As a result, many of the theological foundations that are often ascribed to the Vedic tradition today do not reflect traditional and legitimate Sanatana Dharma at all, but must be categorized as Neo-Hindu. These highly debilitating, non-Vedic speculations have altered the way in which Sanatana Dharma is now understood by many spiritual seekers and have led to immense confusion. In this incisive interview, Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya (one of the world's most authentic and qualified Vedic gurus) explains the difference between the authentic tradition of Sanatana Dharma, that is found in the Vedic scriptures and the teachings of the rishis, versus the very modern and philosophically contaminated religion of Neo-Hinduism.

I don't know about Odin being Shiva, but there are a lot of comparative 'mythological' studies connecting Thor and Indra. It would be nice to hear Acharya talk more about Jayanta since there isn't much info out there about that Vedic deity.
My greatest sorrow is the rise of "Corporate" Hinduism.

Neo-Hinduism! I feel so thrown to the dogs by Neo-Hinduism it makes me cry (figuratively, my soul cries)! I feel like I was sold a lemon car and wasted years driving it around thinking I had the best car on the market, and cars were supposed to break down every mile, while everyone driving past in a Tesla kept saying that's not a car but an elephant not a car. So, I was deluded and now trying to find my way back to earth! Sri Acarya is an asset to religious discussions!

So, what Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda teached are not vedic? Every time i dive in to sanatana dharma i find it harder to find what is true and not. Especially with al the various strands (correct me if i use the wrong word here, English is not my mother tounge) in it. I agree with you on Christianity. I think that if Europe never turned Christian, the colonization would not have happened. For example the British: For God and Queen. For God to win souls and destroy native cultures and for the Queen to fill her pockets.

Sadly, Swami Vivekananda's teachings are one of the main foundations of Neo-Hinduism, as well as the teachings of Ramakrishna.

Can you point out good authentic English translation of bhagavad gita and upanishads? Perhaps even audiobooks if available. I'm so eager to dive into this, but so much is of western (mis)interpretation or corruption that I don't know which are proper versions.
Namaste Sand Tx. The very best translation of the Bhagavad Gita currently available is "Bhagavad Gita As It Is", by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1972 Edition). It can be found here: krishnastore.com/bhagavad-gita-as-it-is-1972-complete-edition-h-krishna-1039.html. As far as the Upanishads, there are 108 different texts in the Upanishad literature, all translated by different people. So, sadly, it isn't really possible to recommend a good translation of them all.

Though yes it's just impossible to get translation of the Upanishads properly because English doesn't do justice to the multitude of Sanskrit colors and undertones in meaning, analogy, etc. But the Principal Upanishads by Patrick Olivelle is the best I'd say so far, plus the commentaries of Shankara translated by Swami Ghambirananda all 12 of them is as good it gets. But you need the Brahma Sutras to understand, of which Swami Ghambirananda's is the best English one again. But it's always good to start with a wiki search of indepth terms and ideas of Upanishads you learn, and then keep learning as a process. It's not just reading a book. My family comes from the Sringeri Matt Peetham tradition, and over there students from age 5 learn till 25 learn Sanskrit prosody, etymology, Nirukta, etc to study or understand the Upanishads & Vedanta. It's a whole field of study, so unless you do that you always would have a 'lite' version so to say. This is afcourse only the Advaita interpretation.
