All machines have their problems at some point and anything can fail with an abusive operator who doesn't look after their machine. John Deere is pretty good stuff and so is Case and Cat but, I have seen them all break down at one time or another. You have to get to know your machinery and what to keep an eye on, and the preventative maintenance must be done. Everyone has their likes and dislikes with anything, but I guess its all in what someone is used to and what works for their particular situation. I think your 350 will serve you well for what you will probably be doing with it, and you saved a ton of money buying an older machine that needed some repairs. You are among the few Conner that are willing to put in the work and time to make the repairs to these machines to make them useful again. Most will just go out and buy new stuff and then complain they are broke. You and Franko are some good ole' boys right after my own heart, so don't ever let anyone discourage what you fellas do!
In the thumbnail, on the right side of the image, next to where your left foot would go, there is a curved small lever that sets between the two steering clutch levers. What is that thing for? I think it controls something to do with the transmission, but can’t figure it out.
My 350 B loader with backhoe is down because of this issue. Shaft gone. Be careful with backhoes as well they are too big and cause lots of case issues. I got my work cut out !!
My Dad was in the landscaping business for years, he owned several John Deere 350's, the B model is the worst one for the bolts to get loose, you have to keep a watch on them, I have a 450B dozer, it does the same thing, I don't know what the difference is but the B's are the worst for those particular bolts.
I bought one o er a year ago. I knew it needed steering clutches but the reverser was all screwed up. Long story short.. i had everything but the engine apart. Piss poor design for a reverser. Even after i rebuilt it. If i had the money i would go get me a IH TD 7.
Hi, I have a JD 350-B loader. I don't know why when I drive, it doesn't move very well, sometimes move but some just won't move anymore, do you have any idea why?
I have a J D root rake that fits the 350 and 450 It pins on the machine just like the blade If you are interested in it let me know and I will donate it to your channel Thanks for the videos
You might have totally saved me dude. I had seen this very thing a week ago, but hadn't circled back. But then I saw your video. My reverser works, but that top nut and bolt turned easy, as I pulled out about 4" of the stud :( If half is broke off in there, but...I haven't ruined my splines yet I don't think. How should one go about attacking that challenge?
we have a 350C, new head gasket and injectors after it died last fall- was spewing tons of smoke and lost power. Now it fires right up but can't put it under load or it wants to die. Anything you can recommend to look at? Sounds like a fuel delivery problem.
guess yours were fine? Im a case fan mainly because thats what I started on. Easy to work on and Parts are fairly priced most of the time. Not really opposed to any brand but Cat operators have got to be the most arrogant I've come across and that kind of puts me off towards CAT
There's a Case 350 down the road that i'm eyeing... if only the owner would sell it! I like how the Case machines don't have clutches, just 2 brake bands. My bolts were a little loose, but nothing that would have caused damage i don't think.
I really like my 450C dozer. It has wet steering clutches.

Good points! I am happy with my machines, everything has it's weak points in the design. You just need to be aware of them and work around it!
You need to steam clean your tractor quickly soon

Pto lever.
@@themadmailler Thanks
Working on one of these in the shop today and I noticed on bottom bolt missing and I backed the other out by hand. Haven’t checked the top nuts yet.
My studs ar broke. So im about to have fun. Ugh
Sorry to hear that! Good luck!

Strange! thanks for the comment.

How do you check the RPM's after relacing the throttle cable ?
Just looked at mine and one bolt was missing and I guess that's why it is making a grinding noise and wont go nowhere
Case stands for. Can’t afford something else.
Then what does John deere stand for?

how's the fluid level in the reverser? if good, is the reverser filter clogged?

That's awesome! Please email me at themadmaillerATyahooDOTcom or give me your email address to discuss. Thanks a lot!
Very generous! These videos are a nice reference.
I'm guessing that's the matter with your loader... all repairable

tighten the other three! my 350 has one broken stud. if you want to fix it, you need to pull the motor and reverser out.
@@themadmailler what if I reverse tapped it, and ran a bolt?
@@addamsonflint i think to get a drill in there, you'd need to disassemble anyway!

I agree. Check for clogged filters or lines. Also might be an injection pump problem, but probably not.

@@themadmailler thanks for reply, filters are new so will check the lines.
@@rummysworld7531 the lift pump may also be weak or bad.
@@themadmailler changed the air filter, vent line was limited and repaired that runs good now.

Id like a shuttle
The shuttle shift sure is nice! definitely beats clutching and reversing, and you have multiple reverse speeds.
Would you be interested in another 350 dozer
Where are you located?
