    Low graphical fidelity tends to make good devs compensate with stylistic flair. Monster Hunter Rise is exactly that kind of game, and getting to play it at a minimum 60FPS on mid end hardware is a big deal. It doesn't need gimmicks like RTX. The visuals are conveyed through the design, and the low demand on hardware is good because Monster Hunter is performance dependent.

    The key thing about Rise on PC for people that played on Switch are mods. Rise, while being the best MH game in terms of gameplay, it's also one of the most barebones when it comes to content and endgame loop/activity. Mods can really introduce much needed armor set skins, actual equipment from Apex monsters and most important, randomly generated quests (like Investigations from World) because for the first time ever in a MH game I ran out of quests to complete and that happened at the 95 hour mark.

    • @amini011

      @@amini011 We'll probably get a lot of mods for Rise. Giving what people achieved in World and what people usually do with other games I wouldn't be surprised if we saw full conversion of monsters from World to Rise. But just simple things like Quest Editors/Generators would do the trick for me since the biggest problem with Rise really is the fact that there are a finite number of quests and they aren't a lot compared to what MH usually delivers.

    Got this game today as a gift because rise and sunbreak were on sale for their last digital event (love my friends who got me it). I started playing mon hun back in the 3ds days with mh4u and generations. Man, you wanna talk about grindy and so much content, mh4u was LOADED with monsters to hunt with each a weakness to certain weapon types and each having a different kit, it was NUTS. Mon hun world was this super pretty beautiful takeover of the older monhuns where there was no loading between zones and that everything looked amazing. The soundtrack sounded amazing and the effects were shockingly awesome. Rise brings that though to a different viewpoint with less focus on the effects and pretty environments to a much more open world of possibilities and new doors to open with the addition of multiple sets that were familiar to those who played the older games. Generations integrated the sending off your palico to trade/train/gather resources and better yet, you could be your palico for specific quests while your hunter would be in town, so it made your palico kit matter may more than just "oh bombs sounds good". I think every monhun is a buy but due to the commonality of games popping up and out into the freespace with new ideas and better features (like skippable cutscenes... talking to you, WORLD), it makes you wonder if you are playing each game right given the amount of content inside of the game itself!

    Only question i have, does the pausing work playing solo? When comparing this game to World, the ability to pause the game, as ive at least seen in the PC demo, is a huge decider. Not everyone lives alone and can always assure 30-50 minute interruption free, hunts. Monster parts can be gotten in Rise without having to trap or destroy parts, which is a first in the series. Breaking, cutting or capturing yields various chances of getting them, but you are not stuck with one method to gather the materials now. I personally think it's a step back as it encourages more unga bunga rather than aiming at certain parts, but i guess it's part of capcom's streamlining process.

    I only played a little bit of Monster Hunter World and that's it and even then, it's been a while. I already have Monster Hunter Rise for the Nintendo Switch, which is where I will start and then I'll jump into Monster Hunter World. Monster Hunter Rise still offers a challenging experience, while also being a good starting point for newcomers. The Wirebug allows for some additional traversal options and it enables players to scale hard to reach areas. It also allows for some aerial combat maneuvers. However, as good as the game is, the music is a bit lacking, especially in the hub area. The constant notifications are very frustrating and irritating. I wished that there was an option to disable them somehow. With that aside, I'm going to eventually start playing the Switch version at some point. Thanks once again Karak for another detailed, honest and unbiased review!

    I have around 80 hours on the Switch and have tried the PC demo. It's a fantastic game and I love the combat. The PC demo ran really well on my computer. I do have two gripes about the gameplay however. The hitsparks taking so much of the screen makes it hard to even see the monster that you are hitting a lot of times.
    Also, when another big monster shows up, the monster you are fighting immediately starts a turf war with that other monster. Once you wyvern ride to attack the other, the other monster always runs to a different area while in other MH games, there would be multiple monsters in the same area at once creating chaos. This pretty much makes dung bombs useless and I think it's part of the MH formula that should come back in Sunbreak or MH6. Other than that, really looking forward to playing this on PC again.

    • @devonjames7999
      @devonjames7999 2 года назад +2

      I'm glad the monsters run away in this one. In other games sometimes it would be too chaotic all the monsters fighting in one area especially if an elder dragon shows up and instead of all the monsters fighting each other they fight you instead. Sometimes it got a bit annoying especially if you are just trying to grind out an armor piece and you have replayed the same mission 4-5 times without the loot you need dropping. It can be frustrating. Plus it's realistic that the monster just wants to be left alone in peace lol
