I agree, I really cannot work with the new toposolid. Building pads are an essential tool to 90% of my projects. I hope they reincorporate it.
I think both tools could coexist, topography as surface or topography as toposolid, both with all its tools.

Maybe the building pad is useful for architects but it is not so for structural engineers. As an engineer if the building is 50/50 (below/above ground) first I need to cut everything on one level and later to backfill with compacted soil/gravel/sand. So the building pad didn't work for me. Now at last I am happy and I have enough Revit instruments to dig and backfill.
Well, yes, if you want to be specific about the materials that are used to do the fill. Unfortunately, the 2024 version (as of today, 1 of March 2024) still does not calculate cut and fill quantities correctly. For architects, the building pad was doing basic cut and fill (without specifics or materials) in one step, for a building that is 50/50 (below/above ground).

What are the proper procedures to cut / fill a toposolid, so that grade quantities show up on the schedule? I tried your Bldg A & B examples, but the grade quantities come up with zero, just as you got.
As I said at the end, 53:16 , it's not working yet. I have been watching notifications in the latest releases 2024.1 and 2024.2 and they dont' mention that the cut, fill, net calculations have been fixed yet.
hI, Ive tested all methods you mentioned, cutting the toposolids using an empty component (toposolid) quantifies correctly the cut/fill. However i cannot find a way to calculate correctly cut/fill if I want to add more volume to the toposolid. i can of course add more volume if i manually modify elevation, but is there a work around to do this. basically adding a toposolid, join both and now getting the new cut fill calculation
I think we will need to wait for the next upgrades to see those issues fixed.

I am disappointed with the new toposolid. My biggest problem is it is so slow (processing time) to edit points. I have a topo with 9000 points and the time to delete selected points is 6-7 seconds. Also there is a maximum number of points you can select at once. The old toposurface would delete points instantly. There is also no longer the option to simplify the surface to reduce the number of points.
I don't know yet if there is a maximum number of points. About simplifying the surface, I think there is a tool for that, if I remember correctly. In the meantime, if it works better, you can work in Revit 2023, and then import the toposurface to Revit 2024.
I read recently that the limit is 10,000 points, and that after that Revit automatically simplifies the topography. Today, April 2, 2024, we have a new version, Revit 2025. There are some improvements. I might do a follow up of this video commenting about the changes.
Terrible updates from AutoDesk...They have ruined the Revit by removing Building Pad!
yup i hate the 2024 version.
The Toposolid feature is tedious and confusing to use on designing house foundations. The previous Toposurface was a masterpiece. They should at least give us Toposolid as an option and not remove Toposurface outrightly. Please Autodesk can you reconsider!!

I am sorry to see that this was the only comment that you had to make about a video that is 53 minutes long. I always do things in the best way I can. If the sound does not have perfect levels, sorry, that's what I produce with the tools I have. In my opinion, the narration can be heard and understood without problems. I don''t hear anything that qualifies as horrible, as you say. But obviously you know more about sound levels. I only upload videos when I think that all aspects of the video are fine, complete, and correct. But I am aware that I don't have a professional recording studio and I am aware that it is impossible to please everyone on RUclips.
