Can you use the calculator throughout the whole test
You would have to check with your test center but I would expect any exam that permits calculators would allow them for the entire exam.
thanks paul, im currently in school for (HVAC=E.M.T. and im really having a hard time in phase 2 @ the R.S.I. school can you help me?
Sorry, I would not be able to assist.
I appreciate your video Iam taking my journey man test soon your videos will help me !!
will the 2023 book be ok to take the journey man exam in one week
Not if the exam is based on the 2020 NEC. I would not recommend it.
I found 74.4 on motors what did i do wrong
Jeff, you need to watch it again as I spent over 10 minutes explaining the method to find that answer. It was (2) motors and 430.250 says a 208V 3-Phase is 74.8 Amps. If you do not see that then you have one of those wonky Amazon code books with errors in it. Watch it again and you will see the steps used in 430.24 and Table 430.250.
Mine said the same thing. 2020 cycle book.
You are not watching and paying attention. There are (2) motors in play here.
I appreciate your time and dedication to this craft & knowledge.
Thank you for sharing.
I'm simply trying to become a more versatile individual so I need to learn to do my own electrical work.
(Planning a bus build).
430.250 table under 25 hp, 208v is 74.4 not 74.8 full load current. No big deal but the through off is real when you are working to pass this test.
I attempted to get the answer using ohms law 50x746w/208v/ 1.732pf that give the total current of the two motors combined(under no load). It doesn’t gives the full load current gotta be careful of what the question is asking.
74.4x1.25+74.4= 167.4A and you don’t have to worry about the correct answer tripping the breaker 😅
I think you need to check your NEC again. The value under Table 430.250 for 208V is most certainly 74.8. You seem to have an error in your NEC. Did you buy it on amazon by chance.
Also, why on EARTH would you try to use ohms law in that question. The question is straight from 430.24 and Table 430.250. The one motor at 74.8 x 1.25 + this sum of the other motor, which is 74.8. The total is 168.3 so its 168. The method you attempted is 100 incorrect for this question.
