Not only are your paint jobs fantastic - your editing, narration, and overall attitude is fantastic! Love your relaxed approach while still making a great effort to do these minis justice. Keep em coming!!
I painted these models over 20 years ago, still have them (with one stomped on by my sons when they were playing with them on the floor!) & loved painting them, such great poses & lore, so stoked when I saw your video, thanks so much!
Found you through another certain "Of Doom" youtube channel and I absolutely LOVE this, you're such a talent! The way you're able to paint these old models true to form, in a scheme that matches the era but elevate them with modern paints and make them look arguably better than what I'd see in the old codeces - you're even motivating me to have a crack at some of these old minis! you're a legend keep it up :)
Pink works really well but it skews it to orange. The bronze fleshtone makes it a bit more mustardy/brown. Both are great, you just need to decide which direction you want to go in.
I think the new models look fantastic, as did the finecast predecessors.. They obviously kept Jes Goodwin's design language and just leveraged the better modelling techniques available without straying too far. Exactly how I like it.
I agree, I really do think the new ones look great as well 👍 as you said they haven’t strayed too far from Jes’s original designs which is the right way to do it.
Really stunning paintjob! You manage really great paintjobs with the more standard painting techniques, but there's a whole world of all sorts of other ones if you are interested. Usually though those other types of paintjobs are more suited to different kinds of paintjobs, if you want to keep at recreating this great 90s vibrant GW style, then the techniques you are using are the correct ones and you should just keep honing them (you are very far already considering that you haven't been painting for long). Maybe do some other miniatures with the more modern painting techniques to experiment and see what you like? :)
Thanks mate! I’m glad you like it 🙌🍻 Yeah as I advance I’ll definitely be looking at painting some new diverse models. Right now I’m just painting up all the things I never got to paint as a kid and give me that hit of inspiration and nostalgia. I’ll be sure to do some more experimenting and trying some new techniques very soon 😊👍
@@anvilofdoomminiatures Now reading my comment it sounds a bit condescending and not as I meant it. I really love your style and the 90s style and models and I think most watch your channel because you can recreate it so well, you are very talented clearly and have so much potential. But yeah, I just meant to highlight other style as well, I personally paint only models from the 80s, 90s and up to around '04 but with a more modern realistic style, it comes natural to me but I really like the vibrant style too. But yeah, if you want to explore other painting techniques, I warmly recommend Vince Venturella here on RUclips, I've learned most what I know from him.
I just can't paint over white undercoat anymore. I prefer grey. It's a good mid tone between the usual black or white. White always looks patchy to me.
Yeah I don’t use white much anymore either as it’s pretty grainy. I’ve been using Wraithbone which is much smoother. I’ll have to give grey a shot one day 👍
Old metal miniatures are still the best. I'm so glad there other old timey modelers out there that share this love for the original figures. ❤👍 Tnis figure turned out brilliant 💥
Only good thing about metal minis is the weight when you move them around the game board. Their old derpy stunted proportions are laughably bad, lack of fine details and the paint chipping is infuriating; besides being blinded by nostalgia goggles, metal minis are inferior in every possible way to plastic.
@@Befferson no worries dude! The brand is Raphael :) and the one with the green is a cheap 00 size brush I got from the hobby shop and it's Micador Roymac. I hope that helps!

Thanks so much dude! I’ve been working hard to improve the quality of the videos so I really appreciate it🍻 plenty more are on the way! 😊🙌
This is step by step the super canonical ultra classical technique for Games Workshop minis. It made feel comfortable - like at home when I was a kid.
Process for the black highlights is great, been looking for a way to move forward from Dark Reaper. Thankyou. 🙂
The gold on that chainsword *really* pops! Very nicely done.
Thanks so much mate! 🤝🍻
Lovely stuff Dietz 😊
Thank you! 😊🙌
Mr Latham would approve! Great stuff matey, keep pumping them out!
Thanks so much dude! Will do 👍🍻😊
Awesome reveal mate. Great work with the tricky Color’s.
Thanks dude! Glad you like it 🤝🍻
You sell yourself short, that is really nicely painted.
Thanks dude! Too kind 🍻🤝
I’m not sure how Darren did it either, I think he has some kind of special magic
Paint is scared of him. It does what it’s told when he’s around.
Brilliant job as always mate 👍🏻 I love the old Eldar style too. You’ve really made this pop 😃
Thanks Stuart! Glad you like it mate 🍻🤝😊
Well done on yellow and green. That green came out super vibrant. Lovely job and awesome to see you continue pushing yourself. Love it, keep it up
Thanks so much man! I appreciate it! 🤝🍻
Brilliant paint job dude, looks awesome

Ah yes, the infamous banana-hat.
Looks good!

Some of your best work, great work mate.

Awsome video ... as usual! Please keep it up!

Metal models forever!
I agree! 🤝
I have seen one other person use pink as a basecoat under yellow, in case you wanted to try it

If u do a paint recommondation it would be nice if u said the brand 😉
Haha silly me, sorry mate! I didn’t realise Bronze Flesh tone was sold by other brands other than Vallejo.
Don't know why, the old ones look more badass to me. More attitude on 'em

what brush did you use with the larger tip?
Kolinsky sable size 1 😊
