Hello, I have a really very very good instrument, stable, pleasant Precision C neck, versatile, hybrid Precision jazz bass, with flat threads a real treat!! very very good Fender Precision !!!!! very nice finish no default !!!!! one of my favorite bass among my USA Basses!!!!!
Thanks, Guitar Center & Nick, for the demo! Sounds sweeeet! I have the MIM version of this in Sea Foam Pearl (See Item#1365443877006756637 $900). No flaws, neck feels & plays smooth, both pups can blend, well balanced AND stays in tune with the locking tuners!...
I think he's underselling it a bit with "would make a great entry level student bass". lol. Unless you're like the guy from BassTheWorld who uses all these hand made, high end custom F Basses and AV Basses that really don't sound any better than this American Performer, this bass would be perfectly fine for a gigging pro. Anyway, the pickups sound wonderful.
I played a Fender bass a long time ago...then I grew up, and tried other basses that offer more in the tone department. My MAIN issue with Fender basses (I have others as well), is the classic NECK DIVE, which is a pet peeve of mine. The neck should NOT have to be supported by the same hand a player uses to fret the strings with.
Got this exact same bass in that salt lake blue. Got it with elixir niquel strings and sounds like a tank!. Best feature, the neck, that P bass is very fast let me tell ya.
Been thinking of getting one but I really love the feel of the j bass neck. How comparable are the two necks? The p bass neck is too fat for my liking.
Even if you do shield the pickup (e.g. copper-shield the coils), it can only go so far as to reducing the hum. Split coils are much more efficient at that job, but it does bear a compromise in tone, usually scoping it down a bit in the mids. If the pickup is really well made, though, you can barely notice the difference, or even prefer the split coil one. Nordstrand, Aguilar and Bartolini make some great split-coil J pickups, for example, and they sound different from each other - check them out if you haven't already :-)
I’m sorry but I bought one of these and immediately sent it back. Yosemite pickups do not sound like the Fender P Bass pickups. The bass had sharp frets, and did not have the quality of a bass that cost $1249. And it came with a gig bag?? The neck and headstock look like plain wood. TOTALLY disappointed considering it was a Fender American. I got an American Ultra P Bass for about 700 more dollars and Im more than happy. Noiseless pickups (with real Fender P Bass sound). And it came with a molded hard shell case. The bass surpassed my expectations. Beautiful quality. Not only playing it is wonderful but just looking at it. Don’t understand why Fender created the Performer the way they did.
Well, they are very cheap and completely fine. There's nothing wrong with them that wasn't cooked up by people who want to sell you high mass bridges. And I'll tell you this: I've tried replacing the normal bent plate bridge on my P bass twice, first with a Babicz and then with a Hipshot KickAss, and it lost the openness of its sound. The bass had previously had a wonderful airy top end, and for lack of a better word "headroom". You could punch it and it would go there with you. With the bigger bridges it became more compressed and dense, with less of the harmonic hair on the notes that I personally like. So I sent them back and I'm sticking with the cheapo normal bridge. Just my experience!
Hmmm... after over forty years of playing on "terrible bridges," I've never had one malfunction yet. And once intonated, I've never had one go out while playing onstage. I can't say the same for the types of bridges I think you are doing the highbrow thing for. I HAVE had one of those fuck-up on stage during a gig. There is something to say for functional simplicity. Why do you think the upright bass bridge has remained essentially the same for several hundred years? Simplicity. A carved chunk of wood... no engineer required.
I've only been playing for a little over a year so take my opinion for what it's worth. I bought a MIM Pbass and the E and A string kept lowering after just a few hours of hard playing. My friend suggested I put a Kick Ass bridge on and it completely solved the problem. My ear isn't good enough to notice any tonal differences.
@@EmperorYoshiYTP Oh look, another flatwound activist. Go ahead and use your flatwounds. Nobody minds. Just quit trying to tell everyone else what kind of strings are "shite" and which are not. It's 100% subjective and depends on what kind of sound you want out of you bass and what kind of music you are playing. Some of us do not like flatwounds, just like you do not like roundwounds. Funny how people have different opinions, isn't it? It's really too bad everyone cannot be just like you in opinion, isn't it.
Eeeh, it sounds and looks cheap. I would recommend going with something that has a neck through body for better resonance instead of the cheap bolt on necks. Ugg give me a break with that bridge it's like the cheapest piece of Hardware you could use. I would take a Schecter Studio 5 over this bass any day.
1:25 - precision pickup by itself
2:40 - jazz pickup by itself
Not sure if he ever plays both pickups together... Maybe in the intro? Sigh.
Someone *PLEASE* give me that beauty
Hahahahha
Great sound and great playing

How about getting between pickups? Would definitely hear those sounds as well.
Awesome bass I have a jazz bass perk white jazz bass of course a fender jazz bass
Most versatile Electric bass guitar
How come there are no five strings available ?
It works for BASS-ically anything.

around how much do they go for now? and what strings work best?

That's how an electric bass should sound.

Hello Nick...
Just some questions..
Do You Know theese guys have some noise shielding to avoid typical single coil jazz bridge pu noise hum?

Ghs medium flatwounds sound great on these, more ole school bassy sound. Just spreading the word.
Play that seafoam all rosewood neck p bass that's back there
God yes I agree
I bought one, I'll post a video when I get motivated
@@Sean_thompson_bass let me know when. I've only played the jazz version. Can't seem to find the P in the stores
@@thecappy they're in limited supply. I had to order mine. Plays just like an American pro p bass, but with a vintage style 63 neck
@@Sean_thompson_bass does it sound any different? The jazz I played didn't sound like my 2015 jazz but that could be the v-mod pickups.
I loved this! Neck feel is comfort and fits my fingers, also the PJ modes can be used for all around style
Warning, ridiculous bass faces ahead. Viewer discretion advised.
Modal AF
The only thing I am not keen on is having the truss rod screw at the bottom end of the neck.
Could you tell me why that is? All my basses have the truss rod port on the headstock so haven’t had experience with what you’re talking about.
@@julianpischler9378 Its because to make an adjustment you have to sometimes remove the neck.
@@peterb1543 oh shit... yeah not keen on doing that. Thanks for the reply mate.
Can this bass be good for metal music too?
Hell yeah

Wow man you can throw it down!

this or nate mendel signature?
Less talk more play
They fucked it up like everything else they do now. Satin finish is cheap shit. I don't want a jazz pickup on my P Bass. And jumbo frets are useless.
What would you recommend then for an all rounder ? looking for mellow 60s and 70s town, reggae deep and full tones etc for under 500?

sick of it all ..so.... you really know it all.😕
I don't know I end up always going back to A FENDER
Carlos Garcia ... nothing wrong with that!😋✌
Well when your gonna compare a 400 dollar bass to a 6 or 700 dollar bass your gonna get more bang for your buck
You know ALOT of high end basses use bolt on, right? You can also get cheap neck through basses, there's no correlation between price and neck type.
Fender sucks
