I am currently towing a Honda CR-V and purchased a New Ford Maverick to tow. I found that FORD has a problem not shared in the manual about their transmission that you need to be aware of. The tow mode default is NORMAL. The 12 volt system has to be powered from your RV while towing. I use an RVI battery isolator to keep my tow vehicle's battery charged. If it looses power (tow battery) drops voltage, the transmission goes to NORMAL mode and will burn up. A $7,000 repair. Check around.

Good advice about research! You mentioned TOADs for Class A and Class C. We may be a rarity, but we pull a Jeep Cherokee with our Road Trek Class B. Enjoy the ability to set up the B and do our running around in the Jeep. It also gives us some extra storage spaces, and the security of a back up vehicle if needed.

Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 We flat tow a 2018 Lincoln MKX. I agree with you. I don't want to trailer or dolly a car. With flat towing if we are traveling all we need to do is find a big parking lot and I can have the car unhooked in under a minute. Then we are free to drive to any local restaurant we want. With the car hooked up behind the RV we are 62' long. You just can't park something like that in many restaurant parking lots. I did think the video was a little long though.

Congrats on your new to you vehicle. I’ve recently found your videos on RUclips. I really appreciate all the tutorials and your nice, chatting videos. My husband and I are new to glamping and bought our first trailer last August. After using it only three times, we knew we bought a trailer that was too small for us. Live and learn. We are now upgrading a little in size to a Jayco Featherlite and will pick it up in a couple of days. As newbies to this whole camping thing, I really really appreciate all your videos. You are so appreciated.

Hello my friends, please be very careful, in the state of Minnesota, if the towed vehicle is over 1500.00lbs. yes I said 1500.00lbs then you have to have breaks on the towed that are actuated from the towing vehicle. I know be cause I had to get out in the ice and snow then disconnect the towed vehicle, reinstall the drive in the towed vehicle and then drive both vehicles until we reached our destination. CAREFUL Minnesota is annal about this. Skip from Michigan.

I like all of your videos! You guys are direct and honest and humorous. You have to have humor in this life! I've long been a fan of Ford trucks, I've owned quite a few in the past 40+ years, I've always had good luck with them. Congrats on the new-to-you Expedition, a Platinum L series no less, beautiful! We currently use a Wrangler as our toad as well, they are very easy to configure and hook up, but having the increased room and comfort of the Expedition is certainly a significant upgrade! I'm wondering if you will notice the extra weight when pulling it behind your coach. Also, guessing due to the increase in weight you may have to upgrade your tow bars to be able to accommodate it.

Yeah I hate dealers, they did the same to us, they listed the vehicle then said they had added insurance and theft protection to us and that was why. We were so frustrated cause we had been prepared with the right amount of money to buy it. In the end we had to walk away. I’m actually glad we did, but I still believe it was wrong.

Flat towed a Ford fiesta bought new. Had the same electronic flat tow setup. Dealer told us same on the flat towing. Never was to keen on a screen telling me the transmission was ready. Also had to start it occasionally because it needed the fluids flowing to lube the parts.
Ended up getting a Jeep wrangler, gave me more peace of mind that I was actually disconnecting the transfer case.
Good luck. Do lots of research. Saw a few story's of the Fords getting the transfer case damage.

Congratulations on your new towd. I flat tow a 2013 Honda CRV behind my class C. I use a Falcon all terrain hitch system. It is very easy for me to hook and unhook and I am 72 yr old woman. To tow my car, because it is an automatic, I have a procedure I have to go through with the car turned on and go through the gears to neutral and let it run for 3 min. I did a solo trip across country and back and I had no problems.

We tow my ‘09 Scion xB. It would be so sad to part with it and I feel a rash coming on even thinking of going into any dealership. A good reliable vehicle is even more important when hauling it on the road. I don’t buy American vehicles anymore especially after seeing my husband spend and deal with soooo many repairs on his Fords over the years. We’d likely have to have a Toyota set up for our needs when we buy our next vehicle or just keep the Scion for towing. Luckily we only travel by ourselves. Congrats on your new tow vehicle!! She’s a stunner. Love watching you guys.

Just subscribed to your channel. Let me explain why. I am divorced and My adult daughter along with her 12 yr old son who is on the ASD have rented the same home since 2013. The neighborhood started getting sketchy so my son and daughter-in-law moved us in the home with them with the understanding it was to be until we could find a place of our own. We found land approximately 1 mile from them that has had a mobile home previously with septic tank and well water. We don't plan to use the well water. So we were looking into a mobile home to put on it. Then we checked out our local RV dealership. We found one that is a 2024 Sierra 400b I think. It has 2 bedroom and 2 full bath plus a loft for the grandson. We have been praying on it and I think that is our plan because I'm getting on in age and won't be around forever to help her. Plus we love to go to the mountains to vacation. There ya go! Perfect set up. The only thing is me and the electronic system has me worried. So what do you think?

If it is a Ford, make sure your RV is charging the Towed Vehicle while driving. also, every stop the TOWED engine requires starting and shifting the through the gears. Towed a Flex and Explorer behind my Mercedes Sprinter 3500 with only issues going up & down hills - breaking system is crucial.

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  10 месяцев назад +1

They there, this model doesn’t require stopping and shifting through the gears. If you take a look at the dingy towing guide, you will see some vehicles do require that and others do not. We chose this one because it’s more “simple”

When I'm shopping online for a vehicle, I print off the page with the price. The dealerships around here like to try and jack the price up when you sit down by having certain things done already. No, I want it for this advertised price. I didn't ask for the protect package, I want it for this price. And I got it for the online price. Especially when I got up to walk away.

It’s not a fun experience, but if you play your cards right and know what you want going in, it’s a better experience. We are glad they put on new tires and fixed everything before they could sell it to us.

Curiosity question: since you tow your vehicle, does the mileage increase on it anyway, just like driving it?
    Congrats on the new tow👍

The odometer does not register miles towed.

I had dealer list a vehicle for a price only to say that’s the “special “ price if you finance with us. Happened when I was looking for a f350 for my 5th wheel. So I financed at the “special “ price and then paid it off after my 1st payment. I did check the fine print for no penalty for early payoff.

Congrats on the new toad. Learned my lesson the hard way with our 2011 Jeep Wrangler. It was a two door manual transmission (with no manual). I hooked it up wrong one time and destroyed the transmission, drive train, yahda yahda yahda. $30k lesson. 😢

Love both types of your videos and we are still 389 days out but we know which 5th wheel we want and know that we are going to need a F-350 or better to tow it so we are going with the F-450 so that no matter what we ever go to when we start or change to the towing capacity of the 450 would handle anything we ever need to pull.

    • @GratefulGlamper

The F-450 is leap years ahead of the 350. The turning radius alone is worth the difference in cost.

Did this vehicle come with a 5.0L option? Ive heard, and i guess it's just from videos online that ecoboosts have minor issues but 5.0Ls are tanks. Not trying to be a downer whatsoever because thats a huge spacewise upgrade!
