I had the 750 Formula from new. At the time, I seem to remember it handling as well as the Aprilia RS250 it replaced in my garage. Fantastic bike. Didn't seem like a 750 from a handling perspective. The engine sometimes sounded like a bag of nails at the traffic lights, but the power delivery really was excellent.
I had a 750S with the Formula chip and Termi X Pipe system, its featured in a few videos 🙂 and you are right, it didnt handle like a 750 at all, or run like a twin, and yes, i miss my bag of spanners still lol, they sounded so much better from behind 🙂 there is even some footage of me taking it around Cadwel here ruclips.net/video/8OkejZPQbMs/видео.html Ride Free my friend
Your bike is truly beautiful
mine was the silver one not the flash one lol, and sadly i had to let it go, i wouldnt fold onlo it anymore lol, ive got its grandad now, here ruclips.net/video/tqQPNICah8g/видео.html
I've got a 750S and a 668 in my stable. First time I took that 750S on a ride, I had my mate running along. Before the 750S, I had a Ducati 748 and at the end of that ride on the Laverda I said to my mate: "I'm not really sure about this one". He replied: "what d'ya mean? I had a much harder time keeping up with you on corners than when you rode the 748?". Says 'nuff... :-) I always felt more comfortable riding that Lav instead of the 748 and 916 I owned before. That Laverda doesn't take your wrists off. It might lack some of the torque you get from a Ducati but that growl coming in at 'round 6000 rpm is a goose bumping thing!
I always loved the handling, but then i went to Cadwell Park on it, honestly, until that moment i never appreciated how good it really was, theres some footage of the first ride there on the Laverda here ruclips.net/video/8OkejZPQbMs/видео.html one of my older videos that few see lol
Never rode one but a guy I used to ride with had a older Laverda 750 that did blow up, but was not this model. More of a standard upright machine. Probably from the 1970's or 80's. You sure have rode some interesting bikes!
ive got an older 750 now, i had to let the Zane Laverda go, i just couldnt bend into position anymore lol
TOO TRUE, HOT A.F! So sad I had to sell mine , to emigrate too Malta, Bonkers engine, Impossible lean angles, and so light, an experienced mate, rode mine, came back grinning, and said "what a F@$%&*# Bike, it 's Quicker than a916 up to 200 Kmh, and pisses all over it on handling". That was on a track day at Cadwell , REALLY do miss her! Cheers DINO>
thanks for your support 🙂Cheers for adding your bit too mate. We must have missed each other at Cadwell so many times lol, Ride Free 🙂
I remember riding a Montjuic and a Mirage. They were quite something. I was only 18 at the time. Mate’s bikes and I asked for a test ride!
These were a very different beast although the engine was developed from theMotjuics engine, but it grew 250cc and got a water jacket lol, affectionately known as hand grenades lol
@@barebonesmc - I do recall their self-disassembly properties!
@@timhicks2154 to be fair, mine was great, it served me well, but going out on it was a bit like holding the pin down on a grenade, you knew if anything went wrong there was going to be a big bang
That is one stunning motorbike.
To be clear, mines the silver one not the flash one lol. there is more in the main video linked in the description 🙂Cheers for watching mate. Ride Free 🙂
I wish I could have one in the US!
Maybe an old one…
i know they aren't common there, keep the faith, took me many years to find mine
I took the engine out of one of those, it had broken the dogs off of 6th gear. I turned the engine upside down and managed to change it, luckily I found the bits. I took it for a test ride after, it didn't like doing 60 in top, horrible vibes. 75 in top at least, revved like a mother 😂. Long time ago now, beautiful thing not seen one for years😢
have to say i loved the engine, despite its flaws lol, there is some footage of me around Cadwell and if you compare it to the Daytona or the EXUP you can literally see how easy it made the riding. I have ridden many bikes there and few get even close to the handling of the Zane Laverda's, heres to 2024 mate, I hope you have a great year
@@barebonesmc yes the engine was a rev happy little bugger, keep it in the sweet spot like a two stroke and she loved it. Have a good Christmas break and thank you 👍
@@mickilgobachin6623 you too mate, heres to a great 2024, I hope it is a good one for us all
I remember those. Sadly I never got to try one….
ive ridden a lot of bikes but these really were a cut above on handling, the chassis was designed by Nicco Bakker though
Fully agree!
glad you enjoyed it mate 🙂 Theres plenty more on the channel and the website, let me know what you think. hope youll climb aboard. Cheers for watching. Ride Free 🙂
You should do a comparison to a Yamaha FZ400.
why specifically the FZ400? that isnt a bike that springs to mind when i think of best handling bikes, but its not a bike i know so well to be fair
Lucky you😅👍
wish I still had it, but i shouldnt complain, ive got its grandad here ruclips.net/video/tqQPNICah8g/видео.html
@barebonesmc your perseverance paid of in the end 👍
@@derekdingwall i am a stubborn old bugger lol, i think many would replace perseverence with pig headedness lol
