My parents were both labor union organizers. I'm happy that my fellow brothers, sisters, and NBs are organizing. I hope to use my art to help others. Whoever you are, Solidarity forever, for the union makes us strong.
You released this video on the very day I attended the Scottish Trade Union Congress, funnily enough there was an anarcho-communist stand which had lots of memorabilia from the IWW, one of which I now own. I also gave a speech. Solidarity Forever comrades!
Excellent as always. May I suggest you play the "Himno de Riego"? It's a song that was popular among Spanish liberals in the 1800s and was used as the national anthem of the second Spanish Republic.
absolute banger as always. i think you should give phil ochs' "The War is Over" a go. Not many existing covers of it and feel you could definitely do it justice since you have quite a powerful voice.
Ooooo another classic! Good work! I've been listening to a lot of Daniel Khan recently and I think you'd like his music. The songs "Freedom Is a Verb" and "Arbeter Froyen" are particularly good imo ;)
Awesome!! One coolest US marches and catchiest lyric by Peete Seeger, I see you slowed down the beat of the song, definitely makes your more version unique. Absolutely epic! also would be funny if you figure out how to play when money comes marching home, shouldn't be too hard for you since you already know how to play When Johnny Comes Marching Home, lol.
I found your site about three months ago and liked it so much that I immediately subscribed. Too much of this kind of music and tradition is being deliberately lost, and whenever I run across it I have hope that it still survives, revive and have an impact in the future; especially when it is as well sung and played by someone of your talent. I have to take solace the closest my musical abilities will get to yours is the fact that we share the Sabo-Tabby profile picture. And that, along with being able to listen to your music is all I need. Thank you.
This may be the best version of one of my favourite songs ever. When i'll get married on fay , i would like somebody to sing that and play it on the piano
Awesome like always Jack! I would love to hear your take on a combination of "hold the fort" and german socialist song "Brüder seht die Rote Fahne" ( Like this from Hannes Wader ruclips.net/video/CXAFskHMqPA/видео.html) some day maybe! :)
I have another recommendation/request to add to your never-ending list: Amis raus aus Vietnam by Münchner Songgruppe. ruclips.net/video/VxZUwHsj7CY/видео.html I can write an English translation of the lyrics if so.
This was a socialist song? Man it seems like many of these popular songs have had their original meanings changed slowly over the years because if these are the original lyrics no way would the American government allow it to be around.
The US has a very rich history of socialist labor movements that is sadly rarely comprehensively taught in schools, if acknowledged at all. For example, today is May 1st, known to many as International Workers Day (or May Day). The United States does not officially celebrate May Day - president Grover Cleveland signed a bill that instead gave us Labor Day in September, a date with much less significance to labor than May 1st, which held relevance to many as a remembrance of the Haymarket Affair only a few years earlier. During the second Red Scare, President Eisenhower in 1958 made “Loyalty Day” a national holiday to be observed on May 1st in the US, and is still annually recognized by the federal government. There is a whole world of socialist labor history in the USA that is sadly unknown to many
@@Evan-ix5pv huh, in the uk May Day is not officially celebrated though a bank holiday sometimes falls on the day if it’s the first Monday of may (which is kind of insulting if you ask me)
Sad to see workers getting abused and taken advantage of by greedy bosses, may the workers Union prevail!
