FACT CHECKED SOMETHING IN THE VIDEO: XO Tour Life was actually mixed by Leslie Brathwaite. You can watch the mix breakdown here: ruclips.net/video/WH1qkRyOyTY/видео.html HOWEVER, in the video you see the beat stems sent over to Leslie and for the most part it was mixed very minimally! Mainly levels and a few plug ins (and of course processing on UZI's Vox) Sorry for not fully researching that (:
I gave up mixing my own songs.. I wasted months to learn it to get an average result. Also you invest too much time, i must focus on writing and recording the songs and cutting my videos.
Great video! Currently mix my own music. It’s just easier and more affordable for me to do it myself right now lol but eventually I may want to outsource.
At the same time, it's hard to find an audio engineer/producer who actually takes their time to mix your tracks little alone get them to mix it the next following days after you ask for revisions..
I’ve been mixing my own music from the beginning of my career as a solo artist, and I have to admit, it’s been a five-year long journey until now that I’m finally able to say that I’m (kind of) good at mixing, at a cost of countless sleepless nights going on Gearspace, watching thousands of mixing tutorials, gear comparison videos etc……and of course thousands of dollars spent buying and selling gears over and over again😢it makes me wonder if I’m wasting time spending months trying to get a perfect mix for a song, while a professional Mix engineer would’ve nailed it in few hours, with a much better result. but in the end, I think it’s all worth it, because with the music I make and the musicians I look up to (tame impala, unknown mortal orchestra, Bibio), I believe that mixing is also a part of my craft and my sound as a musician, just like songwriting and playing. Yes, I could’ve hand it over to a pro mix engineer, just like bob dylan could hire a poet to write lyrics for one of his song, but in this case, can you still call it a Bob Dylan Song?
feel this a lot. Especially since I pretty much have the same backstory. I think for each artist, its how they'd want to translate their work to the world. Some feel like the best translation is done by themselves, some feel the best translation is done through collaborative work with others!

Mixing at a high level is not an easy task
DEF not easy

that’s how a LOT of people feel. Sometimes the hours of work isn’t worth it to some people and it’s HELLA valid

i feel a lot of people think the same!! They wait for a point where hiring an engineer is both a part of the process AND in budget!

Good job editing this video. I'm taking notes.
story telling bro!!
@@BABYBOYBLUE Do you write it before you record or just go off the cuff?
