    Physically, this was the Steelers best team IMO. The Steel Curtain was in its prime and Franco Harris had his finest season. Only OJ had more rushing yards. This was the only time Bradshaw had to 2 to 1 ratio of touchdowns to interceptions (18 to 9) and the Great Lynn Swann caught 11 of them.

    This 75 Steelers team historically elite ranking should be slightly higher amongst all time sb winning teams because they were the very first to defeat a former sb winning team cowboys , head coach , tom landry ,and a former sb mvp in roger staubach . Mel Blount and Jack Ham won NFL defensive player of the year in 1975 ,Blount from the associated press ,and Ham from football news . Steelers SB 10 win equaled the Lombardi legendary packers,and Shula dolphins consecutive SB victories . Lynn Swann 40 yds per catch in SB 10 set a SB record ,the Steelers defensive unit set a defensive record by recording 7 QB sacks in SB 10 . The steel curtain defense and team offense set records in both consecutive SB victories. This would be for the Steelers Andy Russell,Ernie Arrowhead head Holmes , Gerry Mullins , Frank Lewis,John Fuqua, Reggie Harrison , Joe Gilliam ,final years on the steelers roster . There is obsolutely no objective way the extremely one dimensional offensive,gimmicky defense 85 bears should be higher then this 75 Steelers team . If it weren't for the then accustomed NFC conference powers 49ers ,WFT doing a quick reload in 85 and the giants capturing their alpha mindset in 85 ,the bears wouldn't have ever under Ditka advanced into a SB game ,all three of those previously mentioned conference powers captured 2 SB wins after 85 ,dispatching the bears at least once in post season,the Steelers after 1975; obviously captured a still SB record two additional consecutive SB titles . The 85 bears and 76 raiders were moreso the beneficiary of the stars aligned right for them in both seasons ,not coincidental the raiders never advanced past the conference championship any other time during the 70's . The Franco and bleier absence in the 76 conference championship game had a pronounced impact inthe contest . The 76 season opening lost vs the raiders,was because the Steelers after obtaining a 14 point lead with 6 minutes remaining in the contest became extremely over confident,they had just defeated the raiders in the previous years conference championship, they were over inflated with a smug decorum ,that's how they fell victim to a successful raiders rally . Remember the 74 Steelers also lost a regular season contest vs the raiders ,went into oakland for the conference championship and defeated the raiders ,so it wasn't unprecedented for the Steelers beating the raiders under similar circumstances. That day with the personel both teams suited up ,the raiders were better ,if Franco and bleier are there ,it's another conference championship victory for Pittsburgh. The 1975 Steelers were offensively underrated ,often overlooked because of the iconic steel curtain,which was still awesomely dominant despite this being the beginning of the great mean Joe Greene decline physically because of a severe, debilitating pinched nerve ,which hindered optimal usage of one of his arms ,he basically played handicapped the remainder of his career ,no longer a excellent pass rush option ,but still dominant vs the run ,clogging up blockers ,freeing up the rest of the front 7 . occasionally flashing his former brilliant pass rush .

      The Raiders were better than the Steelers in 1976 and proved it wasn't a fluke in Week 2 of the 1977 season, the Raiders third consecutive victory over Pittsburgh‐-IN PITTSBURGH. The Steelers never beat the Raider again until 1984.

      There were probably four all time great teams in the 70s. Miami, Pittsburgh,Oakland and Dallas but I think the 75 Steelers and 77 Cowboys were the two best.

    • @FredPena-rd5cf
      @FredPena-rd5cf 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ronsmac the 1977 Cowboys were overrated. Denver was a new, Cinderella team like the Miami team they beat in 1971. 2 and 3 in the 70s Super Bowls. Losing to more seasoned teams, Steelers twice and the Baltimore Colts. After Super Bowl 13 it was over for Dallas in terms of Super Bowl appearnces until 1992.
      The 1975 Steelers team was one of the greatest teams. Those Miami teams in 1972 and 1973 were pretty great. Kudos to the Redskins for keepin it at 14 to 7 in Super Bowl 7 despite their offense scoring no points. That Dolphins team was unbeatable and would have killed many other opponents in that Super Bowl. The 1976 Oakland Raiders were probably the best Super Bowl team of the 70s

      @@ronsmac the Dolphins with the No Name D? And those 3 great backs. Plus Griese and Morall and Paul Warfield? Idk. I think the 13 and 1 Raiders of 1976 were the best 70s Super Bowl team. Dallas beat cinderellas in their 2 70s Super Bowl wins.
