  • This is a part of flying that I don’t show much, but that I do often and take very seriously: going back to basics around the pattern, practicing landings, simulated engine failure and different techniques on each lap. Welcome aboard!

    Love the vid! However, I believe questioning “if anyone’s in the pattern”can be a problem. As soon as you ask, if there are locals in the pattern they’ll key up the mic and clog the frequency. Annoying sound. Just a opinion. 😊

    Hey Bruno, while I don't speak Spanish, I appreciate you adding the Spanish subtitles for your Spanish speaking audience.

    I was flying everyday, but the flights were routine. VNY-SBA, VNY-SJC, VNY-SAN, etc. One day I lamented to my friend (a CFII) that I was in a rut and felt my basic skills were getting stagnant. His reply was swift...'You have no idea how current those flights are keeping you!' As I eventually came to realize, he was right. Great video Bruno, but more importantly, you're a great role model. Thank you for all you do!

    Consistency, that’s the name of the game and keeps you in the game! Always good to practice the basics. Busy field there at Solberg. The last landing of the day, perfect. Gotta say, the right seat is pretty comfortable. Thanks for taking me along, much appreciated.

    How do you like the Aspen e5's? I'm in the market for one prior to my next annual I thought I would get the Garmin G5. But, will obtain the Aspen which is upgradeable. Diffently a great plus ➕ 👌 👏

    How do you get the background engine noise when the microphone is not activated?

    • @FlyWithBruno

      I record with multiple cameras, and some record the sounds inside the cockpit (other than the radio). That's how I get the engine noise, and I overlay it to the footage!

      Better than not having any teeth after a mid air collision

    • @BumbleBee55R
      @BumbleBee55R Год назад +1

      @@arip9234 Saying, "Anyone one in the pattern" does not prevent anything. I am not legally bound to reply to you. I don't even need to have my radio on. I could be on another frequency. Heck, I might not even have a radio as it's not required. This then gives the pilot on the ground a very false sense of security that there is "No one in the pattern", thus creating even more of a chance of a mid air collision. It's a worthless radio call.

    • @arip9234
      @arip9234 Год назад

      @@BumbleBee55R it’s unbelievable to me that in 2023 a pilot can fly in the pattern without the radio, and it’s horrible if this is the case. Having said that, is still make the call then (thanks to you) open my eyes hard! So far when I asked an uncontrolled airport’s “Traffic” any questions re favorable conditions to chose a runway to land, people answered quick and helped. I suppose that speaking for myself, although not legally bound according to you, every normal pilot would announce himself and more than than establish who’s landing first second etc. And I can tell you that I had an incident where I anointed myself 5 times from entering the downwind on a 45 to being on final and on final I got an ADSB alert “Traffic 12 o’clock” I look down and there’s a guy taking off right toward me. A flight instructor with a student no less, who landed at our airport from another airport and took of from the opposite runway we were using. He noticed me quick and broke right (He was still relatively far away and low). Turned out he didn’t hear any of my 5 announcements. Would I stop announcing myself? Heck no! Would I stop looking for traffic? Heck no! So any layer of communication and protection you can add is good for everyone, although -like you said- you’ve got to be ready because they didn’t here you, they didn’t answer, no radio, etc. fly safe

    • @jacobstump4414
      @jacobstump4414 Год назад

      “Useless” except for the 95% of time when someone replies with their location in the pattern, giving you situational awareness earlier and faster, and allowing you to focus on your own pattern earlier.
      The problem isn’t asking the question. The problem is assuming that zero response means zero traffic.
      You’re right though. You’re not legally bound to reply or have a radio. But it’s a dick move. We’re all stuck with the same 1940s regulations regarding collision avoidance, and trying our best to not die. Be a part of the solution and help out your fellow pilots.
