  • This Bible study devotional covers Job 3-6. In this passage Job wishes he had never been born. And Eliphaz, his friend, tries to explain that Job’s suffering is his fault. Suffering doesn’t happen to innocent people. He must have done something wrong.
As always, we are committed to showing you how Jesus fulfills these specific passages. Job 3-6 puts our ideas about good and bad, reward and suffering on trial. God rules the universe and in Jesus he disarms philosophies that blame the victim and shames them for the shame they cause.

Job is upright and blameless. But his suffering is the stripping and consuming of his human own virtues that he may gain God as his everything. God wants Job to gain Him. We can fully understand the book of Job by reading the New Testament books the epistle of Paul.

Well put, may I also add that Job's unjust suffering in way foreshadows the suffering of our beloved Messiah. 1 Peter 3:18-19
      King James Version
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
