the threat of a couple of inches of snow. It makes me chuckle every time.
I went to college here and remember Lake Effect snow, thundersnow, and needing high boots to tuck my jeans in so they didn’t get soaked on my way to class! Nothing like seeing a plow come down the sidewalks on the way to a 9:30 class. You get used to it, and it becomes the norm.
Lived through these storms, real nice city, Lake Ontario is special, but these storms, them I can no longer handle.Learned to prep as a kid, still storm prep. used to rate storms by how much booze I will need A 4 case,4 quart, 2 gallon wine, that is a big storm.
I was looking at how affordable homes are on Zillow there and wondered why homes are so cheap....after watching this video now I know. As tempting as the home prices are there, i'll stay in Florida. All that freaking snow....I just can't! 🥶
I was there for the Blizzard of 78. The center Courtyard of Cayuga dorm completely filled up with snow. There were 16 foot drifts on the college campus and the town shut down except for the great Laker bar it was packed people walked for miles there's nothing else to do. You couldn't see a car and walk right into it it was that snowy nobody was driving
Snow, snow, and more snow! I used to love it when it snowed, but now, since I have to shovel out Properties whenever it snows, I absolutely hate it! I don't mind watching it snow, it's the shoveling part that gets me! Oh, well... whatever will be, will be...

Oswego coldest place I ever lived. And some of the warmest people I ever met. I still remember names 50 years later
It's strange, I miss a good upstate NY lake effect snow storm, but I also don't miss a good upstate NY lake effect snow storm.
lived in Oswego for 10 years. don't ever miss it. do miss the people though.
I lived in Oswego the first 22 years of my life. I remember a similar storm in December 1958. I am nostalgic.
$2.56 for unleaded!? That's it, I'm moving, never mind the snow...

Nice I lived in Cayuga in '92. We had some good ones but never like that.
Went to school there from 76-80. Amazing winters. I remember jumping off the roof of Lonis Hall into those 15 foot snow drifts.
Toronto is on the lake but never gets this much snow , a big snowfall for Toronto is 4 to 6 inches
That’s because the prevailing winds over the lake run west to east so the moisture gets picked up and dumped as snow on the east side of the lake.
Winter weather survival kit? You mean gloves, a hat and jacket?
