This looks like a great Idle rpg. Really like these sorts of games on your channel because you can focus on chatting or explaining your thoughts with us while the game plays itself.
Ahhh SplatterCat, this reminds me of games I used to play, games I loved, there is something missing from todays games that these kind have, it is like the better the technology, the less engaging games can become - .... and when you said " Apple II e " ... you made me happy :)
To answer your question on "artsy, not lazy," it has the aesthetic quality of minimalism, combined with retro style. Even back in the heyday of ASCII, it existed as a statement against bad art promulgating in games at the time (look at pretty much any "graphical" game from before the 90s), which is kind of ironic because making good ASCII art is actually more complex than just making regular art. You have to capture depth, shape, intensity, and all those other intrinsic qualities using just the limited scope of the characters available on your keyboard. It's comparable to recreating Van Gogh's Starry Night using just whatever misshapen and discolored lumps of macaroni you can find in the box - sure, "macaroni art" is kid's stuff, but the complexity involved in making a recognizable duplicate definitively puts it in the category of real art, and even more challenging than just picking up a brush and painting a copy would be.
Funny, I was over a friends house and he was watching one of your vids. At the end he hit dislike. I asked him why he just disliked your vid and he said he likes your vids but he didn't like the game so he disliked it. I told him that's not how dislikes work lol.
If it makes you feel better as far as I can tell the only thing that matters as far as metrics go is watch time on youtube. Views / Likes / Dislikes don't seem to factor into how they promote a channel at all.
Broke my vow to never buy anything in early access to get this after watching Splatty play. The game continues to engage, amazingly complex crafting system.
Yeah - and it is hard to get interested/invested this way. I know no matter how good or bad, there will just be a different game next time (and with the holiday integration, I knew this was made weeks ago). I think when he did do longer series he was more choosy about the new games he showed, because he had less time, so he was more in to them, and it came through. It was really fun to watch whatever he did. It seems very assembly line/stale now.
I went through all of your playlists and I didn't see anything for the indie game Age of Decadence. If you haven't played that game, you're SERIOUSLY missing out. It's easily one of the best indie games ever made. Apologies for the rant if you have played it already :D
Seeing and understanding the number 4 as the number 4 is less basic mathematics and more Visual Associative Recognition... You being of the American Culture were raised from a young age to associate the visual "4" and the audible "four" to the concept of "I I I I" number of items... Imagine being from a culture that represented it as a § and called it coudlepuff... Would they be less mathematical bc they don't call it four? Mathematics is taking the concept of said representation and increasing or decreasing said representation by whatever different factorial representation is chosen...
The devs really deserve the props, kudos and your other O's for what they have done.
I'm surprised but I liked it. It was serene and simple. I would like to see more.
I love how Splat started rambling about how he rambles
I like it that every time you finish a zone you discover something new in it
Definitely worthy of a part 2
OOF, i feel like splat is gonna blue ball everyone by not releasing a second episode.

You should see a Doctor .. eyecancer is bad news.... but ASCII is the SH!T - it's part of why this game is so damn good.
