    The Prince was never really cute out for government or anything which involved things that effect the lives of millions. BUT he made a good machinery worker.

    Terrific story and the blues was the perfect accompaniment.
    Fitting punishment too, doing the same work as the contractors he killed except without the astronomical paychecks. But he did get a real sense of self worth out of it, so there’s that.
    For the Squerril! For the author! For the Al Gore Rhythm! For the new uniform!

    The stories you choose to tell are always good. The way you tell them elevates them in such a manner that few of the others I listen to approach them in quality. Yet this one is even better than most.

    There have been cases in history where Royals have given up their titles and privileges because they loved their life as a normal person and did not want to give it up .
    Loved this story from a bugs perspective lol.

      Good example(maybe not so) is the Imperial Princess of Japan, she relinquished her seat in the Japanese Imperial Court and her Crown Empress heirship to be with her now Husband who is pretty normal at least for the nobles of Japan, he isnt a noble but he is a succesful lawyer

There was also a scene when his former tetrach came to his villa and tried to drag him back into politics, replied with "If you could come here and see the splendid cabbages I have grown with my own hands, then you would not ask such a thing of me."

    So I don't need a continuation since this was written as a one shot, but I want more of this universe. Formerly insane gods are medicated via ftl suppositories the size of a battleship. The humans of this verse are on a whole new tier of bullshit.

    Thanks for another entertaining story. I got some chuckles out of it, and I like how Maj found a place where he could fit in and have more freedom than he ever had as the crown prince. Rank comes with obligations and expectations. People who can't fulfill those shouldn't be in such positions. Maj didn't have what it takes to be a leader, but he was smart enough to realize that and fortunate enough to find a better fitting position. Thanks for posting this story!😊

    I saw it many times in the military. People forced by family pressures, or circumstances of life, into jobs or positions that they truly hated and were not suited for. But they found happiness in the army. And many times great success there.
    Testing in the military said that I qualified for everything including the astronaut program. Because I wear glasses and on colored deficient in Vision I only qualified for 10% of the jobs. I believe it was God's way of letting me be in the Infantry where I was the most happy.
