Great video, thanks for posting! I bought one of these sets to stock my 5-drawer mechanic's cart from HF and I've used it quite a bit with zero problems. I just finished a big job on my triple axle boat trailer replacing all 6 springs, 6 rotors, 6 calipers, and brake pads, using all HF tools and hydraulic jacks and had zero problems. The tool that really shined tho was the Chicago Electric corded impact wrench and the Pittsburgh impact sockets. I tried busting the spring shackle nuts loose with a breaker bar and they wouldn't budge- years of salt water corrosion had welded them in place. I put that impact wrench on them and it zipped them off in just a couple seconds. Same with the caliper bolts and the lug nuts. I think I paid $35 for that impact wrench and it has been one of the best tools I've ever bought for saving time and energy. 👍
Doesn't skip sizes , goes up to 32 or 34, very good, actually IS professional quality, I bought it to replace my stolen tools, expecting something like a big version of a 10- $20 cheapo socket set , that I would replace with my first check, nope! I'll use these proudly . Keep the receipt tho, lifetime guarantee. I counted, yep, 72 tooth. And strong, the 3/8 drive anvil breaks at 200- 350 foot pounds, pretty standard for ball retainer anvil, but the gears didn't pop like craftsman often do. Surprised. That was a pretty comprehensive list there Adam Cotter. Can't agree more about the ratcheting combo wrenches, I went ahead and found some gearhead made in Taiwan 11, 16, 18, and 19 so that set is 10 through 19 no skips and is my go-to nut-turning solution. bonus is that the 11 is silver in the socket sets too, so my gearhead one "matches" color. {:-) Don't need to worry about getting the "pro" version of the 1/2" drive breaker bar though, just sift through their 24" ones for $8.99 and get a straight one. Those have a better head design than the Pro version anyway, and are super stout. There's a lot of this stuff if you don't get it for $4 to $10 at harbor freight you'll be getting it for $14-$30 at auto-zone or O'reilly's the day you need it NOW. Although there are some things you SHOULD buy from those stores especially if they're much closer than your harbor freight like they are for me.
The screwdriver you wanted to be educated on is a "starter screwdriver". The steel tweezers at the tip end are to hold the screw while you start the screw into the hole. I do not know how well that works though. I have a similar kit from Pittsburg and I like it.
Had this set for 3 years or so and had no problem with them . Now my bother and dad has a set after seeing oh well they hold up . You wont be disappointed if you bu one
Hollo. THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEW. I'm buying this set to keep in my Jeep for emergencies so I don't think I need Snap On and Craftsman quality for tools that are just sit there until needed. At home is a little different story. I'm in to Electronics, Bushcraft, and Photography (MY HOBBIES) so I buy the best quality I can afford. The nice thing about Electronics is that 99 percent of the time you can get by with a 1/4 inch drive socket set, small wrenches, and some drivers in different sizes and types.
I have this toolbox set and it gets the job done. Almost have it for a year and it’s great. Only down side is the ratchets broke but I went ahead buy me some new ones from HF
I know it's been a year when you post this coment but Why you didn't claim the warranty for life (it brakes bring it to the store and you get a replacement at not cost)

I'm not a tool snob.l have my dad's Craftsman tools, which are close to 50 years old, I also have Kobalt, Pittsburgh and Stanley. I also have some generic tools as well which have held up pretty well. I also have a socket and ratchet set that Mom and Dad got me for Christmas when I was a young teenager that came from K -mart. I broke the ratchet and the 17 mm socket trying to change a 4wheeler tire on the trail. The rest are still intact and in the toolbox on my pickup.
If you have craftsman from 50 years ago, that's some good stuff. You should definitely take care of them because they may not be made in the usa ever again.

My wife picked up that Kobalt set you mentioned a couple years ago for me as a gift someone miss priced it for sure cause she only payed like $110 for it lol but if not for that I would have got this Pittsburgh set for sure
Does anyone know if there are any "skips" on the metric socket sizes in this set? For example: 18mm, 19mm, NO- 20mm, then 21mm... Etc. That drives me insane. I don't care how rare a 20mm fastener is. They do exist. When I get a tool set, especially one with 300+ peices I want to know I have every size possible between the given range.

Honestly, as I am starting out as a mechanic, I am defidently picking this up. Even if something brakes, its super cheap to get it replaced, and I'm broke. Sooooooo, yeah.
No shame bud in this set for a starter. Just don’t fall for the Snap-On gimmick. Plenty of other quality brands: Husky, Duralast, Kobalt, Tekton and yes Craftsman. I own tools of these brands and some HF none let me down.
The 1/4" ratchet is skipping when I'm putting the torque to it, so it'll need to be replaced. The rest of the tools are working quite well. I've even used an impact on some of the sockets.
That's quite a tool set for the money. I'm looking at a $149 coupon right now and am seriously considering getting this set. ANYONE know of a set equal to or better than this one for under $300? Thanks for the review. 👍
I use these daily as a conveyor mechanic. The allens and wrenches are junk but everything else is great. Could use more robust screwdrivers but it works for the price.
Harbor Freight has really nice tools for a economy price people need to realize that you buy the tools you can afford yes I have some Snap-on tools I love them but they cost a small fortune if you can afford Snap-on Tools more power to you but if you're alike most DIY mechanics you buy what you can afford I'll look at it this way if you had a buddy ask you to go fishing with him occasionally would you go to Bass Pro Shop and buy a $3,000 rod and reel or would you go for the $30 start up kit
harbor tools are for emergencies, I work in diesel car and hydraulic extention broke easily on diesel engine , ratchet cheaply made what I like are the industrial gloves from hb now I been using duralast tools and I sure abuse these tools so far im happy ,
Niko Delmedico it's the mold they used maybe it was old and tried to get as many molds out of it as possible. My buddy got he's 2 months ago and same ones fell out. I wonder how long they have been using that mold for. Doubt they would fix it since it's priced cheaply.
a nice set to have because every time you work on something you round off the tools you try to use them you go by good tools to do your work an you still have a box full of shine useless tools to look at Lol
I was disappointed to find that the set does not include extensions for the 1/4 ratchet Plenty of space for it. It's not that I needed the extensions, but I like to have the tools as part of the case. A place for everything and everything in its place. I have plenty of extensions from previous tool sets but would have been nice to see them in this set.
I have this set and i use the sockets on my 1/2" snap on impact. I have only had one socket break in 3 years of using them like this. The sockets are great but the screwdrivers are awful.
this is a cheeper set, its probably good enough for most jobs as long as you never abuse it, but pittsburg pro stuff is much nicer, i love harbor freight and their high dollar stuff sure aint bad, i have a combo of hf and everything else, even have a few snap on, husky and grandpas tools like old montgomery ward, SK and craftsman, williams sockets and theres a few other old school brands in there we all respect as they come from a time before anything here was metric and tools were a mans pride and joy and they were well made in america by men who firmly believed in a job done right, hf tools are great for the money but theres a reason grandpas tools lasted long enough to be yours 80 years later
probably cause when its made in a factory those are the same sockets that get put on the little rails and sold in smaller sets, its cheeper to make one socket that goes in everything than to make basicly the same socket twice and just stamp them differently
I bought this 4 years ago. Meh! Good enough for most projects. The sockets and ratchets are solid, but the other stuff especially the screwdrivers are junk. They break and rust easily. Also, the case doesn’t hold the sockets in place very well, so they fall all over the place when the case is upright. I’ve spend so many hours sorting them. Ugh!
Harbor freight has this with coupon right now for $149. Not a bad value at all for the money The case is a flimsy piece of shit if they had made it a little better I'd actully get it.. I just see those dividers breaking and 200 sockets going everywhere
Surprisingly the case isn't that bad. I'm sure it would fail at some point if it was moved around constantly. My case is mostly empty now being that the tools are organised in my tool chest.
$199 on harbor freight right now, with cupons and such can drop it to $150, I had bad luck with harbor freight, sears is always having tool set sales, they have a 405 pc tool set for $189, I would spend an extra $30 for craftsmam tools and have better quality plus I feel safer using better tools, hatbor freight tools just beake and are like condoms, good for the heat of the moment then useless or very unsafe for another go.
I don't look craftsman is any better than harbor freight any more. They used to be, but personally, I've had more craftsman products fail than harbor freight tools. Just my opinion

Take the 3 ratchets and throw them in the trash buy you some good ones used my brothers and broke the 3/8 first then broke the 1/2 both on brake caliper bolts went and bought some sk ratchets to replace them
Who ever dosent know that Pittsburgh is pure trash doesent know anything about tool qulity. Obviously they work they are designed too. Thats with anything you buy. If i buy a $5 fishing reel and rod yea it will catch a fish but its not going to last its not smooth and cheap materials. Like i said it will work for someone fixing something every once in a blue moon. But i can tell you first hand i was the guy for a long time that would buy anything i could save a buck on. But i learned my lesson with Pittsburgh tools. (Litterly)! I was doing a break job and one side came off then got to the other wheel and it started striping the bolt. I could not get it off. I called my step dad who is a mechanic. He said what kind of rench or you useing. I said just a regular rench and he said no ! What brand? I said Pittsburgh. He said that probley the problem. I thoght he was just trying to be sarcastic because he is a snap-on guy. So he comes over and has a craftsman rench (not the new chinese garbege there makeing but before 2011) he goes and it takes that bolt rite off. What i learned is that it may look similar but its about the material used and ultimately the fit. If your talking about tools. Pittsburgh is the verry worst tools you can buy. Yes there are ones as bad but there made with the cheapest steel on the cheapest machines. The good stuff is highly refined materials and made on high end machines. If your trying to save a buck. Your better off geting stanley at Wal-Mart thats the cheapest tool i would buy. But if your buying out of a box store. At the moment kabolt makes the best tools with the best warrnty they have the lifetime warrnty but they also offer a protection plan to where if you lose one they will replace it. Then husky is the second best they are not quite as nice as kabolt. But you get a tad more for the money. They both have no hasle no questions asked tool replacement. Then you have good ole craftsman. Yep! The go to good qulity brand that was cheap that our dad and grandfather used. So why not get those? Well when sears started looseing all this money and about to go bankrupt they got the dumb ideal to save money by takeing there trusted USA made tool brand. Well they sent it to china. It still looks almost the same until you look at it in person. The metal is verry cheap it literly will have peaces of metal hanging off of it prick you. The finish is horrible. And it is a lot thicker and the fit is not as good. It weighs more and thicker due too the poor qulity of matireal they have to use to make up the strength from useing cheaper metal. But there is a glimmer of hope. The stanley black& decker company boght them out. Rite now the polished stuff at lowes is just the black stanley tools rebranded and in chrome instead of black. The original craftsman is the horible finished stuff i was talking about. But there is a glimmer of hope. They just made a pledge to turn the craftsman brand back into USA made tools that we are used too and love. They said it may take a little while but atleast its comeing back. But until then if you want the best of the cheap stuff that you can just go swap out when it breaks get kabolt. If you want something a tiney bit less qulity but a little more tools get husky. If you just want something that will work for a little while but not that nice and you have to mail it in to replace it and pay for shiping. Get stanley. If you want the worst tools they make that will strip bolts and the rachets will break get Pittsburgh. Now harborfreight does have some deasent stuff. But you have to pick and choose. But as far as there tool sets there renches and rachets. Absolutely the worst. Except the gear renches ive been realy surprised with them. They fit preatty good and have held up. Lmfao. Life time warranty is life time warranty. Does it matter to the average joe. Not to mention it's not always the quality some times it's the knowledge of the wrencher and not the quality of the wrench. Also in addition most of use average joes don't have to worry about re selling our tools. We don't do it for a living. It's beyond a great starting kit.

That was a pretty comprehensive list there Adam Cotter. Can't agree more about the ratcheting combo wrenches, I went ahead and found some gearhead made in Taiwan 11, 16, 18, and 19 so that set is 10 through 19 no skips and is my go-to nut-turning solution. bonus is that the 11 is silver in the socket sets too, so my gearhead one "matches" color. {:-)
Don't need to worry about getting the "pro" version of the 1/2" drive breaker bar though, just sift through their 24" ones for $8.99 and get a straight one. Those have a better head design than the Pro version anyway, and are super stout.
There's a lot of this stuff if you don't get it for $4 to $10 at harbor freight you'll be getting it for $14-$30 at auto-zone or O'reilly's the day you need it NOW. Although there are some things you SHOULD buy from those stores especially if they're much closer than your harbor freight like they are for me.

The screwdriver you wanted to be educated on is a "starter screwdriver". The steel tweezers at the tip end are to hold the screw while you start the screw into the hole. I do not know how well that works though. I have a similar kit from Pittsburg and I like it.

Hollo. THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEW. I'm buying this set to keep in my Jeep for emergencies so I don't think I need Snap On and Craftsman quality for tools that are just sit there until needed.
At home is a little different story. I'm in to Electronics, Bushcraft, and Photography (MY HOBBIES) so I buy the best quality I can afford. The nice thing about Electronics is that 99 percent of the time you can get by with a 1/4 inch drive socket set, small wrenches, and some drivers in different sizes and types.
I think harbor freight is better than snap on for the average person. I don't think snap on will ever pay for itself for most people

I'm not a tool snob.l have my dad's Craftsman tools, which are close to 50 years old, I also have Kobalt, Pittsburgh and Stanley. I also have some generic tools as well which have held up pretty well. I also have a socket and ratchet set that Mom and Dad got me for Christmas when I was a young teenager that came from K -mart. I broke the ratchet and the 17 mm socket trying to change a 4wheeler tire on the trail. The rest are still intact and in the toolbox on my pickup.
If you have craftsman from 50 years ago, that's some good stuff. You should definitely take care of them because they may not be made in the usa ever again.

John Morgan my pop got the craftsmen 300 piece toolbox for 50 dollars because of misplaced sign on black friday.
I've gotten both the kobalt and craftsman Black Friday sets usually around 225 for 100.
Does anyone know if there are any "skips" on the metric socket sizes in this set? For example: 18mm, 19mm, NO- 20mm, then 21mm... Etc. That drives me insane. I don't care how rare a 20mm fastener is. They do exist. When I get a tool set, especially one with 300+ peices I want to know I have every size possible between the given range.
This set does contain one 20mm socket. It's 3/8 drive shallow well.

You're welcome. I know most auto parts stores sells sockets individually so you could fill in the gaps. That's what I plan on doing anyways.

No shame bud in this set for a starter. Just don’t fall for the Snap-On gimmick. Plenty of other quality brands: Husky, Duralast, Kobalt, Tekton and yes Craftsman. I own tools of these brands and some HF none let me down.

The 1/4" ratchet is skipping when I'm putting the torque to it, so it'll need to be replaced. The rest of the tools are working quite well. I've even used an impact on some of the sockets.

I use these daily as a conveyor mechanic. The allens and wrenches are junk but everything else is great. Could use more robust screwdrivers but it works for the price.

Harbor Freight has really nice tools for a economy price people need to realize that you buy the tools you can afford yes I have some Snap-on tools I love them but they cost a small fortune if you can afford Snap-on Tools more power to you but if you're alike most DIY mechanics you buy what you can afford I'll look at it this way if you had a buddy ask you to go fishing with him occasionally would you go to Bass Pro Shop and buy a $3,000 rod and reel or would you go for the $30 start up kit

Quality is about equal to Craftsman. Pittsburgh tools are made in Taiwan as well as China.
harbor tools are for emergencies, I work in diesel car and hydraulic extention broke easily on diesel engine , ratchet cheaply made what I like are the industrial gloves from hb now I been using duralast tools and I sure abuse these tools so far im happy ,

Niko Delmedico it's the mold they used maybe it was old and tried to get as many molds out of it as possible. My buddy got he's 2 months ago and same ones fell out. I wonder how long they have been using that mold for. Doubt they would fix it since it's priced cheaply.

Most of their stuff is Taiwanese. They moved on a bit from the China made stuff. Believe it or not harbor freights quality has gone up.

They're doing quite well. The only issue I have is the 1/4 in ratchet.
It is a decent set for the average guy but it is not meant for professional use or for impact tools.
I was disappointed to find that the set does not include extensions for the 1/4 ratchet Plenty of space for it. It's not that I needed the extensions, but I like to have the tools as part of the case. A place for everything and everything in its place. I have plenty of extensions from previous tool sets but would have been nice to see them in this set.
I have this set and i use the sockets on my 1/2" snap on impact. I have only had one socket break in 3 years of using them like this. The sockets are great but the screwdrivers are awful.

this is a cheeper set, its probably good enough for most jobs as long as you never abuse it, but pittsburg pro stuff is much nicer, i love harbor freight and their high dollar stuff sure aint bad, i have a combo of hf and everything else, even have a few snap on, husky and grandpas tools like old montgomery ward, SK and craftsman, williams sockets and theres a few other old school brands in there we all respect as they come from a time before anything here was metric and tools were a mans pride and joy and they were well made in america by men who firmly believed in a job done right, hf tools are great for the money but theres a reason grandpas tools lasted long enough to be yours 80 years later

probably cause when its made in a factory those are the same sockets that get put on the little rails and sold in smaller sets, its cheeper to make one socket that goes in everything than to make basicly the same socket twice and just stamp them differently

You won't get these cheap much longer with this inflation. As of 2021 it went on sale a couple of times for $149.99.
I bought this 4 years ago. Meh! Good enough for most projects. The sockets and ratchets are solid, but the other stuff especially the screwdrivers are junk. They break and rust easily. Also, the case doesn’t hold the sockets in place very well, so they fall all over the place when the case is upright. I’ve spend so many hours sorting them. Ugh!

Surprisingly the case isn't that bad. I'm sure it would fail at some point if it was moved around constantly. My case is mostly empty now being that the tools are organised in my tool chest.

$199 on harbor freight right now, with cupons and such can drop it to $150, I had bad luck with harbor freight, sears is always having tool set sales, they have a 405 pc tool set for $189, I would spend an extra $30 for craftsmam tools and have better quality plus I feel safer using better tools, hatbor freight tools just beake and are like condoms, good for the heat of the moment then useless or very unsafe for another go.
I don't look craftsman is any better than harbor freight any more. They used to be, but personally, I've had more craftsman products fail than harbor freight tools. Just my opinion

Who ever dosent know that Pittsburgh is pure trash doesent know anything about tool qulity. Obviously they work they are designed too. Thats with anything you buy. If i buy a $5 fishing reel and rod yea it will catch a fish but its not going to last its not smooth and cheap materials. Like i said it will work for someone fixing something every once in a blue moon. But i can tell you first hand i was the guy for a long time that would buy anything i could save a buck on. But i learned my lesson with Pittsburgh tools. (Litterly)! I was doing a break job and one side came off then got to the other wheel and it started striping the bolt. I could not get it off. I called my step dad who is a mechanic. He said what kind of rench or you useing. I said just a regular rench and he said no ! What brand? I said Pittsburgh. He said that probley the problem. I thoght he was just trying to be sarcastic because he is a snap-on guy. So he comes over and has a craftsman rench (not the new chinese garbege there makeing but before 2011) he goes and it takes that bolt rite off. What i learned is that it may look similar but its about the material used and ultimately the fit. If your talking about tools. Pittsburgh is the verry worst tools you can buy. Yes there are ones as bad but there made with the cheapest steel on the cheapest machines. The good stuff is highly refined materials and made on high end machines. If your trying to save a buck. Your better off geting stanley at Wal-Mart thats the cheapest tool i would buy. But if your buying out of a box store. At the moment kabolt makes the best tools with the best warrnty they have the lifetime warrnty but they also offer a protection plan to where if you lose one they will replace it. Then husky is the second best they are not quite as nice as kabolt. But you get a tad more for the money. They both have no hasle no questions asked tool replacement. Then you have good ole craftsman. Yep! The go to good qulity brand that was cheap that our dad and grandfather used. So why not get those? Well when sears started looseing all this money and about to go bankrupt they got the dumb ideal to save money by takeing there trusted USA made tool brand. Well they sent it to china. It still looks almost the same until you look at it in person. The metal is verry cheap it literly will have peaces of metal hanging off of it prick you. The finish is horrible. And it is a lot thicker and the fit is not as good. It weighs more and thicker due too the poor qulity of matireal they have to use to make up the strength from useing cheaper metal. But there is a glimmer of hope. The stanley black& decker company boght them out. Rite now the polished stuff at lowes is just the black stanley tools rebranded and in chrome instead of black. The original craftsman is the horible finished stuff i was talking about. But there is a glimmer of hope. They just made a pledge to turn the craftsman brand back into USA made tools that we are used too and love. They said it may take a little while but atleast its comeing back. But until then if you want the best of the cheap stuff that you can just go swap out when it breaks get kabolt. If you want something a tiney bit less qulity but a little more tools get husky. If you just want something that will work for a little while but not that nice and you have to mail it in to replace it and pay for shiping. Get stanley. If you want the worst tools they make that will strip bolts and the rachets will break get Pittsburgh. Now harborfreight does have some deasent stuff. But you have to pick and choose. But as far as there tool sets there renches and rachets. Absolutely the worst. Except the gear renches ive been realy surprised with them. They fit preatty good and have held up. If you do buy anything get the pro. But you can buy better stuff for the price than the pro. Iam just trying to give some advice. Thanks

Not to mention it's not always the quality some times it's the knowledge of the wrencher and not the quality of the wrench. Also in addition most of use average joes don't have to worry about re selling our tools. We don't do it for a living. It's beyond a great starting kit.
I use them all the time on rust belt vans/trucks. Lifetime warranty. I broke a 15 on a hub bearing. Otherwise great buy
