Been waiting for this video! Glad you got a chance to try this! I absolutely love Santal Majuscule simply because it isn't a typical "sandalwood" fragrance. I get the baked goods that you're talking about, for sure, but I mostly attributed the scent to very fine powered chocolate and rose with this creamy woodiness that I've not typically smelled in any other sandalwood-based fragrance. This has a very cozy and gourmand presence and is elegant and gorgeous throughout. One of my all-time faves from the brand! 😁
I literally JUST realized that the doors on your cabinets were open. 😂 Have I been missing that this whole time?? I'd imagine it's from the glare. But I do love this scent! Along with Chergui, they were my first two loves from the brand.
Uncle Serge is just a blind-buy house. Yup. Just recently picked up five o'clock gingember, Bapteme de feu, and La cauche du diable. I know five o'clock, but the other two are blind buys. Going to get Santal Masjuscule and Le Particpe today. I know both of them. Going to get the Ecrin one also when it becomes available. Don't know it. Great review Marc. Best holiday wishes.
Very good take on one of my favorite SL fragrances. It was the first one I bought for myself and one of all time favourites alongside Borneo, Fille en aiguilles, Chergiu, Ambre Sultan, Arabie... Much appreciate whole house, when I first started sniffing niche fragrances I thought SL is what niche should be about it wasn't as hyped as some more expensive brands but it delivered the same or even more quality actually. Nice elegant bottles, dark juices full flavour it was all we could ask for back then and now as well. Only problem is they are not so easy to find at least where I am. Thanks for doing this one, I couldn't agree more with buttery feel you mention, very rarely I see people differentiating buttery and creamy and I like you pointed out that one, small handicap for Santal Majuscule may be that you tried it now after all the rest which that are amazing so it could have that slight feel of redundancy but on it's own it's home run it's amazing.
Cheers yet again M. I do enjoy this one it’s very easy to wear around people and clearly liked as it is always mentioned back to me on wearing it at work,it’s a fabulous twist on other sandalwoods I have in the collection, I noticed your reply to a comment on distribution with S.L.and the selling exclusively out of Paris would be really limiting their sales 😮in general?? Weirdest thing for sure for any businesses who’s goal is to be successful and expand?? Cheers Marc have a great weekend ✌️🙏👍
I think they didn't like that discounters got hands on them and decided to instead sue. They limited distribution. So now they can easily keep an eye on who gets them or not.
Yes you got to the operative descriptive word for this sandalwood at about the 8:00 mark: BUTTERY. I have a full bottle of this. Its now my favorite sandalwood frag. I have a decant of the discontinued Jeux de Peau too, and there is a lot of overlap, although Jeux de Peau is full-on bakery bread gourmand. Both fantastic.
Reminds me of a chocolate brownie but more so semi-sweet not very sweet mixed with a dry but at the same time slightly jammy rose. One of my favorite from the house
I had this about 8 years ago,.. it smelled different. It is reformulated. It still smells great, But I remember the old scent, so this is not the same . If this is new for you, it is a really great scent. Chergui is also reformulated,.. Ambre Sultan is still the same. I do love the house of Serge Luten. great brand. I will need to come back to Santal majuscule with a new open mind, it was one of my favorite perfums. I always have a hard time if something is reformulated with any brand. I have the same with Black Orchid,.. I smelled it right in the beginning,.. it doesn't smell the same. You all should really check out Santal majuscule,... it is great. I need to go back and smell with an more open mind
This fragrance is in my top 3 favorite fragrances of all time, absolutely stunning and a cornerstone of this house.
Big love for it! Nice to see that.
One of the best fragrances from one of the best houses
Quack!

I love this comment. Great take and I look forward to delving into it more.
100% one of the scents you wear for yourself, just so comforting and clean
We used to dry roses in books. Smells just like it. Very nostalgic for me.
💯

Yes they are open because of the glass and the lighting ✨️
I love this fragrance I had it in a tester and it has been on my wish list for a while. I will be picking this one up.
It's so good! It's a solid grab!

I'm trying to collect the brand as well lately.

It's still great and I think with time I'll appreciate it even more.

@@robes08 yeah I guess they were going for great prices back in the day Marc 👍
Love this fragrance man. Nice take brother. I get a rosey cacao salty sandalwood. Have a nice one 👍
Thanks for watching! Love your take as well
I've had a small bottle of this for a few years. It reminds me of my mom and is a total comfort scent to me.
💯 comfort scent
Wonder what are the other two SL uncle Marc have to unbox 🤔
It's a surprise 🤫

I agree on both being fantastic.
I was waiting for this review I love this fragerance since we can't get surge lutens in usa anymore I am hesitant to use it so I don't run out lol
Truth. I'm trying to get as many from the old line as I can.

It's a good one and you explain it really well.
Thanks for sharing!!
I too find it close to Jeux de Peau... Very nice and probably easier to understand than Jeux de Peau, I guess.
True, I like jeux alot so this is right up my alley.

It's great scent. Thank you for your detailed view on reformulations.
Good review! Thank you!
Just curious between this one and Ecrin de Fumee, which one would u prefer?
How is the longevity on this one? Amber Sultan doesn’t lasts much and it’s barely projecting on me.
I thought it did well enough 6 hours min
@@robes08 Not bad really, thanks. Would you say it is a good fragrance for someone who is not a big fan of rose scent, since the rose is there?
Reminds me of Xerjoff Richwood
Hmm, now you make me want to make a side by side.
Thank you for your video
You are welcome
