I got the RFZ 70 and @ 175 lbs it wont break. Literally took it to the top of a mountain. I tried to break it the first couple months I had it on purpose. The rear brake lever has tacos so many times and I just bend it back without any issue. Tires and brake shoes is all it needed replaced. I actually love the little guy so much that I stripped it down to the bare frame and painted it with a Japanese quality base coat/clear coat. New rims and plastic. 😊 I thought for sure those 10 inch rims weren't going to hold up but with some HD spokes this thing has surprised the hell out of me. I bought mine in Phoenix from a place that has them on a floor. You can check them out before you even purchase. No shipping $. Sick
It's just cool that you can still get 1 of these and another backup 1 for cheaper than a new name brand bike. Fiancée & I each got a 110 Apollo, and pre-ordered a SYX Roost as backup or for friends to tag along. I think if you're just weekend riding or out screwing around at the campsite, these are great. Not when you start getting into motocross and more serious "long day trip" type stuff, where being broken down far from help can be a concern. (not that "good" bikes don't break down, too, though).
It's a beginner's dirtbike. It's not made for real torture rough riding. You got what you ask for. I take care of all my dirtbike and do preventative maintenance daily 💯👍

If your not thrashing this thing and just riding around town and in the woods is it good? I’m not going to be hitting jumps or anything but wondering if it’ll make it last longer and perform better over all. Or does it even matter
Overall great bikes for the price. I never had any major issues. Never had shifting issues. I will say the the cheap pieces that are a issue are chains, chain guides, and the small wheels are weak. Get a true big wheel kit 16/19. I did hard trail riding on mine as well and always held up my buddy worked on his xr200 as much as I did the pit bike. All the problems are cheap easy fixes. 125cc engines are under powers but with the 16/19 big wheels and a Daytona 190cc engine with 24hp you can run with just about anything because of the power to weight ratio.
I remember checking out you channel because of the RFZ. To be honest I just got tired of constantly working on it instead of riding so i sold it and got myself a crf125f big wheel !
@@andreidan92 ngl I like working on my apollo...my apollo is what got me into motors bc my dad is a machanic but never has time to work on my dirtbike so. But imma check out some different options now that you said that. I haven’t rode in probably 10 years so when I saw it I was like “holy cow!” But thanks for the advice imma probably go with something else if ya recommend if
Why you recommend japanese bikes even when they are not made in Japan anymore and has same china made parts in them but cost is 3x more for the bike and most of the parts. I cant see why Honda is 3x better. Seen rfz ran 90hours and in perfect condition. I think it is lots of quality in 1kilo. PS. As a prev Honda owner I would choose new rfz over used Honda any day all year long.
I know this video is 2 years old but I actually just bought an Apollo 250 back in April. I had to replace the battery, I had to pull the electric starter compartment apart and there was a bunch of metal shaving in it so I cleaned it out and realigned the gears. Now about 30 hours of riding my carb float got stuck. Tried to pull it apart and reassemble it. It just leaks gas, so I ordered a new carb that comes tomorrow. I also put a hole in my tank where the bolt weld for the plastic was and also had to use jb weld. I prob would never buy one again. But as I don’t have 7k for a name brand bike I feel like I got my moneys worth. I don’t know how I feel about the decision yet. I guess we’ll see if the new carb works and how the rest of the bike holds up for now
My apollo has had the exaust bolt break my clutch gasket also went bad so we speant about half to even a year tryong to fix it and so far we havent fixed it yet were hopibg we just fixed it cause the gasket would come loose and make the oil leak
We just got a Xpro Hawk 125CC - great heads up video on what to look for! Based on the tough trails you run, it surprised me the bike would take it! Had a Hawk 250 for 4 years that thing never broke but it got run on gravel roads and pavement. Upgraded to a BMW G 310GS.
I have a Hawk 150 and it’s been tip top other than a stripped handlebar bolt when I received it. Also, I don’t run it hard since I know it’s not meant to be. I use it for trails and scooting through the woods. Some of the trails get some heavy mud so I go around as much as possible. It’s been a great unit so far. I also still run the stock carb and ran the stock chain until it started stretching. For most people, who don’t significantly abuse them, I’ve heard great things. I have an Arctic Cat wheeler that I abuse and it handles it like a champ. Even on that I’ve had to shore up a weld since it started shearing after hitting an unseen stump on the lower chassis. The 150 bike has been great so far with about 50 hours on it.
By the time you're done working/spending money on this bike you would be better off with just getting a used Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki. They're fun if you're a suburbs kid but if you're going offroading seriously get a big 3 brand.
My kids grew up with these chinese pitbikes from 70cc up to 160cc 8 inch wheels to the 17inch. We stay in the suburbs so mostly walking trails and street riding. I think they did good and safe up alot of money. Now that they are older we advanced to name brand because it would be the last ones I bought for them.
What is the second bolt on the bottom of the Apollo engine? One bolt is for draining the oil. What is the second bolt located next to it ? I actually unscrewed it and it won’t screw back into fully
So far the only problems I've had was the bike would idle extremely high, almost as if giving it throttle with the stock carb as well as a knockoff Mikuni but the company I got it from sent me another carb and it worked pretty well but now it bogs down after letting off in high gear/rpm, think the carb is just dirty tho because I have the stock filter on still and the clutch lever broke first drop lol. Kind of wish you said all the things you liked/thought were done well on the bike too instead of just the bad.

Then watch the market for a used bike to clean up. But lock-tighting bolts is normal to do on anything that spins or vibrates. Including Japanese bikes. It also costs like 10$ to do it and maybe 5-10 minutes
By the time you change the engine, chain, sprocket, exhaust and whatever else you might as well get something from one of major bike brands also no one ever uses a kickstand they are always taken off

So its a no go to go for these bike ? man I dont want to pay anymore for a 3k$ kawasaki or ktm that will break down in the same amount of time. Those bike are like 1500$ new I know thta I can't have to much anticipation but would you recommend to not buy one ?
If u have patience to find the right used kawasaki ktm etc and to save your money up you could get a better deal with the Japanese bikes. NOW if you dont know anything bout bikes or looking at someones used dirtbike you might spend 3000$ on a lemon without knowing. Its a double edged sword. I recommend these only to someone as a first beginner bike to learn to ride and do maintenance on. There great if you plan on riding in the grass or on the road. But any sort of serious abuse and youll be breaking shit left right n center. Formulate your own opinion from that
@@AaronsEnduro thanks for the answer. I had a kawasaki 250f 2006 that i paid full on 3k for and I sold it right before the freaking motor blew up and would have cost me over 1.5k in repair. I am no mechanics and want to buy a new dirtbike I am missing the riding so much. But I dont want to invest 3k again and get the chance to be screwed again. Those chinese bike seemed like a good option I would do trails but not as hard as the one in your videos more like gravel road and sand trails... But again I can't do my own mechanics/welding so if something broke I might have to pay up
If you’re looking to ride dirtbikes you need to be willing to learn basic mechanics to be able to maintain a dirtbike, or be able to afford to pay someone else to do it
The Apollo bikes are fun if you maintain them and have a few parts on standby. Parts are cheap and usually fairly interchangeable between Apollo and even some other "pit bike" brands, so just have the essentials. A backpack is pretty easy to ride with, then you can bring beverages and snacks too with your tools and some parts. Just bring the stuff that you couldn't ride back without - plug, chain/chain tool (to make a chain fit any bike), throttle cable, a little bit of fuel line, levers, heck even throw a 12 or 10" spare tire on the backpack, better riding home funny than pushing it. I like a handful of the most common bolts, too plus tape, bear spray etc haha.
I do ride with a bag full of tools, and i use them every ride lol. My riding videos are only a 1/10th of the ride itself so you dont normally watch me fixing it on the trail. The apollo is always the bike needing to be fixed haha
I would take a 30 year old Japanese bike any day over a new Chinese bike. Secondly you should be on something more in the 250 size. This is a kids bike or a pit bike. My opinion
@@AaronsEnduro Awesome. I prefer something in the 500cc size but I am an old school 2 stroke fan. I still ride my 85 ATC 250r that is putting out about 50hp which is plenty.
Waaaaaayyy too many issues for a 1 year old bike. My 2002 XR70 (that's right - 21 years old) still runs great, and has never had ANY of the issues mentioned here. You get what you pay for.
I have seen what you put the Apollo rfz through it would not be fair to judge the Apollo based on the torture you put it through that dirt bike was never designed for that my punishment. You failed to mention that in this video 90% of the people that ride those type of trails do it on Japanese bikes and they can take that type of punished
I rode dirt bikes for 20 years, and I saw just about every dirt bike made, from a Rickman, to a Penton, to a Honda, to a Suzuki, to a Bultaco, to a Montesa, and the bike you have is the biggest, bad design, unsafe, bad welds, piece of junk I have ever seen. I would not take that bike if you paid me, let alone ride it. If it had a warranty, I would have burned it and sold the bike after 1 ride. I can not believe you spent all that time working on a piece of junk like that, or spent all that money fixing it. Just go buy a used Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki, and burn that bike, then bury it, so nobody else ever has to mess with it, lol.

@@AaronsEnduro thanks bro you just saved me money and hassle!! I've always rode Japanese bikes and they set the bar pretty high with being indestructible anything short of that is unacceptable nowadays seriously though if it had small problems I would consider it but dang
Depends on what size bike you’re looking for, but the honda xr100/crf 150f’s are coolio, as well as the klx 140 lineup. Both are fairly bulletproof and all work as great play bikes
@@AaronsEnduro yeah I've got a couple four stroke bikes but I grew up riding both two and four strokes I would like to get another two-stroke just not many companies makes a modern one I would love an RM 125 or 250 since I'm a a Suzuki guy I think Yamaha still makes a two-stroke I don't know I'm looking around not in a hurry but going to get something
The rm’s are a classic, rip your face off of fun bike! They always got a sweet spot in my heart after trying my buddies RM85 😂
I got my pit bike today and as I was Riding today it was smelling like something burning so can u like me know what u I think what’s going on
Spilt fluid on exhaust etc is my guess
Where did you get your new plastic tank? I can’t find one
I found it on apollomotors.ca
Sup bro was looking through the parts u said u had to replace gas tank I gotta do the same with mine which tank did u use I don't wanna order the wrong 1 can u help plz and thanks for the great content
thanks for watching! the plastic upgrade tanks seem to be somewhat hard to come by(in the right model)
i sourced mine from apollomotors.ca check out the photo they list on the website there and carefully look over the bolt hole positions. that is the correct tank for the updated frame design. It also depends what country your from as thats a canadian dealer
The only thing that broke was everything on the bike
Pretty much
Anything cast metal from China will break if you drop it from 4 feet high in the dirt. I've been through countless clutch perches and shifter levers .
I just bought a the 125cc X18 apollo for 500$ on facebook marketplace now I wish I would have spent like an extra 500 and bought like a hondo. To be fair its my first dirtbike and I didnt want to spend much.
Thats one way to learn!
@@AaronsEnduro I just pray the bike doesn't completely fall apart once I start riding it lol
@carsonreese2838 probably will lol #chinabikethings
If I just got it to ride like on streets do you still think it’s crap
Yes
I’ll be mainly using on street . Most of these things don’t apply to me right ?
Id say to just keep them all in mind when riding the bike
My swing arm bolt snapped 😪 I was like 5 minutes into my mountain ride with my bud.. hopefully I ordered the right one this time because there's some that say it's for Apollo on Amazon but it didn't fit. 🤦🏽
Ya i got super tired of trying to source parts and then they end up not fitting 🤦
They need to stick with a few models that's for sure
I have a question does the wheel set you linked come with rim?
My kick stand just keeps dropping
Spring fell off
What brand of engine was the original 125cc ?
im not sure what brand the stock engines are? im going to assume it was a "lifan" engine as thats the most common Chinese engines
Ok thanks Aaron. I have a xmotos with a zongshen 125cc was just curious if it was the same.
Have you have exhaust pipe problems
My exhaust slip on flange bolt broke off the weld, but thats it
where did you get the plastic fuel tank?
Apollomotors.ca
Haha ya my damn kick stand came down a hundred times haha I ride hard and I'm humiliated by the floppy kick stand haha. My fork guard came undone my seat screw came off. Other than that the apollo 125 rfz x 19 I have is still going strong n healthy
Damn kick stand dropping down mid trail will fk ur sh!t up
Where did you buy the bike
I got it through a Canadian retailer, if you’re looking to buy one you can pick one up through the links in the description 👍🏼
Hey Aaron what racing chain should I put on this rfz bike?
Renthal!
@@AaronsEnduro and what size bro?
Links are in the description. Its either a 428-120link
Or a 420-120 depending what you have already. (The sprockets need to match the chanin width)(420vs428)
What mm UNI air filter is the right size for the 110 rfz?
Apollo rfz représente ✌️
Absolutement!
How do I replace the airbox with a pod filter there’s a breather tube
What bike are you asking about
@@AaronsEnduro Apollo RFZ Z20
Why would you want to get rid of the airbox for a cone filter??? Airboxs are better as they’re sealed from the elements
@@AaronsEnduro I guess I did not know that thanks bro
I definitely wouldnt delete the airbox!
How many of the issues are due to an adult riding a kids bike though?
If an adult trying to take care of the bike had this many issues, how many would a reckless child that doesnt care do?
I would take a 30 year old Japanese bike any day over a new Chinese bike. Secondly you should be on something more in the 250 size. This is a kids bike or a pit bike. My opinion
I completely Agree with the 30 year old jap classic over one of these. I just placed my order for a brand new 300cc 2 stroke
@@AaronsEnduro Awesome. I prefer something in the 500cc size but I am an old school 2 stroke fan. I still ride my 85 ATC 250r that is putting out about 50hp which is plenty.
Oh thats wicked haha
2 strokes dominate the hard enduro scene out here, got a brand new beta should be here in a few weeks youll see on the channel!
Not sure if u’re active on Instagram or not but I dmed u bc I have a few questions nd need some advise if u can, preciate it
Waaaaaayyy too many issues for a 1 year old bike. My 2002 XR70 (that's right - 21 years old) still runs great, and has never had ANY of the issues mentioned here. You get what you pay for.
Absolute agree! My 20 year old xr100 doesn’t have this many issues!
idk what levers fit can you help me?

What plastic tank is it
It’s from apollomotors.ca
Good side learner bike. Beatr
For sure!
These r all over Facebook marketplace. The jokes on you when u buy 1
😂
I have seen what you put the Apollo rfz through it would not be fair to judge the Apollo based on the torture you put it through that dirt bike was never designed for that my punishment. You failed to mention that in this video 90% of the people that ride those type of trails do it on Japanese bikes and they can take that type of punished
I mean the apollo is branding itself at a dirt bike, and this is where you take dirt bikes 🤷🏼♂️
Although yes i do agree i ride this thing up much harder trails then majority of people do even on Japanese bikes
Doesn’t change the fact that i still broke all these parts lol
like how bro spelled out uni
UNI
@@AaronsEnduro ive only heard it pronounced like the "uni" in unicycle
Jesus man, the list would have been shorter to list what didn't break or go wrong.
😂 ur not wrong lol
good new chinese bike is honda! currently made in china, since 08
Mine dies on idal
Mine one day the transmission delete all her gear 😅
Dang that sucks!!
That's not the bike you bought you even changed the motor out,,
I mean ya i built the bike? Hows that not the bike i bought?
If i left it stock it would of been in the dumpster within 6 months lol
i subbed cuz my bday is aug 18
Ayyyy birthday bros 👊🏼
@@AaronsEnduro I ride a crf50
Fun lil mini ripper
So another words they're not really a dirt bike if you want them to last most people ride them on the streets anyway around my city
Yea they dont last offroad
I agree this apollo was junk! But it was fun junk haha
i friend i about to throw away his rusty chinese bike...i took it so i could use it to practice shifting before getting a real bike.....a lot of stuff seem broken.....LOL
Yep they sure break a lot
so if you get this bike the only thing worth the time is the frame
Wouldn’t even say that 😂 it blew the second engine shortly after and i sold it
New engine build in a similar ,but Japanese bike goes live this weekend (its a daily mini series)
So basically just get a honda
Pretty muchhh
Guess you get what you pay for!
Sure do!
Soooo buy a Japanese brand bike. Or else you’ll be fixin shit forever. The END
