16 years in 3 deployments. 7 years ago I gave a brief to my COL about how gaming can help people visualize combat in their minds. I wish I knew of this channel and ones like it back then. It would have served for a great proof of concept missed opportunities. He was very dismissive lol but we use them all the time especially now in 2022
When I did training in Fort Knox, we used a virtual reality game that was basically Arma. It was pretty cool. It was a bit buggy at the time because it was new but I would like to see where it is now.
It’s a learning curve for a lot of SMs but if they took a cross between VBS3 (what they use now) and dumbed it down alittle like Squad they could get company sized elements doing valuable “force on force” training in conjunction with CTCs like JRTC and NTC. So every other year an in person CTC and virtually simulated ops on off years. They could see the value in the TTPs they employ then learn the work actually put in to physically carry out their ops. Would save on time and money, and probably be more valuable at the individual level, in the long run
I really like when you add the Briefing segment in the beginning. It can be either in game recording of the real briefing that you had or your voiceover with some nice simple graphics similar to what you did in this video, maybe just a bit more detailed like what is the scenario (political background etc...), and more. But already this content is very good and probably my favourite style of Arma videos xD Keep up the great work.
I was part of a British milsim unit that was HARDCORE AF. Was mostly veterans and active duty that tried to make as 1:1 as possible. Quite the damn experience for some that has always wanted to join the Royal Marines, but took a different path in life. I see a lot of similarities here. It's sometimes fun doing this the hardcore way.
Really enjoy this new arma content. It would be great to have a detailed briefing section at the beginning of the video. Definitely enjoying the added realism your group brings to these, I think if you added that briefing portion it would enhance it and help it stand out in the youtube arma milsim space a little more. Would be cool to see a campaign where you guys generate a JPEL and hunt down everyone on it, use intel to drive operations and surprise follow-ons, etc.
MOST Excellent - this was a beautiful mission: comms and maneuver spot-on, and well edited with the different POVs to make clear(er) what was happening around the operation. I still LOVE the silly missions with chaotic comms and clown-car movements for the amusement factor, but THIS was very MilSim. Only been watching for a few months (just got internet out here in the sticks), but YOURS is one of my 4 top channels.
all squads have assassin and then a number. it follows as: Assassin 6- Company Commander Assassin 1-6 - Platoon Commander Assassin 1-1 - 1st squad ( composed of 9-10 guys depending, can change but mostly 9, having around 2 medics, 2 machine gunners, 2 fireteam leaders, 2 riflemen and one squad lead) Assassin 1-2, 1-3 - same squads but in different orders. Assassin 1-4 - weapons squad( have heavy AT arsenal to take out armored units usually something like a BMP or anything infantry based fighting vehicles having weapons like Javelins, stingers etc.) Assassin 1-7 - Assistance platoon Commander (2nd in command) Assassin 1-9 - platoon medic to provide assistance to any squad and set up CCP All Assassin squads 1-X are part of 1st platoon. 1-6 executes commands along with 1-7 and their overall supervisor being Assassin 6 who is the overall boss lead in the company. Karma has operated larger groups of players. So resulting in a 2nd platoon. which causes to have the same breakdown, starting 2-6, 2-7 platoon leads and executives with squads as 2-1,2-2,2-3,2-4 ( Same 9 man squad just different platoon) Overall assassin 6 being their overall commander. All units have separated Radio frequencies. Commanders of platoon use 31 ( for 1st platoon leaders and squad leaders to give out and receive orders) ( each squad like 1-1, 1-2, etc have their own separated frequencies, like Ex. 1-1 uses 110Hz, 1-2 would use 120hz) squad leaders and platoon leads have dual radios. One long range and short range. ( long range 31 for orders n short range for their personal squads in which they brief their squad members) There tons of more frequencies and radios used by many other different types of squads like savage( artillery squad), Butcher( armored support squad), demon( air non rotatory squad like helis), reaper( A-10,f35 etc), Ogre( logistics), and Stalker( air logistics). All have respective radios. Radio terminologies: If you are a squad leader and need to communicate to Platoon commander, Using radio, you sent our small short messages by calling out 1-6 by saying "1-6,1-4 send in orders" to which 1-6 your platoon leader response " 1-4,1-6 head to designated position marker by 6 figure coordinates and set up SBF(Support by fire position) Over" 1-4 SL responds " good copy 1-6, 1-4 out" There are many other terminlogies you need to learn like hold fire, lima charlie, 15 mike(means like 15 kilometers i think cant remember been a while sorry haha). As you can see it goes on further.

Random Q Karma: I've heard that the new COD MW games allow setting up custom matches with things like reduced movement speed/parkouring, fall damage, magazine discards, no HUD, no perks/killstreaks, etc. Is this something that's even remotely interesting for someone primarily invested in tactical games like Ground Branch, Squad, and the like? Is it something you could explore on the channel? Or is it "still COD" even with everything one could possibly do to make it more realistic/authentic?
The realism here is great! I’d have been “no more good” if someone had responded to hearing the F-word transmitted with, “Maintain radio discipline, soldier!”
Not comparing but what made me drawn to Arma was watching Jred do five paragraph orders and AARs back when he was doing stuff with TF Bangarang. Anyways Im glad you're doing something along those lines. I strive to do the same with DK2 but with full plans.
Lets try and get together @Karmakut The Group I run our entire goal is to run things as realistic as possible. From Clickable Blackhawks + Apaches to Calling in CAS. To the boots on the ground. We've been around for 4 years and are always looking for other likeminded people to do large Scale Events with.
Gear is from TFL or some variation of it made only to his unit. Some might be commissioned too (I know you might see him using a Haley Thorax soon lol). You cant get these in the workshop, so you would need to find someone who has the link for it
Some of the mods are: ACE, better inventory, animate, immerse, suppress, recoil coefficient, betterIR, weapon canting, TFAR, animations for TFAR and a version of blastcore(probably murr's) Some of the gear like the scopes are from RHS
So your unit, is it Rangers, Green Berets, or just a basic Army infantry group? Either way, overall you guys performed amazingly. I look forward to seeing more from your unit in the future and maybe if you're up for introducing some Delta guys, I'll bring one of my teams over from my Unit.
