One of the best recap photography / videography videos I've ever seen. I'm just getting my channel started, and it's so inspiring seeing someone like you growing to the heights you've grown to...incredibly well done, man. And congratulations on you opportunities! Insanely inspirational.
You have no idea how satisfying it was to read this. I hope my story can be a small part of your story at some point. if there is anything i can do to help, let me know for real, im only a DM away
@ honestly just putting myself out there. Trying to get over the fear of people not liking my work. Also I’m my biggest critic. Plus working with older equipment sometimes makes me self conscious. But I keep pushing myself to keep going out there and started sharing my work more and more.
I'll be honest. I've watched hundreds of RUclips videos at this point since 2019 as part of my self taught journey. This video fits easily into my top two of all times (for me and my journey). This is relevant, relatable, inspirational and informative. All the best.
I needed to see this! I want to take my photography serious this year. You are an inspiration man. Keep growing and I’m here to watch the journey. Thanks for sharing.
@ haha… all of it to be honest! I just picked up a camera last year after a long long time. I liked photography when I was much younger but it took a back seat to everything else… now I need an outlet from everyday life so I am trying to learn the ins and outs with my a6700. Would love to turn it into a side project between video and portrait photography and see where it goes from there once I gain skills. It’s just nice to see someone push their comfort zone and end up growing like you have. Can I ask what video program you use? Seems like Final Cut and premier are two popular ones. Really glad I found your channel!
@ Thank you for the feedback! ok good to know! i got you! im taking notes here. So the top ones are Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, and Davinci resolve. THere are plenty of good tutorials that talk more about this on youtube but quickly... Davinci Resolve has a free version that is actually great. Premiere is awesome because it has been around for so long so a lot of resources out there, but you are paying monthly for it. Final cut is a one time like 300 bucks. But only for apple uses. SOOOO... yes, i use davinci haha
@@JosephGarcia haha you’re the man - thank you!! If Resolve is good enough for you, I’ll try out the free version first!! I have Lightroom but I hate the subscription model.. so resolve it is. Thanks again. Always nice to pick someone’s brain!

bro, thanks for that. If you dont mind me asking, what were some of the struggles you had when you were starting out? it could help others in our community and i can make a video about it maybe
@JosephGarcia For me, it was mostly about figuring out how to gain experience without having anything to show, getting clients to trust you, and eventually getting lucky. My story is a little different from most. I started in concerts, moved into music videos, and am now transitioning into corporate. When I started, there was not this huge community on RUclips with tutorials, etc.- I literally had to figure it out every time I picked up a camera. I am in a huge community on RUclips, etc.
Man Im a 20yo photographer based in Peru and you dont know how much I relate to your story. Thank you for this video. It really kept my spirit up while struggling with self-doubt, and sense that all I'm doing right now is meaningless. I'm beginner videographer, shooting with fpv and cinematic drones, and just recently bought gh5 mk2 to kinda cover the ground too and man.. I thought I was the only one, who, stressed out, gonna think the recording is on while it's not, or freeze. Thank you man ... I'm also in the process of going all in with photography ... and this video helped me a lot. Also I see that I'm already doing many things you are doing. Thanks again
Great video, man! I'm just starting my photography journey, but I did the same thing you did in this video, just in music! Keep up the good work, support for the channel!
Dude i mess around with music too so this hits hard. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative whether its music or anything else
@ As a bassist with over a thousand concerts behind me on a professional and top-level stage, one of the hardest things is actually ‘breaking out of the box.’ The box is essentially your safe move, your comfort zone. It’s the easiest place to be-you blend in with the crowd, and you know it works in terms of doing a ‘good job.’ But when you find a way, gather the courage, and take the leap to do something different, and it works, and people accept it… it’s a completely different dimension. It’s almost impossible to put into words how that feels!
I have a thing I call INSIDE ENERGY see most people hang around the perimeter with the low energy crowd but when you carry yourself like you belong there everyone just assumes you belong there. You have that, My whole life I just walked right into anything like I owned the place and it always works. Concerts golf tournaments car shows whatever. Some people just don’t have the assertiveness but if they just find it and go with it, it will change their whole reality
Yoo! Big FACTS right here. If people only knew that their idols also have a whole bunch of nerves and stuff too, but they just block it out and cook anyway!
This was definitely the best photography/videography video i watched in a long time! Your Storytelling was nuts and the video felt like it was 3 minutes long... More of that!
thanks bro! I love your photos man, keep it up, if there is anythign that you feel others should know, like struggles that you had before, and how you overcame them, let me know
Thank you for this. I've been shooting almost every day for nearly 3 years now for myself, building up a portfolio of work and getting practice for all sorts of situations, subjects and styles. Focus being portraiture. Cars, people, animals/pets and such. Everyone around me says I need to start putting myself out there and doing paid professional work. Finally getting past the fear and the impostor syndrome of going out on my own and making this into an actual business. It is daunting to be sure but I think its mainly me being in my head overthinking too much rather than my actual skills and abilities lacking. Going to use 2025 to make this stuff happen for real!
BROOO YOU BETTER GO FREAKING COOK! Lets freaking go! If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative? How can i help if anything
@ no ofc! Love to be part of the community! Biggest struggles as a creative? I would say believing in yourself and maintaining that vision that it will work as you as long you keep working on your craft and keep learning on every project. That and paying taxes 🫡🤓
Thank you for this video. It's something that I needed to hear. For my 2 best friends, they did not have anyone shoot their engagement photos or for their wedding, so they asked if I could capture their special moments. I was feeling that "I am not good enough right now" and was ready to tell them no and to find someone else. I then reminded myself of the opportunity that God/Universe had presented me to continue practicing my craft, get better, get out my comfort zone of street photography, and continue to do what I enjoy; capturing moments. It was nerve wrecking at the beginning and at the end, I had a lot of fun. Thank you for the video, again. Subscribed!
Yo that is such a sick story! I am sure the photos came out awesome too! Aside from just the confidence that you have gotten, If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative?
As a "pro" I would make one big recommendation. Prep your gear the night before or when you put it away. Doesn't matter what level of photographer you are, this will be a lifesaver. If you can grab your bag or your camera without your bag knowing your batteries are charged, the cards are empty, and the lens is attached, it'll save you so much pain and misery.
Great story and advice bro! I often find myself battling imposter syndrome so it's always good to get some encouragement from people you know! Éxito siempre!
I started doing this 2 months ago yesterday I was in a room full of D1 athletes, shedeur sanders and many more. And like you said I walked on the field like I owned it , 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
How sick is that! Bro i actually shot shedeur sanders and his team when he was in high school. I was helping a friend of mine that hired me to do a recap type of thing for his channel about footaball and stuff. small world lol
Thank you for the video I been doing photography for a month and I been promoting my instagram so people can see my work also doing free shots to get better with camera..this video made me want to become a better photographer I had to subscribe..! THANK YOU AGAIN 🙏🏾
Bro, absolutely wow I really needed this. I have been struggling in my business lately and have been asking God what’s next and it’s like this video formed everything that I was feeling thanks man give me the courage to keep going. 💪🏽
Bro, I'm so happy to hear it! Let's get it man, you got this! Trust me when I say, if i can do it, you can definitely do it. Im currently praying for you and some guidance fam.
@ wow bro thanks so much. I don’t know of any other creators that would stop to pray for one of their subscribers 🙏🏽🙏🏽 you’re a real one!!!! God bless you man.
This is probably the best video for photography I have ever seen. Any advice on getting out into the world/convincing my parents to let me get an instagram?
Thank you! I think it definitely depends on their reasoning thats for sure, but i think business is business and that could be an angle haha, but respect your parents lol
@8:15 Why didnt you use Auto white balance? and does it mean everytime i go to an event i have to play with my White balance. And nice video and very informative
Great question. So auto white balance is constantly changing, so it would be a nightmare when you go edit because you cant copy and paste settings as a startign point (at least the ones in the same location). Having it set at least in a general range would be better than auto wqhite balance, i could make a whole video on this. Ill make a note of this. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative?
This is at a professional level. An amateur don't even have that amount of gear or skillset. What I'm curious about is what its the pay like for something like this. Anything under 1k would be a hell no.
I believe that is a point of the video too. I have seen so many people that are actually better than some 'pros' out there. Unfortunately, due to contract stuff, I cant say, but i can tell you right now, that it was not under 1k, that would be insane haha
I just got my first business client..I usually shoot weddings and some lifestyle stuff..but this I’m so nervous I’ve been back and forth telling them idk if I can do it..but like..I can..😭I just want to tell them I can’t because it’s a big deal to me and I don’t want to mess it up and want to do good. This video definitely helped me. Thank you.
Ahhh! Ok so i know how this feels because my first commercial business client. ugh i was nervous, but when you call on your skills from before you got it! I believe in you! do it!!!
@11:02 preach it 📣 my theory is the folks that say 'gear doesn't matter' are just trying to allocate your budget away from new glass, and point it towards their masterclass. btw, baller vid 👏👏
hahah oh man never thought of it that way! that is funny lol. But yeah seriously... I don’t know about people buying every shiny new thing but you definitely need a solid starting point
"Fake it untill you make it" is the most important part of photography. In summer when I was 17 yo, with sony a6000, sigma 16mm and 28-70. I had press pass on one festival, NOT ON MAINSTAGE but I had like 1000 photos of David Guetta🤣🤣
That tip about making your craft known to people, 10000000% ture I was PAID to shoot at my cousins WEDDING last year because my uncle knew I was a photographer I was paid to make multiple artworks for my moms co-workers, and they still are asking for more artwork now! And of course, make sure to actually show people what you do too, so they know you're capable.
THIS RIGHT HERE. Just tell them that you have shown up is all they need to know. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have or have had as a creative?
@@JosephGarcia honestly, mostly doubting my abilites, and when I did the wedding it was just getting good angles since I hadnt done anything like that before. I just recently got an actual camera so I guess now its gonna be learning on that after only shooting on my phone for pretty much everything.
Very inspiring video for many. My thoughts are exactly what everyone is commenting on so I won’t repeat the same words. I just need to stop saying no to opportunities I’m offered and just go for it. Just to let you know, I shitted bricks when you said you found out that you weren’t recording when you thought you were because I’ve been there many times. It happens, you look down at your camera and wonder why is this red light on and go back to review your last few frames and you got nothing but the ground and rustling noises… dammit! Thanks for the video!
Great job man I’m just starting on my photography journey mainly shooting my kids sports and posting on instagram . Just had a few parents ask me hey how much do u charge and I’m like I can’t charge lol thinking I barely know what the hell im doing 😂

Cheeeee! whats up bro thank you. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative?
This is such good advice and what a great vid showing the little things that don’t always go our way but how to make it work anyway. Definitely subscribing
Good looking out! i feel those little things are the things that make the difference between someone who can follow a tutorial and those who need to adapt
Bro I’ve been saying this same exact thing, and to hear it from someone who is PROOF is so crazy. The timing is insane. Such a great video you’re a beast 🙏🏽
I hope my story can help someone at least a little bit man~! I appreciate you. Quick question If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative?
Hey man, I think this is one of your best videos. I was really drawn in and like oh shit when you didn't have the lens on. Nice work man!
this is awesome! I have to agree with you. it is one of my favorites! dude, i looked way too chill in the video becaus eon the inside i had a mini heart attack
Wow. Normally I would've continued on at some point or stay tuned out while working in the studio and having stuff on the background. Before I knew it, I had stopped everything and realized I watched this whole thing. Masterful job! Grace and Peace bro!
Dang bro, thank you so much for the feedback, this is humbling to read in a world of so much content. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative?
this has to be one of the best videos I've ever watched on photography. thank you
Yoo, i appreciate this. truly humbled. If there is anything I can help in your creative journey, let me know man
bro... this is God talking to my heart right now... Thank you, I am just starting my own photo business and this is what I needed to hear... verdaderamente un salto de fe🙏🏼
Spirit recognizes spirit man. You identified what others were feeling. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative? En lo que puedo ayudar, me avisas
@JosephGarcia the main struggle is knowing I'm kinda good but not fully believing it... I guess it's a process, like everything in life.
This was fantastic!
thanks bro! I saw you over there doing paintball. I suck at it but its funnnn hahah
Amazing video and message. I decided last month that I was going to give photography way more focus than I ever did in the last 16 years combined while also starting my journey on YT. Thank you for sharing your story!
Love this bro! Thank you for the feedback. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative?
I usually don’t watch these videos but holy crap you were spittin this whole video. Great video. I’ve been doing to the consume to steal for a while and didn’t know how to say it. You said it perfectly
Brooo I feel you on that! Lol...because I am the same way haha, if you find anything worth stealing let me know 😏
Bro i seen very few videos these days that inspire me and this inspires me to do more and grow as a photographer
Let's GOOO! Let me know if there is a way i can help man, whatever i know im willing to share, so you tell me

Josephhhhhh!!! Omg I’m not even a minute in and I love this!!
This is insanely amazing and inspiring. Seriously always love your work 🙌🏽
Ahh thank you 🙈
Thank you man ... I'm also in the process of going all in with photography ... and this video helped me a lot. Also I see that I'm already doing many things you are doing. Thanks again
Glad this helped! What are you focusing on? Like shooting wise? any retainer clients?
Very inspiring and best of luck in your creative journey
thank you so much. likkewise
It’s the easiest place to be-you blend in with the crowd, and you know it works in terms of doing a ‘good job.’
But when you find a way, gather the courage, and take the leap to do something different, and it works, and people accept it… it’s a completely different dimension. It’s almost impossible to put into words how that feels!
Ohh sick man! I wish i could play bass well. you can bully the entire band haha. ahhh so finding that balance, i understand!
Love this !! And amazing advice !! 📸
My boy trey! Thanks brother, hopefully it helps a little bit
I like this guy! keep it up mate!
Thanks brother, appreciate the love! My mom tells me the same thing 🙂
Wow, thanks! that is dope! I got you!
Love the grind man! Keep up the good work.
🔥 absolute 🔥 thanks for the motivation and more drive to keep this going for me! 👏 🙌
Yo bryan! thanks dude, i believe in you
You snapped !!
Eyyy you see me 🙈
Great info! Thanks for the inspiration!
I GOT YOU!
So amazing bro!!! Really hit them feels with this one!! Thank you 🫡
thanks man! I appreciate that! Quuick questionnnn, If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative?
@ no ofc! Love to be part of the community! Biggest struggles as a creative? I would say believing in yourself and maintaining that vision that it will work as you as long you keep working on your craft and keep learning on every project. That and paying taxes 🫡🤓
Bro the effort you put into this video is 🔥Definitely subscribed!
EYYY thanks for the sub! humbled!
I needed to hear this. Thanks for sharing bro
Bro, of course. thanks for watching, i hope it helped at least a little bit
Holy! What an amazing video! Dreaming of getting where you’re at brother!
Ey! Trust me. If I can do it, im sure you can too
This is genuinely a beautiful video. Love the ending 🫶🏼
🥺 thank you so much!
@ thank you. 🙏
Thank you for this video! You have no idea who needed to hear this!
EYY! Lets go, I hope i can help in some way
Awesome video! Super inspiring! Keep dropping us this content
I got you man. You already know! anything you would like to see more of, specifically?
Yo good call! I dont know how people do it on the fly, i woudl arrive late everytime if i didnt do it earlier haha
Great story and advice bro! I often find myself battling imposter syndrome so it's always good to get some encouragement from people you know! Éxito siempre!
gracias bro muy amable! aqui estamos para apoyar
I dont usually comment om videos, but wow... This is definitely the best video about photography Ive ever seen. Well done my man👍
I started doing this 2 months ago yesterday I was in a room full of D1 athletes, shedeur sanders and many more.
@ are you in dfw? I'll be at the shrine bowl tomorrow at ATT stadium. If I would've seen this yesterday I would've invited you to the practice
As a growing photographer, I can say this video perfectly describes the anxiety of working a shoot. Embrace the chaos!
MAnnnnn, if people only knew that even hollywood directors and teams have the same issues hahaha
Awesome video man. Thank you!
Appreciate it man! Glad it helped!
I am just trying to do my little part in the Kingdom man. i am humbled to hear that. Stay in touch man. sending blessings your way rn
@@JosephGarcia 🙏🏽🙏🏽 will definitely stay in touch man much thanks
Haha great story Joseph, learned something new and laughed! Good way to start my day!
eyyy lets go! double whammy
this video is so motivating. Thanks for this
You're so welcome! i hope it helped a little bit
Love the video great take away points!
This is probably the best video for photography I have ever seen. Any advice on getting out into the world/convincing my parents to let me get an instagram?
Thank you! I think it definitely depends on their reasoning thats for sure, but i think business is business and that could be an angle haha, but respect your parents lol
Yes This is good photographer/videographer advice, but this is just good advice on work ethic period. Great stuff.
Such a good video and solid advice, just subscribed
Thanks bro! Let me know if i can help in any way
Wooooow! I love this video! Thanks for sharing bro!
You're welcome! Keep grinding, my friend.
damn, one of the most inspiring videos i have ever seen!!!
Dang, that is a loaded comment. I am humbled!
you hard! believe it or not you're the youtuber a watch from start to finish
Yoo how sick is this to read! i appreciate you man!
I really needed to see this!
I am glad you saw it too!
This is amazing man 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤝🏼🔥
yoo thanks bro!
I believe in you! do it!!!
This is my first video I’ve ever seen from you… where have you been all my life? 😂
hahah i love this. I have been here, trying to perfect my craft, glad i finally showed up on your doorstep hha
Thank u for this, it was necessary 🙏🏾
YES! I am glad!
Love this for you!
🙏🏼
thank you
@11:02 preach it 📣 my theory is the folks that say 'gear doesn't matter' are just trying to allocate your budget away from new glass, and point it towards their masterclass.
btw, baller vid 👏👏
hahah oh man never thought of it that way! that is funny lol. But yeah seriously... I don’t know about people buying every shiny new thing but you definitely need a solid starting point
Phenomonal video and I feel a lot of the same ways
16:32 this deserves a sub!!
Great video Joseph, thank you!
Good looking out man!
Same rule applies to almost every aspect of life in general …….great video !!
I am glad you can see beyond the 'photography' titling 🙏🏼
"Fake it untill you make it" is the most important part of photography. In summer when I was 17 yo, with sony a6000, sigma 16mm and 28-70. I had press pass on one festival, NOT ON MAINSTAGE but I had like 1000 photos of David Guetta🤣🤣
EYYY when people scroll through your portfolio, they arent goign to know you werent on the mainstage haha. that is dope
GREAT VIDEO MY FRIEND!! THANK YOU!
You already know 💯! I hope it helped you out.
That tip about making your craft known to people, 10000000% ture
I was PAID to shoot at my cousins WEDDING last year because my uncle knew I was a photographer
I was paid to make multiple artworks for my moms co-workers, and they still are asking for more artwork now!
"I'm talking about for next year." YES!
My heart felt so much peace.. lol
Just had a few parents ask me hey how much do u charge and I’m like I can’t charge lol thinking I barely know what the hell im doing 😂
hahah i loved reading this for real. If you dont mind me asking, what are some of the struggles you have as a creative, is it just confidence or what else.
