Great player, teacher, though at 2:00, does he briefly misspeak?, for E7, "G turns to Gnatural". For E7 I think he meant to say the D# turns to a Dnatural? Or am I missing something? I think for E7 you need the G# (major third), the major 3rd, flatted 7th is what he plays to demonstrate the Mixolydian over each dominant.
@@richieknight5423 I said Andy is awesome, just asking for some technical breakdown I don't feel is foolish, but if your the king of fools you would recognize your subject..
This guy has given me some good infos and know how... but what is it with the sound when he goes into his actual playing , that to much reverb and delay that sounds like that consensual elevator jazzy music ! Fuck this is 2018 we have enough distance with it all to know that you don’t have to excuse yourself for playing rockn roll or blues and make your guitar sound like piss.
@@billmoore4490, it's not hard, he's just showing 3 Mixolydian modes over 3 dominant chords, that's it. This, as opposed to just playing, say, all pentatonic stuff. Just learn 2 fingerings of Mixolydian in one area in one octave, like he said... then go from there. Don't overthink it.
all these videos are like watching these guys jam, which is cool but not helpful, instead break your solo into pieces up the entire neck ,in slow moe then tell us hey this is chromatic, or modal, or whatever, otherwise these vids are all the same shit, seems like you great players are holding back, we aint gonna take your job, believe me!
+Frank Dougherty a lesson at a music college also wouldnt be helpful to you, because you need a certain 'entry-level'. Andy is actually sharing some valuable stuff here. Dont call these video's shit, just because you don't understand them.
I did say they are all the same shit what I meant is a guy playing up and down the neck, but we are left wondering was that a mode, a penetonic or major scale. its not slowed down enough to see, I love Andy and his playing, for someone to insult me and say a music course would not help me, you don't know me, we are players that's why we're here , let's try to help each other not criticize, for those who pointed out what he was playing, thank you...
Hindrik Hoekstra , for you to say a college course would not help me, your ignorant, I've been playing 30 years, I don't remember your name on the g3 tour, i. can sign up for any college course I choose, I don't need your approval, I said something, you took it the wrong way, period, good luck and good bye.
One of my favourite guitarists. Great teacher too.
So tasteful and musical! Excellent lesson ideas!
To awesome Andy. Love it. First course I'm considering to buy.
This is so sweet!

That's really knowing your way around a guitar neck...

yes, he meant G gets G#, for E7
Correct
Correct but your missing the point entirety
Basically: I know fuck all of how to do it but I do know the scales related to that concept
it's amazing how you can't say what you want without someone, sticking there two cents in, everyone is. entitled to their opinion period...
Think about that statement from the point of view of everyone involved in the conversation. Basically you want to speak and mute everyone else. Fool.

I think he's cheating and adding some extra notes.
He's playing fairly modally, as he said, he's just using a number of approaches to do it.
@@SteveCarroll2011 Cheating😂😂😂😂😂🙄🙄🙄🤔.
I feel guilty that this is free. I’ll buy a tshirt or something
Good man
2:01 - 2:14 "Mmmmkay"

This was released in 2015. Listen to Eric Johnson. He's *always* got a nice Echoplex-type delay running behind him.
I like Andy a lot, but man, this vid does me no good.
+Jason Cavitt yeah cause its hard as shit lol

I didn't call anything shit your mistaken
Pretty much the First chord he plays in a major
2nd chord he plays in dmajor
Then when it goes to E7 he plays in E major
