I have the Squier Classic Vibe 60s telecaster, and I upgraded the pickups. I am 100% confident that no one, absolutely no one would be able to tell the difference between my Squier and a Fender that's twice the price. Plays like a dream, feels amazing and it doesnt sound or look cheap at all. Best guitar I own
if they had a squier classic vibe tele at the shop i would have probably picked that up. lowkey wanted to trade my fender for a better tele, even if it was a squier
I don't know if it just was the specific guitar I bought but I had a CV 60s strat in Fiesta Red (Andertons exclusive) and I was massively disappointed with everything about it. Had a 50s CV strat and tele previously and both were amazing
I have two Squire Telecasters , one Mexican Fender Tele, one Squire 40th anniversary and one American Fender strat. I love them all. I like all my Squires alot.
Bought my first chinese Squier CV 50s Strat a couple of years ago. Still in love with it, fantastic guitar. The single ply pickguard is historically correct; no complaints about that. Even the electronic parts seem to be solid and durable which is not the case on two CV Strats I bought later. Be prepared to swap pots and the pu switch; but even with that investment it´s a pretty good deal.
Man, I recently bought a squier Strat 40th anniversary. The previous owner made a few changes, he has upgraded the pickups and actually made something I wouldn't do, but I'm honestly loving: he has put a Seymour Duncan single coil/Humbucker on the bridge with a push/pull. Man I've tried different strats, but nothing like this one.
Squier classic vibe series is the point for that a guitar just started to have the quality and sound fender has. Never got disappointed of it, both for home use and everyday gig. Just really wish epiohone did the same since the "inspired by gibson" series while super incredible for the price, has very limited numbers built
Open it up, jumper a wire from the bridge PU to the middle Tone control pot.. then you can dial out the "ice pick" sound. ... can be done so the pot does BOTH bridge and mid PU.. or just bridge.. and middle has no tone control... your choice. ( when I did it, I let it do both)
I bought an original Chinese Classic Vibe 50s Strat 14 years ago, and it’s a fantastic guitar. I told myself I would only sell or trade it if I found another Strat I liked better. After playing just about every model in Fender’s entire range, I still have and love the Classic Vibe!
Having a hard time learning the singing to the song, but its definetly worth it!! Also pretty sad i dont live in the UK, i would for sure have bought tickets for one of the shows! :/
I just picked up a Fender Squire Affinity Strat HSS Limited Edition in Icy Metallic Blue today from my local guitar store and got it on sale too for only $250.00 and let me tell you something bro, I am impressed, especially for a guitar that is under $300.00. I have been a Les Paul fanboy my whole life and figured I would give the strat a try since I too was looking for that sound and two of my favorite guitarists aside from Jimmy Page used them(Hendrix and Gilmore). Knowing that strats can be a bit on the bright and light sounding side with three pick ups, I went with the HSS version instead that comes with two pickups and one humbucker so it sounds great with different genres of music, especially rock that is a bit more on the chuggy side. I hate to say it honestly but I may never go back to a Les Paul again. I am looking at getting an actual Fender Strat in Candy Apple Red in about a year or two if I can find one that is good once I get my skills up a bit more. At that point I am getting either a Sig or Player series. Needless to say, I highly recommend these strats to anyone, even if you are a pro. Just do not get anything lower than the Affinity series as the Sonic can be a bit fucky on the fretboard. You simply cannot go wrong with either the Affinity series or Classic Vibes. They are just so fun to play and for the price and what you get, you seriously cannot beat it even if you do not like strats. I even choose the strat over some nice Ibanez just because of how well put together these guitars are and with how well they sound. Honestly impressed. I am going to switch out the stock strings for now with either Turbo Slinky's or Super Slicky's by Ernie Ball. Best strings you can buy. 9/10 only since it doesn't come with Ernie Ball's from factory.
I bought the 50s Classic Vibe Strat a while back to modify. I replaced the bridge with a VegaTrem and the tuners with Gotoh Vintage Staggered set and removed the string tree. The tuning stability is great even with dive bombs and upward movement. The other reason I got it is the Fiesta Red and the fact it weighs only 6.5 pounds. I had a Player Strat a couple of years ago but I didn’t bond with it. Nothing wrong with it but I moved on and sold it. The pickups on the Squire are good so I’ll wait before deciding to swap them and the pots out.
Squier has been doing well the last few years, especially with the classic vibes. Never been a better time to be in the market for affordable guitars, although the definition of affordable has changed slightly.
About the pickguard. The thinner one is a 50's spec. Fender started to use more plies later. 50's style Fender would also have a thin pickguard like that!😊
You could always change the bridge pickup to a Seymour Duncan Twang Banger which is a strat pickup that sounds like tele or a Dimarzio Sds-1 which sound like a p90. Btw the video was pretty entertaining & thats a sweet looking strat
Have owned very nice Fender Strats and copies, including a early 90s Clapton signature USA model and a late 1970s Japanese Tokai. The Classic Vibe series, especially the early ones built around 2009-2012 are incredible. I have a 2009, 60's Classic Vibe that has a real Rosewood fretboard and Alder body. I did swap out the pickups and other electronics, but it ships with Alnico V pickups that are very nice... The reason they don't get respect is because they are built by foreign factories not owned by Fender. Fender provides the spec sheet. I think Cort in Indonesia is the current builder of the Classic Vibe line..... The ones coming out of Mexico are coming from a Fender owned and operated factory, so it is different, but who's to say Fender in Mexico is building a better guitar than Cort in Indonesia?
very interesting! i’m sure people have their reservations for whatever reason regarding where it’s built. But imo, doesn’t matter where it’s built, if it’s good, it’s good! thanks for sharing 🤘
Thanks for the video. Very informational for me. I sold my black Cort G254 which was 18 years with me. Didn't like it's color (completely black), 5-positional switch also was no so perfect. So no sense for an investment. Now am looking for a quality HSS strat which has not dark neck, and not dark body. And also jack input hsould not be at the bottom-right of the guitar. So my search is pretty limited. I definitely like how squiers and fenders look and they're some kind of a standard of stratocasters. But for the same price there possibly can be better choices.
You guys have more choices than this old man. We didn't have no Squier Classic Vibe, Pro Tone, MIM, Strats as alternatives. We had cheap Japanese (back then they were cheap) guitars as alternatives to buying the REAL thing. It was all (the real thing) or nothing! All the best and enjoy that CV Strat!
I have the exact same guitar that you're using in the same color too! I absolutely love it! And the bridge is something I want to rip out as well! Gives me a headache whenever I hear it.
Yeah I’ve played a few Squier classic vibes. I don’t think they measure up to Fenders but they are solid (I think it varies from one to the next) Yeah the Strat bridge pickup can be disappointing if you want to play heavier stuff (in that case I’d play a different guitar lol) but I like it a lot for funk. It can be good for soloing with fuzz/distortion (Hendrix, Frusciante, David Gilmour, Eric Johnson, etc.)
I completely understand you when it comes to OCD with differently colored woods haha. I have a Schecter C-1 SLS Elite that is a great guitar BUT the color of the woods on the back doesn't match at all and it was bothering me soooo much. Oh well, gotta pay a little bit more attention when buying the next guitar.
Huh. I didn't even know there were Chinese Fenders. I have a Japanese Fender and it's amazing, but I also have a Classic Vibe, and it's really great - I prefer it to my Mexican Fender, in fact. (These are Jazzmasters, however, I expect my opinion would be the same with Strats).
The classic vibe series are still great guitars but theyve really cut back on them while constantly going up in price. QC is all over the place, hardware is feeling noticeably cheaper, lacquer cracks seem to be the norm... i got my CV 50s strat and tele in 2017 and 18 i believe, both for just barely over 300€, and that was when they still had brass saddles on the tele and all that good stuff.
My Squier Contemporary Jaguar HH ST feels better, weighs less, and plays better than my 2018 FENDER Blacktop Jaguar. The frets on the Fender were poorly cut. Pau Ferro doesn't matter if I don't want to play it. I don't think I'll ever buy a guitar over 600 dollars ever again. It's just not worth it to me with CNC machines making the quality differences so minimal.
wow!! I really do think the budget guitar world is changing a ton. Especially with the direct "off brand" companies like squire. idk what it is! But im here for it 🔥
yall i swear im having a Mandela effect moment 😭 could have sworn it was SQUIRE for my entire life. needless to say, title edited.
i inherited my aunt's squier strat when she passed away. beautiful tone and easy to play and lots of sentimental value
😭 thats so beautiful dude

Great video! I am a beginner and I just ordered a Squier Classic Vibe 70's Strat. HHS. I didn't learn as a teen. I am ready to learn now.
I bought this week a 1995 USA strat I was alwayas looking into squiers or mexican never ever dreamed of buying and American but here we are !

wow! Great to know!!
P.S. Nice guitar, excellent playing. Rock on dude🎸,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video brother! I was on the edge, you tilted me in the right direction man, I am getting this! :D
bro you can just lower the bridge pickup a bit, or raise the neck, or a bit of both
will try that out! Maybe make a vid about it 👀
You could always change the bridge pickup to a Seymour Duncan Twang Banger which is a strat pickup that sounds like tele or a Dimarzio Sds-1 which sound like a p90. Btw the video was pretty entertaining & thats a sweet looking strat
thanks dude! That’s great info for when i’d wanna change the pick ups. will look into it!
I truly believe that it is not the guitar but the person playing the guitar.

Its right there on the headstock not Squire but SQUIER.
😂
i’m so blind 😭🤦♂️
I have the exact same guitar that you're using in the same color too! I absolutely love it! And the bridge is something I want to rip out as well! Gives me a headache whenever I hear it.
i wonder if i were to swap pick ups if id still hate it LOL. i could very much just hate a bridge pick up sound

very convincing to get a squire strat over a mim fender strat
the mim strat was what I was aiming to get! But I was really in a pinch to get a strat and this got me.
Eventually id prob end up getting a MIM!
I completely understand you when it comes to OCD with differently colored woods haha.

Changing my opinion on the squier already 👀
SAMEEE
Does this Squire have the annoying, glossy sticky neck?
unfortunately yes. hated that about my fender thinline so i sanded it. might do it for this strat too

interesting!! I’d love to compare the 2017 model and this one to see how different they are.
Makes me wanna get one now
i want your tele 👀
keep up the good work man👍👍👍👍
i ordered one right away
thats AWESOME!! Love that. Hope you like it!
I like the Starcaster better I think it has a better sound than my Fender Mexican Strat and my Infinity strat
imma get one
do it!!
My Squier Contemporary Jaguar HH ST feels better, weighs less, and plays better than my 2018 FENDER Blacktop Jaguar. The frets on the Fender were poorly cut. Pau Ferro doesn't matter if I don't want to play it.

“That plastic feel”…….because…you know….its plastic😂
SQUIER :| not squire
At least spell it properly.
