My mom who is Sicilian made this regularly. We wouldn’t brown the garlic though, just gently infuse it and use chili flakes instead of hot sauce. The starch water isn’t really a thing to do, however it does make a delicious creamy result.
Whether it’s made this way or my mama’s way…. It’s delicious comfort food. Nom nom nom.
When I make lasagna I don’t boil the noodles. I just place them in the pan and the saucy sauce just cooks them to perfection.
@@Agapy8888 yes, agreed. 😊
Lasagna Is not spaghetti . Spaghetti Need to be cooked in boiling water. Trust me i am italian from italy😊

Every one do it their own way.
I am 73 and from New Orleans, Louisiana USA. My 2nd generation Sicilian grandmother made this when I was a child except she only used olive oil, garlic and parsley. No pepper that I can remember but that was long ago. I make it like that today. Maybe she used spaghetti water too. I will try it the next time I make it. Thanks for a great video.
@randyc5650 This is the "aglio-olio" nothing more. No French chef involved.
My Greek grandmother used to take left over spaghetti and fry it in butter and serve us. To this day, I have never, ever tasted spaghetti so wonderful. I make it all the time for my children. Fried spaghetti is the best kind of spaghetti to have.
CIAO, SICILIANO !!! SALUTI DALLA ARGENTINA.

I must admit your recipe is delicious. My children request this continually so we have it 3 times a week. However my kids love garlic so much I always have to ad extra so when I make mine I'm putting at least 10 cloves of fresh minced garlic. We are from Hampton, Commonwealth of Virginia. A perfecto dinner !
Hello from Oklahoma! This looks alot like something we make at deer camp. We add italian sausage and balsamic vinegar. Thanks for the recipe!
I would add the "pasta water" before any parmesan to simplify completion of the cooking.
The parmesan - I would sprinkle on after plating.
I hope to try this soon substituting tarragon in place of the parsley.
Nice pasta detective work
Hallo!
Dankeschoen❣
From philadelphia, pennsylvania und es schmecht so gut.
I also use sweet chilli sauce. This dish is fantastic with fresh crusty bread.
Pasta e pane? Che strano accoppiamento. Carboidrati conditi di carboidrati. Chi non sa mangiare non sa nemmeno cucinare.
Wow! This looks like the ULTIMATE comfort food! 🤤 😋
Love. I will make for my fam. The hot sauce is a wonderful idea. Ps. I live in Southern California.
Looks like a simple easy dinner when you don't want a heavy meal. Montana here.
Cant get heavier in just one meal. Ugly.
All'anima del pasto leggero.
Greetings from Erlanger Kentucky!
I have seen an Italian dish made with only 4 of these ingredients: EVOO, garlic, spaghetti, and red pepper flakes. It is called spaghetti aglio e olio. I have also seen many additions such as parmesan cheese, halved cherry tomatoes, sautéed bell peppers, and more. Using the pasta water is also a part of the recipe. I do not use red pepper flakes, but DO add bell peppers and parmesan cheese. It is a favorite dish of mine. Thank you for the video.
I thought of spaghetti aglio e olio too. I grow Italian parsley in my kitchen garden just to make it!

Ohayo gosaimas! Itadakimas!
Beautiful video/music/calm presentation. I've made this dish dozens of times and continue to learn new things. My preferance would be to reserve the grated cheese for a topping after the plate is on the table If the chesse melts into the dish then it could become more like a casserole While cooking I might sneak in an anchovie or two when no one is looking. Another option is to add the partially cooked pasta to the sauce then after a bit add enough pasta water to finish cookin the pasta. Your excellent recipe presents new possibilities.
I tried it. Pasta dishes are difficult for me, but this was very easy to cook You can also change it slightly and use other cheese or add some avocado. It was delicious. I just had to add a little salt.
Greetings from Germany

I visited a local Greek family restaurant for lunch and asked for the "pasta of the day." It was made in a similar way but with sliced onion in lieu of garlic and sans the hot sauce/pepper flakes. It was surprisingly simple and delicious! Cheers!

I make this but have never added hot sauce. I love the idea and will make it your way the next time. Thank you for the recipe!
I'm from Tulsa Oklahoma and I've been doing something similar to this as a poor mans meal since i was a kid it was taught to me by my Mom who just showed me and didn't have a name for it we boil spaghetti noodles and then get a small monkey dish and put some butter in mix some minced garlic from the jar and a little garlic powder and a pinch of salt and some parsley flakes and microwave it until it's melted and before we serve we'll get out bowels we intend to use and get a laddle and scoop out some boiling water and pour it into the bowl and let it heat the bowl and then pour it out and then put pasta in the bowl and then pour the garlic butter you made into it and eat it kinda fast it will get cold fast that's why i heat the butter and the bowl before i eat it because things like butter and garlic from the fridge will knock the heat out of it quickly it stays warm enough to melt the butter and then as soon as the butter is melted it's already luke warm so heat the stuff that comes from the fridge....it slaps hard for a empty stomach and a meal that takes as long as it takes to boil the spaghetti we can call it "French Ramen" at least thats what I'll call it😅
I’m the same been making this for our tea..when we were kids..
Enjoyed from Paducah, Kentucky, USA.
this recipe is based on a italien dish called "spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncini", but i think no italian would do it like that :D

I know this well, it's a peasant dish from Italy too. If you're on a budget this is ace. It's amazing as it is but you can add whatever you want to it also, broccoli, halved cherry tomatoes, anchovies...
@@MarisaTatti-nl9gv My Italian friend used to make it all the time, she is from the north. I see someone in the comments, also from Italy, makes it. My friend didn't make it exactly like this but similar (used oil not butter, chill flakes not hot sauce and parmesan mixed in at the end). We used to eat it all the time. A cheap and tasty dish.
@@MarisaTatti-nl9gv I really appreciate your time writing this and I will try it. The other thing my friend used to do was put the garlic pieces in whole, she didn't chop them up, and she also served the dish with the garlic in. It was only ever browned, not more. Do you chop your garlic or use it whole?
Edit: she takes them out sorry, I remember now. I used to eat them.

Wait for the water to boil before shoving the noodles in.
I brought the water to a boil and added the spaghetti, but when I turn on the camera and start recording, I reduce the heat slightly to prevent the water from splashing out of the pot. You understand that when filming cooking videos, you have to use some tricks 🙂
Why? I've made pasta with and without the water boiling and it makes no difference at all.
