Bayle's boss fight was simply incredible, definitely one of my favorites so far in my FromSoftware journey. (Also, I spelled Bayle's name wrong in one of my edits, please don't come to my house and slap me around)
Hey brother, the new meta fir fighting bosses is jumping... do not dodge Roll.. get used too jumping most boss attacks can me jumped. Also walking in a circle directly around a opponent to the left will help with some physical attacks.
@Kiri-Max it's hard to get time during fight but the Placi heads stretch from just behind Bayles head down the length of his back I didn't notice till I was watching another Bayle fight and paused for a 2nd look.
In Vaati's dragon lore video, he theorized that the Old Lord's Talisman was made at a time when Placidusax had 4 heads, which still works since Bayle only took 2.
Here's a summary of Bayle's lore. After Placidusax's god left Farum Azula Bayle came in the night to sneak Placidusax and take his spot as the ancient dragon lord. Bayle started losing so he tried to run and placidusax bit onto him with 2 heads and bit off a leg and a wing but bayle ripped the heads off with him and you can still see them latched onto him. Also he fights you using his shattered forearm bone using it as a spear if you didn't notice, which is pretty cool. But hes a loser who ran away after trying to sneak Placidusax. And thats why the dragon priestess and all of the ancient dragons are there, except the ancient dragon you fought who betrayed Placidusax and the church of dragon communion. Also make sure to go back to Gaius' arena theres some goodies in the back, look at the map.
Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior! And I, Igon! Your fear made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon … But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being! -Igon probably
At 29:05, you got hit by a big AoE attack..for such attacks, I recommend locking off and looking at the ground, there are always safe zones between the pool of fire AoEs (similar to fire giant's attack) where you can safely stand or dodge from. Great episode, great gameplay..keep em coming!
I will say a weapon that has a projectile definitely helped me in this fight. My build is a ice battle mage so I used the Clayman’s harpoon with the ice spear ash of war. I also used the Smithing Tailsmen to boost my attack. It helped me maintain my distance while applying an attack.
@@SerialChiller12101 Personally I assumed that staying close would be the way to go because I wield a greatsword, mostly relying on jump attacks, and I had no problem whatsoever with Gaius. People always complain about his hitboxes so I thought said hitboxes might only really show up in long range battle since mine had no problem whatsoever. I guess the charge can be somewhat annoying but I simply rolled through it. According to some comments I've read you can also avoid it by rolling in an angle but idk. (I had a medium roll btw)
Great video! Igon should win an award for best va lol. Also, yeah. Commander Gaius is the worst boss in the dlc. No one likes him, he sucks. I can't wait for you to finish the Ymir questline and fight the boss at the end of that! It's such a weird boss! Still fun though. Also, there's a hidden area called the Abyssal Woods that's found beyond the Darklight catacombs. In Shadow Keep, in the area with all the boats, theres a ladder on the side of a wall that leads down. Theres a painting down there that you hit, and itll disappear. You head forward through that area and find a coffin. Get in the coffin, and you'll be in an area you couldn't get to before. Head down the left side of the river and do some parkour and you'll eventually get to the catacombs. From there, just complete the catacombs and you'll enter the woods. One of the best bosses in the game is located in a mansion hidden deep inside. Hope this helps!
Something you can do if you don't want to hunt down the rocks for the sealed spiritsprings is go on top of the spring and use Margit or Mohg's shackle. The range on it is pretty large and you can even use this to find illusory walls.
Bayle's lore is he fought Placidusax for the title of Elden lord and they both messed eachother up. The Placidusax we fight is covered in scars and missing 2 of his heads, and Bayle is missing a leg, both of his wings and has 2 of Placidusax heads stuck in his neck. Both of these dragons when we fight them are already crippled and nowhere near their full power
It's awesome to see you play this now. You've come a long way. I have too. That's one of my favorite things about these games. They really make you improve as a gamer. 👍
Igon voice actor goes so hard. Also the whole character and story is a retelling of Moby Dick. Igon is Captain Ahab. I loved the placidusax lore tie in, Bayle was so epic!
Ik that's a kinda obvious comparison to make, but Bayle the Dread really makes me think of Balerion the Black Dread. Sick fight, and I love Igon (best metal vocalist in the Shadowlands)
Quick tip for the sealed spirit spring. Use either margits or moghs shackle next to the spring. It will save you the trouble of looking for the stack of rocks to break.
Loved BAYLE. Such a challenging and fun fight. I really want FromSoft to inject more npc dialogue for summons in the future. Makes the fight feel so lively. That death had me rolling man. With my build it's where I had most of the DLC bosses for hours before I would finally beat them.
** Correct me if i’m wrong *** But I read somewhere that Igon and Bayle the Dread are references to the Targaryen’s. Aegon the Conquerer has 3 main dragons , his main one being Balerion The Dread ( they said he was so large his shadow can swallow an entire town when he took flight)
Always fun to see what bosses others struggled with. My buddy was hyped to see me fight Gaius cause he had kick my friends ass repeatedly. Ended up handling him in one go, got me down to 1 flask though. Sennesax however, just rolled me for like 60 tries.
@trevorjrooney My first playthrough of the DLC was on NG+6, and Sennesax definitely whooped my ass. Ended up riding on Torrent and throwing 50 blackflame fire balls at it because % damage was easier than trying to fight a lightning dragon in water
Since you like big bonk weapons, you should try the bloodfiends arm with the bleed affinity or occult and up your arcane unless you got a good amount, the bleed on that weapon is insane and if you put cragblade on it for the ash it poise breaks bosses in like 2 to 4 heavy attacks
I always bring out mimic when i get surprised by a random miniboss if im low on healing. Otherwise i personally can't stand him. He makes things harder sometimes when i can't tell who the boss is aiming their attacks at
If you are above 54 strength and 2handing the weapon, you are already above the soft cap for strength so better to put extra point into something else, like dex of faith especially in dlc where faith stat is necessary for alot of interesting items or just dump em into dex for quality build 😊
I hate Gaius too made me angrier than any other boss in the dlc even the final boss of the dlc his hitboxes are way too big and he does a absurd amount of damage and he runs away from time to time and trying to use any long skill or spell will result in a damage trade or a hit on you 90% of the time
@@JahXplosivealso before you fight the final boss make sure to finish the dlc right before it because once you finish the game it puts you right into ng+
Unironically I think Gaius is just a terrible boss. the hyper aggression is the worst, not to mention he isn't interesting he just has annoying attacks.
Bayle's boss fight was simply incredible, definitely one of my favorites so far in my FromSoftware journey. (Also, I spelled Bayle's name wrong in one of my edits, please don't come to my house and slap me around)

I was there too but I found cookies so I just took those and left.

Not sure what I meant there but it wasn't cookies* 🤣🤣🤣
CURSEEEE YOUUUUU BAYLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I don't summon Igon for the help, I summon him for the voicelines.
Same. Dont care that he makes the boss have more hp. He makes the fight so epic.
@@pakee2352 he doesn’t give the boss more hp because his summon sign is in the arena it only increases when they’re outside the arena
Damn, 400 hours in game and i didnt know that.
Huge props to that voice actor. Probably my second favorite line.
I know right lol. The fight is not as good with out them.
"Is this lightning or fire?"
All I know is that it's FRIGHTENING!
It's does indeed count as both
Bohemian Rhapsody plays in the background.
Do you remember Placidusax? Bayle fought him and lose his wings and a leg, but Placidusax lost 2 of his heads in this fight
If you look carefully on Bayle's back, there are 2 rotting Placiduex heads 😮
Wait what? I did not notice
@Kiri-Max it's hard to get time during fight but the Placi heads stretch from just behind Bayles head down the length of his back I didn't notice till I was watching another Bayle fight and paused for a 2nd look.

Holy. The music sync at 19:17 is the craziest I’ve seen from this boss so far!
Ahh, such a long journey since the Tree Sentinel was the hardest boss you had encountered 😊
You’re definitely not the only one who doesn’t care for the commander Guias fight.
