As an aspiring oboe player ,I see this as the ultimate goal , such a beautiful interpretation of this marvelous work.... The young Holliger here shows why he became one of the very greatest!
This is a very rare reording, due to the following rasons; Marcello' concerto is known by two differnt veisions, i.e., C minor and D minor. Today, Holliger always plays in D minor, although he played here in C minor!
Captivating performance. Silvery characteristic sound of Heinz Holliger. Interestingly he stands and delivers. Immaculate passage work and wonderful control as always. Later in his career there developed much more movement from the knees in his style of delivery. This is HH at 20 years of age a consummate artist already. So lovely to see him.
I remember the first record of his I bought: Handel sonatas, Bach 1020 and Vivaldi C minor. I think I had been playing for a couple of years then and I couldn't believe my ears. I was in complete awe. That was fifty years ago, give or take, and his playing still has that effect on me. What always strikes me is that he there is never any gap between thought and sound. It is extraordinary. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Heinz Holliger is a God amongst men ! I've collected over thirty of his recordings. I know there is still many more recordings out there. Any oboist who is serious about becoming a soloist must study the recordings of Heinz Holliger.
That slow movement will melt your heart. I first discovered a recording of this concerto in the mid 1980s performed by another artist... magnificent. I have been to live concerts where it has been performed by other artists... breathtaking. Once met Heinz Holliger (very briefly) during the interval at a concert, he signed a programme for me. A brilliant artist, there is an album of him performing music Marin Marais and François Couperin....pure brilliance; a genius.
The original is a bit boring and has been revised and embillished by others. This one is a transposed version. The original is D minor. The C minor version sounds better IMHO.

Un verdadero y valioso documento el Maestro Holliger joven . Maravilloso muchas gracias
Amazing, Heinz is so young here. He truly is the gold standard for oboists. I truly enjoy all his LP's and CD'S.
Me too. I can't play the Oboe anymore. 😥😢
For me, oboists like Han de Vries are more a golden standard for me, but indeed Heinz Holliger plays very well, better than I ever will.
My goodness, such joy this brings to my soul..
I guess I'm pretty randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Rogelio Porter lately I have been using FlixZone. You can find it on google :)
I am an oboe teacher, and I learned things from this performance. I will watch again and again.
It's wonderful isn't it.

Wonderful to see the maestro when he was young.
Thank you so much for this document!
thanks for sharing this unique performance of the young Holliger.
I come back often. He was my inspiration when I started playing the Oboe in 1971, at the age of 10, and still is.
It was me a pleasure to see this upload
C’est vraiment magnifique.

Za mne jako za laika naprosto geniální.
his concerto in C minor sounds much like his concerto in D minor.

Holliger plays flawlessly, but it seems that Han De Vries also played this piece.
