Family injured in horrible crash receives grocery store trip and other surprises from a Secret Santa

- The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local man gift $500,000 this holiday season! Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and wants to help as many people as he can.
We will be surprising deserving people and families every day from now until Christmas with gifts unique to their circumstances.
Tomas Lizarraga, his wife and four kids were in a serious accident on Aug 17. They were hit head-on and Tomas was pinned in the van. Tomas and his 15-year-old both had their hips broken and were admitted to the hospital. The rest of the family received minor injuries.
Tomas has had two surgeries and was on bed rest for months. He went back to work part-time at the end of October but is not able to work much as he is a mechanic and can not do much. Their van was totaled and they have had to borrow a vehicle to get around to doctor appointments and other places.
They were able to purchase a replacement vehicle a few weeks ago but it's been a hard year and Secret Santa wanted to help. He asked the East Idaho News team to surprise the Lizarraga family with a unique trip to the grocery store - along with some extra gifts. Watch the video above to see what happened!

Yes that was wonderful he was still helping the family out I wish they had at least 10 minutes 2 minutes goes really fast but thank God they were able to receive some kinda of help and thank god they still have life

I think that if you have half a million to gift you must be pretty busy, also these surprises take a long time, hours each

Yes, I totally agree. As I watch these, in tears my self, I'm telling the receptionist (obviously the can't hear me) it's OK to cry. Aren't I silly? I don't get how none of the news crew have teary eyes, training I guess.

Its one of those sites on RUclips, that you accidentally watch, and then become engrossed in the Christian message of helping those less fortunate than most of us.
Few of us take the time to think or help the real needy in society, we just thank that we are not in the same situation, and that life is generally good to us.
Its really heartwarming to think that certain wealthy members of society, can spare the time to think and help those who really need it.

He was counting very very loosely on that 2 minutes lol They got up and down half a dozen isles in "two minutes" they're either olympic walking champions or...
They were moving extremely slow to only have two minutes
At the very end Nate said "hopefully next year can be much better." Little did he know what 2020 would bring... I hope this family wasn't affected by the pandemic, but it's hard to imagine anyone getting by unscathed.
Nate's attention to detail is exquisite. I know I am late to the party on this one but I have been binging on many of the more recent stories. I love how Nate is sensitive to names and pronunciations and makes sure to introduce himself to each child and to hear the name of every individual. And of course his elves with him are each heroes in their own rights and most of all the great anonymous secret Santa

I would love to be able to do this for someone. The people they choose to help are so deserving of the help. They've been through hell, some of them, but never complain, and often we find out that they are doing things for other people even though they have virtually nothing of their own. Whoever this Secret Santa is - you are a wonderful person and you've brightened so many lives for people who have had to go through some terribly tough times. Thank y ou for what you do.
Fell down the you tube rabbit hole straight into the feels....i live in ohio, not even in the state but this makes me so happy and humbled because even though food and rent is a struggle for me and I even been homeless, I can't even imagine some of these families struggles.

I watched your one son standing beside you when you were given the checks. His face was so sweet. He would not stop eye contact with his his mom when you were crying to make sure you were okay. You should be very proud of that boy, as well as your other children. Merry Christmas!
We can all do little acts of kindness. Cook a little extra and bring it to someone on the street, give one of your jackets or one of your blankets to somebody and kind when you are giving it out.
It really gets me completely undone when they cry. They really needed everything they got. Secret Santa you've taken care of their needs when they least expected. We all need to do our bit ( as much as we can afford to sacrifice and give) to cheer and bring joy and relief to hurting people - that's the true spirit of Christmas!

You can tell they are not greedy folks, they are so gentle with the groceries even with a 2 minute rush! And so nice of Nate to pick things up for them even when the timer has ended. :)

Just remember, Santa, secret or otherwise, is from the heart, not the pocketbook. Acts of kindness any time of year can make a difference in someone 's life and have a ripple effect through out a community. Even something as simple as helping a mom with her kids load groceries into her car can be meaningful.
