Sunshine Ward - Order 12" EP (2016)

Debut LP from Boston hardcore/D-beat band Sunshine Ward. Their noisy first demo, which was re-released as a 7" in 2014, was kind of a blip on my radar. But with these 10 new tracks, it seems like Sunshine Ward is trying to grab my and everyone else's attention. The release of "Order" is pretty closely aligned with Green Beret's new LP, in that we have two new full lengths from d-beat influenced Boston hardcore bands. Like Green Beret, or even Koward, Sunshine Ward deliver that Swedish "kang punk" sound with tougher, mosh-oriented slower moments that almost have Oi! vibes at times. But whereas their contemporary's execution seems more calculated, there is something raw and unhinged about this LP that I really like. Just an all-out assault of rage. The production is much clearer and powerful than their demo though, which makes this much more of a standout release for me. Another great release from the Boston scene. I'd expect no less!
