there is a sticker on the radio that gives you all the positions and wire colors for both plugs

Thank you. It's a west coast Jeep so the dry desert has been kind to its old bones.

Nice video, thanks for posting. I was thinking running new wires to the door speakers was the easiest way to go. Dealing with that harness is a pain, and I don't want to dig into that until I have too, lol. I bought a harness kit for an aftermarket stereo, so I'm just going to run a black and red wire to the speakers to keep it simple, lol.

It just has to be able to make noise! Love it!

My XJ radio works kinda… the clock only comes on once in a while. The radio tends to not work right away but gets better after driving a while. It just needs to warm up. The cd player and cassette player both work so I have options.

I have the same problem. I wish you had been able to show in detail how you ran the speaker wire from the radio to through the door to the speaker.

I will do my best to describe it here:
From the radio I ran the wire pair behind the dash, over the steering column and behind the plastic kick panel on the driver's side. With the driver's door opened I pulled the rubber sleeve [ channel between the door and chassis ] (seen at @12:05 below the steering wheel) back from the chassis to gain access to the pass through grommet. Then I pierced the rubber grommet (If there is one?) with a screwdriver and fed the wires through it, through the rubber sleeve and into the door cavity. With only a little silicon spray or other lubricant it was fairly easy to reinstall the rubber sleeve to the chassis.
There is no need to break open the existing wiring harness in the sleeve as you can easily run the large wires I used through the extra space and not interfere with the window or anything else in the door cavity. A metal fish tape might help run the speaker wires, but even a long screwdriver or wire hanger will work.
"No... Wire... Hangers!!!!" [Who's old enough to get that reference?]

I said… no more wire hangers!

I have a 01 Cherokee just like this one. Same issues.. only the very back speakers are working. Everything being so high these days… if I just wanted to get new wires(I have after market speakers in it already) what would that run me? Estimate! Thanks

Since you know wiring, you want to help me rewire my miata?

Based on this video? Yea sure.. run speaker wires to all the sensors and then back to the computer. Then turn it on and see what happens? I bet it sounds awesome.
Lol. Building a wiring harness is no minor task. Your best off getting an existing one and using that to fix whatever issues you have.
Also I would start with a complete LNF engine and harness to rewire the Miata. Even a measly LE5 would be better than trying to get the Mazda crap from the 90's working since the Miata MAF (mouse trap) is probably as expensive as an entire ECOTEC motor. [beat:dead:horse: emoji] It's time to make glue out of that Miata boi!
