So fun fact, the comic this is based on had the plane that went down be the exact same plane that did 9/11. So, in The Boys comics, Homelander is partially responsible for 9/11.
@@everybodylovesrae_ There are still 9/11 parallels in the show. Obviously plane, terrorists ect. But also homelanders speech "I hear you! And the whole world will hear us!" Is nearly word for word what George Bush said after 9/11
@@doobzsalam1847 Homelander in the beginning of this show was really influenced by Bush. Later on they transitioned more to Trump parallels. Maybe it's bc I'm older but I always thought the Bush parody was more fitting for what Homelander represents but people seem to enjoy it either way.
@@cthulhuwu_ Well if we wanna get REALLY analytical it could be taken as how America has gained more and more radical beliefs in a post 9/11 world. The homelander before and after flight 37 is different as he starts gaining much more power and it’s sort of the catalyst for lots of things. In the same way America which homelander represents the worst and most extremist of, has changed and gotten more radical post 9/11. Or they were just taking moments from the comics that took place and were written during the Bush era and therefore assigned homelander bush but as they expanded into there own story they moved onto a more modern topic

Ah, yes, the most consistent thing about this show: making us regret ever wishing for something. 😂 What was really great about the twist with Becca is that it's so foreshadowed early on that it's easy to forget up until it comes back to bite us.
its not a product of compound v, tek knights tumor affected a part of his brain and gave him a weird kink, while homelanders upbringing without a mother led to to have mommy issues. their privilege due to being supes led to both afflictions being brought to a higher extreme than they would have in a regular human. tek knights also rich as shit
Well, I think there was enough time from the moment the pilots died to at least have saved just the children. I mean how many kids are there an any given flight? Both Maeve and Homelander just saving who they could would have made a difference. If Shetty at least had her daughter and knew they tried to save her husband, she would have never sought revenge.
They could have saved them, Homelander did that on purpose. 15 sec before he destroyed the cockpit he lasers that one guy chirurgicaly in the chest not damaging anything else
There was no time. Maeve can't fly, so not only is she useless she's extra baggage Homelander had to carry in that scenario. They were over waters and real-life distances are much greater than people think, because all the movies people have seen. So when a movie or a tv show tries to be a bit realistic, it's like "no no, they could've done this". "But Homelander can fly really fast, so what difference does the distance make?" - it's really just basic physics. If he flew "that fast" people would just fall apart in his arms. It's why eventually Superman had to get extra properties (or powers even) to his powers, to explain how he can just fly and catch people and objects at these incredible speeds, because physics don't really allow for that. Also the moment Homelander accidentally lasered the cockpit he realized he can't save anyone, cause he can't have witnesses saying he was there (on time) and stopped the villains, but somehow couldn't save the rest of the people. There would be questions (as to what happened to the plane) he'd never want answered.
@@SlCKNESS_ a bunch of bs excuses. Maeve can survive a jump into water and HL could have saved two if he wanted. He didn’t care about saving people, wake up. 😝

Homelander did not do that on purpose. On some level he really enjoys killing humans, so the only restraint he shows is when he has an audience. The moment it was just him and Maeve he didn't even think he could damage the plane, he just lasered that guy he wanted to kill really quickly.
@@SlCKNESS_ Yea, thats a good argument i thought about that too. Its subtle , you have to watch the scene where Stillwell tells them about the plane, and how they are suposed to save it, Homelander doesnt like it , you can see it on his face. Its bc up until this scene he is always arguing with Stillwell in every scene she is in, she wants him to do one thing and Homelander thinks he knows better. its like a theme of their conversations. And its the same with the plane, Homelander doesnt like it bc he is told what to do again.I dont know if he planned to destory the plane from beginning but he was definitely going there to do it HIS WAY(it being getting supes into army), and he did. And he supercharged some jihadees all over the world give him some credit😁.
Surgically. Because he had time to plan it out and focus. He killed the guy in the cockpit out of reflex and in a split second. He didn’t have time to adjust his sights or account for anything behind him. So.. it was a genuine mistake. But an “oh well” mistake to him.
