Really makes me think about how the album would’ve turned out if the rev didn’t go so soon. He seemed so fired up and that he really had an overarching idea. But was snuffed out before it could be fully realized. FoREVer
Yeah they wanted to do a straight up concept album. Like nightmare was gonna start it with someone trapped in a dream and then it would go to the places it went and with jimmy’s death, they ditched those to go for a sendoff to him.
It would've turned out probably VERY close to the version we got. Which is amazing.
@@jeremiahnations8808 true. Wouldn’t have “So Far Away”, and the lyrics and themes wouldn’t have been about mourning the death of someone. I know fiction (Death), was about death, but the rest of the record was originally a concept album.

People asking for lyrics, demos are often recorded without a full set of lyrics, or many repeated lines throughout just to get concept of the vowels he would like to sing and how the melody might sound before the actual lyrics get fully written. They clearly had an idea of what they were going for with the ‘victim of a crime’ moniker which stuck into the final song, but if you’re looking for meaning behind these lyrics, you won’t find them because it’s mostly nonsense.

The album lyrics are some of the most haunting I have ever heard. The delivery alone is a very raw emotional experience. Its a tragedy the the Rev died so young. But damn what an artist masterpiece that came from that tragedy.
I love the vocal scats. Its crazy how they managed to pop real lyrics into these demo melodies without changing much
Second solo really still hits the somber tone while showcasing the disarray Brians mind was in despite maintaining composure so the show goes on.
It's awesome to be hearing this in 2024! foREVer.

The lyrics are better in the original, but Matt’s raw recorded voice here is awesome
They use random filler and noises patched with key lyrics to get a "feel" for the song during the process. That's why it sounds so strange lmao

Whatever it was, it isn’t very good by today’s standards. You can really hear how primitive the technology was just 15 years ago with the ride cymbal here.

This is still original demo, not the remastered.
Maybe, i think can released the special re-issued deluxe or special deluxe remastered edition in 2nd decade or 3rd decade by wmg.

@@azmodayus3712 dont bullshit dude. Portnoy never once tried to force his way into the band, and made sure to play The Revs parts with only a touch of portnoys own style. He had zero plans to stay in the band after this album, only to help record, tour, and move onto different projects
