*Have you tried keeping fish in a mini pond before? If not, here is Cory's presentation on how easy it can be: **ruclips.net/video/SEnv3QWLIMw/видео.html*
I know it’s an old video, but as a plumber, I put unions on the same way. I put them on so that the top ring will fall with gravity into place and will tighten clockwise instead of having to work upside down; working upside down increases the chance of cross threading greatly, and as was stated in the video, you can visually see and inspect the gasket material for placement and condition.
whtieclouds can be as easy as a tub, water, moss (or whatever plant you prefer) and a sponge filter. that's what im running currently and it works great!
I have been using one of these tubs as an indoor guppy pond for 13 years. I cut a notch in the rim to hang a small HOB on it with an intake sponge. I got a round pane of glass at a hobby shop to put on top as a lid. It has worked great all these years with no leaks and hasn't crashed since it was first cycled.
I was ridiculously excited to get this notification. I've been waiting impatiently for this video since I saw the teaser photo on the members tab last week. Additional membership perk: giving me something to look forward to!
This video was THE BEST easy pond creative idea EVER!!!! Inexpensive, simple and super cool invention!!!! Totally LOVING the simplistic and easy to follow instructions!!! Not only is Dean The Master Breeder, but he is truly ingeniously funny and humble!!!
This video came out at the perfect time, I've been looking at totes for a week now. I was going to grab a small garbage bin and toss a sponge filter into it, but this looks much more elegant.
This is amazing my autistic daughter loves looking at fish in pond I'm definitely going to make a couple of these for her to be entertained can't wait for all the hugs after
I've been watching this channel for few years off and on and the whole time I thought you guys were somewhere else in the country and because of this video I figured out you guys are in Edmonds🤦♂️....which is like an hour from me or 30 min from work...
This is amazing. I like Dean's DYI a lot. Not only because often there are ideas I didn't see before but also due to how esthetical finished project looks like
OMG, ive watched so many videos of Dean and his breeding room etc. This though, was amazing to me. And also, thanks so much for allowing us to watch you at work from the comfort of YOUR living room :)
I really wish there was more footage of the original bucket working to see how the air uplift system works. Without knowing more about how those work its hard to imagine how the pvc pipe works with just a dry fit
There are lots of videos showing the mechanics of an airlift pump in you tube, even using 4” inches pipes. The height is limited though but I believe is quite cheaper to run compared to a water pump in general.
Yeah thanks for the comment, I'm new to the hobby and completely clueless to how that system is gonna filter water. At least now I know it's called an air uplift system so I can do more research. What is the forever air stone thing he put on the end of the black tube called and where do i get one though? He just called it "the thing that is the thing", and I don't think it's in the list of required items in the description. So I'm just a little dumbstruck right now. 🤔🤔🤔🤨😐
@@joshuaowen4290 it's the never clog air stone that zyiss makes. Sold on aquarium coops website. I have actually had one clog before. But in a fairly grubby tank. Lots of big cichlids. They are nice because they are weighted and you can adjust the bubble flow by tightening or loosing it up. Worth the extra dollar or two to buy.
not 100% but pretty sure you put the air stone not all the way to the bottom of the pipe so the air bubbles only have one way to go (up) and not out through the sponge in the tank. With the air pulling its way up and out it brings water with it. With this, there is a syphon type action with the water and thus you get the flowing system. The fittings at the bottom as Dean said, "this would be a glued fit" but for the quick sake of showing the video - he did not glue it. The other piece that screws to tighten works as intended. General rule of 5-10x the tank volume for turnover/flow rate for the tank. So for the 15gal in the video you would want at least a 75-150 GPH (Gallons Per Hour) personally i'd lean on the higher side and tune it down rather than not have enough flow.
This is the sort of thing you cannot do right on the first try, it takes trial and error. This guy just saved me tons of headache by sharing his expertise, thank you!

Awesome Project! I Love the interaction of Dean with everyone, it's like "You want me to make a video well Everyone will be in it even Camera Man Jimmy 💖. Great Job Dean and Thank You for the Info Aquarium Co-Op!
And now I have yet another fishy project to do. This is so cool and I'm excited to give it a try! I've wanted to do a pond but it gets cold here in the winter. Now I can give it a try.
You have to message Dean, and find out what dates/times, and which airline he likes. Last I heard he's booked through August 2022. He did say if someone buys his airline/hotel accommodations/food he would go🤷♂️
@@Lazy_Fish_Keeper 😆 I decided to make one myself and kinda messed up some how. 🤣 Dean really is a Master. 1. My little air pump wasn't strong enough. 2. I made the pvc too long and already glued the union and pvc together. 3. I added a adapter so I could fit the ½" pvc to the bulkhead elbow and realized after pvc cementing the adapter that the ½" pvc it would've probably fit anyway... I did kinda buy 2 of everything except the adapter and muck bucket... but I think I'll just do some precision cuts to my "master piece" and get it to the way Dean has his setup. 🙃 Don't use ½" pvc, airstone won't fit.

Hi there Cory How are you
Does adjusting power to the airline adjust flow?
50 bucks and a plane ticket to meet Dean and have a custom built pond by him??? Sold!!
No! I get him first!
I’ll throw in an extra $50 if he can get the airline through first try again 😂
Ikr, especially since he’ll have to fly to Australia for mine 😂😂
I’d happily invite him to where I live in Cyprus and give him a holiday, too. Holiday villa included! Dean, let me know! 😉

The chemistry between Cory and Dean is amazing. This come through in each of their videos!!
Any content with Dean is great, but this may be my new favorite.
Was literally thinking about how I’m going to overwinter my tub-pond white clouds today so this was very well timed! I love an ingenious Dean solution

White Clouds , love to watch them. One of my favorites.
I'm so confused is there no pump or is this a siphon
I’m in Sacramento, California, and just added a small heater to overwinter my guppies, danios, and whiteclouds.

The sound edit at the piece of air tube going into the hole is fire.
What do you attach the airline tubing to ? After you go to the airstone is it supposed to go to an air pump ? And what pushes the water up the PVC ?
That's what I'm saying??
it works the same way a sponge filter works, the air bubbles coming up the inside of the tube pull water up with it.

I think bending the pipe was financially beneficial if you want to save those extra bux, and it got me the idea of bending it from both sides.
Someone get Dean a plane ticket to Toronto! I need his mini pond expertise.
