I always loved how all of the song takes place in the first minute lyrically and just jams the rest of the way.
YOU SLEPT INSIDE A JEWEL LIKE ROSE WHILE I HATED LIFE AND HOW IT JUST GOES ON......
This woman is amazing. The Robert Fripp of her era and completely underrated
The Robert Fripp comparison is interesting because they both definitely brought classical music approaches to rock.
Cool comment. They both were (and are) very underrated IMO
You can't be serious. She's about as good on guitar as that chic from white strypes is on drums. It's like daycare music
@@UncleRidgley What a moron you are
I took interest in her music because of the songs she did with Team Sleep. I found her voice mesmerizing in those songs…especially in the song “Tomb of Ligeia”.
The Golden Dove is one of my favorite albums in the entire world, yet this is the first time I'm ever seeing a music video from it! I AM SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW! (sorry, I'll calm myself).
I know this comment is a year old but dude, SAME.
This is incredible. I am so bummed I am just learning about Mary Timony, but I am so excited I have!
Watching this made me pull out the Golden Dove and give it a listen. I hadn't heard it in at least 10 years! Mary's solo records are super underrated.
It came out before I was born so I didn’t get to listen to it back then, lol, but I discovered the album a few months ago and it’s incredible. This music video especially gives me such a curious nostalgic feeling... I don’t know how she does it!
@@lynxaway This is fun to read since I saw her live for both Helium, Mountains and The Golden Dove tours. I'm glad music can appeal to any generation.
This video gets cooler each year that I watch it.
It's so wild we never got one music video from Mountains but at least we have this... this early 2000s era was severely underrated.
Hermoso 😍
I love the 1990's vibe Brett Vapneck gives his videos. I hope to hear more from Mary Timony soon!
Brett Vapnek is actually a woman. I love her videos, too, especially the ones she directed for Helium and for Mary. She hasn't been involved in video direction since the early 2000s though. This video was made in 2002. FYI she also directed a short film that Mary stars in and wrote the music for called "Dream Machine." It's free to watch on Vimeo. It's about 12 minutes long. It's really cute and beautifully shot.
ABSOLUTELY underrated!!!! ✨💕
Brilliant artist.
Can't explain how excited I am about this video being rereleased in a higher definition!
Love it
GOD I LOVE IT
I love this song
You,you,you!
Didn't this come out a long time ago? I think I remember seeing this a while back
Yeah, it's been out for at least 14 years I think. I'm sure I heard it before I moved.
This video was made in 2002, so it's 18 years old, amazingly. The song is off her 2002 solo album "The Golden Dove." It's magical.
@@emmadelovely426 thank you. Glad someone still checks out this video in 2020
This is a great song for the Suspiria remake
she hasn't changed a bit since Beavis & Butt showed the Helium video.
So what’re you talking about
So weird its cool
Mary for White House Press Secretary
Does this mean no more Ex Hex? :(
I know this is a 4 month old comment but what the hell. This song is off the 2002 album The Golden Dove. I don't think Ex Hex have broken up. :)
Hallzach I know this is a year old comment but they just released their second LP on March 22.
Amanda Pálmer vibes

Sad riff is weak and repetitive :(
Are you familiar with Mary"s solo music or with her band Helium? If you are, you will know that she utilizes drones and other interesting and actually quite complicated features of contemporary classic music in a lot of her work. Mary is a classically trained musician and because of that, she really understands various musical forms and elements of composition. She can write a catchy pop melody as good as anyone, but she can also take music narrowly labelled as "indie rock" and elevate it to the level of true art. I see her as a magical realist because her music can be so honest and pure, dealing with universal themes such love, loss, and loneliness in a unique and raw way, yet at the same time, it transports you to another time and place, full of dragons, unicorns, and tigers in lush forests, riding on the back of a bumble bee or dragonfly through the night sky. Repetitive riffs and drones give her music an intoxicating, hypnotic feel. And the alternate tunings she uses gives all of her riffs and melodies a haunting feel. She is one of my very favorite musicians of all time.
I think it’s boring.
