I want to tell everyone who went through things just like this, that you're not alone. and please know you're worth more than anything your dad thinks or tells you that you are. I want you to know, everything that happened in the past does NOT have to follow you to the future. Believe me I know, I was abused by my father, and constantly told i was worthless. Please do not ever let words cut into you, you're worth more than anything and Please don't let the past change you and upset you. Everything was put in place for a reason and no one should have to think differently about themselves because of all the things said to them. I can relate to all of you who went through this, because i was left by my real dad, grandmother, and uncle. I am in a better place now, and ever since 8th grade i was bullied severely, so believe me i know. I'm not posting this for sympathy, i am posting this to let everyone know that even though i may not know you personally, i care that things have gone wrong in your life and i'm sure others do to. You can bounce back from any hardship in your life... i am living proof

It all started with them because I got depressed and he told me a month ago "You're just a burden! Why are you even here? Your mother wanted another but you've honestly been the reason for everything that's happened." I struggle with depression because of my parents fighting and I'm always insecure and paranoid that people don't like me and that I have all these flaws. When I got dressed for a school dance I wore leggings under my dress, a jacket over it, and converse. My dad told me I looked like an emo freak and I disappoint him. This song really connects to my life and I cry everytime. My dad's the reason for my cutting and anxieties. When I see kids hugging their dads it makes me frustrated and guilty and I just want to leave everything. I don't understand.
I'm so sorry you have to go through that. No child should ever be made to feel that way. You are not the problem. The problem lies inside your father, and he's trying to make others feel the same way he is. It taken me a lot of years to realize that sometimes, people just don't care about you the way you want them to. But that doesn't mean you are any less worthy than any other human being. You are worth it. I can completely understand why you feel the need to cut, I was in that dark place before, and I still struggle with it. What helped me was a group of supportive people. I can only hope you get the support and love you deserve. Ignore those who bring you down. The only opinion that matters is yours. Find some people that are willing to be there for you.
u dont need to act like ur a guilty person of what happened to them.. instead, for an advice... try to check and fix ur appearance so that ur father see u that ur improving and he will see that ur a beautiful daughter to his eyes.... and lastly dear... just pray to our God, tell Him ur problem and ask for guidance and pray for ur father also... amen...

Holy fucking shit. This describes my life. I lived with my dad for a few years, from like 12-15. I didn't have my mom. He was an alcoholic. He would call me every name... bitch, evil, stupid, worthless, useless, ugly, satan... always told me he hated me. Then eventually he got a girlfriend and left. I stayed with his mom, went into anorexia, had no self esteem and completely let go of my dreams and everything I was. I don't talk to him anymore and everything he put me through still hurts.

You have gone through things hardly anyone can scarcely claim they endured, but you know that you didn't deserve it and he was wrong. I just discovered this song yesterday. It made me cry because some of the people in my life have hurt me. It wasn't ever physical but it was emotional and verbal. My mom and little sister are my anchor. (Aside from God they are the ones who have been there for me.) I have a lot of trauma and I don't know if I will ever really heal. My parents got divorced when I was 13, I'm 17 now, I love the part where it says And now you've grown up with this notion that you were to blame and you seem so strong sometimes but I know that you still feel the same as that little girl who shined like an angel even after his lazy heart put you through hell. Growing up he was my hero & best friend, now he is my villain and enemy. We don't speak. As/ after the divorce he would text me things like " I love you, wish you well, You are the greatest daughter ever etc." Then it could be minutes, weeks, days later he would then turn around and say " I hate you, how could you treat me like this? you are the worst daughter ever etc." Then repeat. I feel like lots of times I was/ am to blame that we don't speak and that he left me. Trying to heal and find forgiveness is hard...

Holy fucking shit. This describes my life.
I lived with my dad for a few years, from like 12-15. I didn't have my mom. He was an alcoholic. He would call me every name... bitch, evil, stupid, worthless, useless, ugly, satan... always told me he hated me. Then eventually he got a girlfriend and left. I stayed with his mom, went into anorexia, had no self esteem and completely let go of my dreams and everything I was. I don't talk to him anymore and everything he put me through still hurts.

You have gone through things hardly anyone can scarcely claim they endured, but you know that you didn't deserve it and he was wrong. But his condoning of whatever you do, doesn't matter you are amazing regardless. A soul pure and beautiful that deserves a family and others to love you unconditionally, someone who will cherish everything about you. I just discovered this song yesterday. It made me cry because some of the people in my life have hurt me. It wasn't ever physical but it was emotional and verbal. My mom and little sister are my anchor. (Aside from God they are the ones who have been there for me.) I have a lot of trauma and I don't know if I will ever really heal. This song keeps saying,"And I promise that it's not your fault. It was never your fault." I cried and let go of all the pain I've kept hidden.

He not only left me but left all of his responsibilities and duties to my mother, who is an absolutely amazing person in and out and took it all on but shouldn't of had too. I however happened to of gained the most amazing person out of it. Luckily my mother remarried and she married the most loving and caring person and I got to gain an amazing father. Who might not be by blood but is everything a father should be. I got extremely lucky and I'm deeply sorry to you all who didn't get that chance to have someone in your life that loved you like a father should.

I absolutely destroyed me when i was told i wasn't able to go to my dad's for Christmas. He lives in Wisconsin and im living with my mom.
