2019 & 2022 Honda Insight: Seat belt recall

- An important recall has been issued for the 2019 Honda Insight and a smaller similar recall has been issued for the 2022 Honda Insight. Both recalls concern a safety issue with their seatbelts. This and some general news on what I'm up to.

I just had mine at the dealer this Saturday, and they just took care of the recall while my car was having the head unit replaced!
Did you happen to fix your windows yet?
Glad to hear they were able to do the repair immediately. I have little faith in people getting anything done these days.

No, I have been so tired I can barely get housework done let alone car work. In fact, I'll probably have the dealer do an interior clean of the car when I take it in for maintenance since I'm too tired to do it myself.

I never knew there was a recall since I got nothing in the mail and my dealership been silent

My insight drivers seatbelt started fraying bad to the point of stopping the buckle when putting it on. Dealership said it’s not covered under warranty. Hondas 2006 and prior all get a lifetime warranty on their seatbelts.
Hmm. Call honda of America and confirm this. Also you should check your local state laws and see if safety equipment in a car get extended warranties per state laws. More likely you're going to have to buy a new seat belt. I can't really comment on seatbelt longevity since it's easy to fray a seat belt in your car door if it doesn't pull back fully as many car's seat belts tend to do early in their life.😐
@@verdier4006 I called another Honda dealership in another state and they confirmed mine isn’t under warranty. The parts department quoted me $480 for the seatbelt assembly and said they don’t sell the belt separate. That’s not including the labor to install it. I also read these seatbelts have a 1 time use tensioner that’s activated in a crash so they are likely bad from cars in junk yards.
That would depend on the reasons behind the junking of the car. I would do a parts search through the internet and ebay to see if you can find one from a junked car. Parts have definitely become severely expensive.😒
Good news. Looks like there is a lot of seatbelt repair services online. Get in touch with them and I think you'll be able to get the problem fixed for a reasonable price.👍
@@verdier4006 I cut off the frayed part and burned it with a lighter to slow it from fraying further. Could rip in a crash. I’ll tell my kids to sue Honda for me from the grave lol
