I'm glad somebody made a video that has such a deep understanding of the lore.
In terms of the Penitent's One return though, I think that there's a strong piece of evidence for the "people praying him back to life" theory. In the teaser for Blasphemous 2 announcing the game, there is a muttered Latin prayer. Roughly translated it says something like "Oh Twisted Father, turn the guiltiest of faces back towards us who are unnamed, for the Miracle has returned". I don't know who else that could describe but the Penitent One, for he is the guiltiest after slaying the High Wills and has no name.
It seems likely then that some people still remember the Penitent One and what he did, and their acts of faith resurrected him.

Your interpretations are the best I've seen to date.
I think your final analysis about how the HWs came into being after the Miracle and as a product of the religious doctrine and organization is correct. It fits perfectly with how the Miracle itself came into being.
Edit 1: I think the only place where your interpretation is thin is the assertion that HW's curse on TPO is the source of his resurrection. This contradicts the idea that the works of the HWs(Mea Culpa and the TO) are undone. If their demise means their works are undone, then it is inconsistent to say TPO will rise due to their final condemnation.
Thanks! I’m with you on the curse of the HW, and really the only reason I made an exception and decided to suggest it is that, with a sequel in mind, perhaps the inclusion was for some narrative punch that could function as an exception.
That being said, I think TPO as this sort of religious folk hero that gets prayed to makes more sense and is more thematically compelling to me. I’m just always ready to paint with a broad brush when it comes to pre-release speculation. 😄

Thank you for your contributions, they really helps after 4 games in a row that are still as nebulous as ever haha (much less than the first time though).
I don't know how, but I imagine we might hear about Jibrael, the Amacenidas or maybe the Saeta, that awakening ancient "entities"? (the characters at 9:53 remind me a lot of the Amacenidas, the chara-design, the golden thread, the axe, the colors)
Unless the latter elements just serve to further "personify"/develop the High Wills, I think they weren't introduced for nothing.
I won’t spoil much, but from what I got from blasphemous 2, you pretty much got everything right. Everything seemed to indicated towards your theory being perfectly correct
I feel like the miracle is truly benevolent but their warped sense of guilt manipulates its to do harm, the few faint cries for change that can be seen in some bone descriptions showing those who disagree with the churches ways, or the kissers of wounds who only wish to help alleviate the wounds of others these things allow the penitent one to affect some temporary change but tradition and the conservative orthodox of the masses is hard to discard, perhaps this is a kinder and gentler medical who still has a knot of vile twisting from the public or perhaps the people degenerated further into pain. The only true solution might be to wipe the slate clean systematically dismantling the church to teach a new orthodoxy based on love and charity rather than feeling one must given penance.
