rafael has at least a vision, To form a great and young team.If these guys play together for another 3 years, they will be at their peak as 23-25 year olds
Memphis is so silly for letting him go! Last year in the playoffs he was what they needed to win I have no doubt the lakers would have lost if he was playing
Stone has done more to make Cleveland Cavaliers a playoff team than he has for the Rockets. Trading them Jarrett Allen who became an All Star and passing on Mobley for low IQ Jalen. Probably Stone did not notice how clueless Jalen is. They are on the same wave length.
OK, I thought that I would grade Rafael Stone as a GM by grading the current players and his major trades...First of all, this is definitely his team now as all the players have came under him. Second, you have to take in count that Westbrook and Harden forced the rebuild along with Daryl Morey's poor handling of the Rockets' assets and player personal moves. Rafael Stone had to completely remake the Rockets and to this date here is his roster graded by me with draft assets before and after: Draft assets before: Daryl Morey had traded away 4 of the next 7 years of first rounders (2021-2027) (2021 swap, 2024, 2025 swap, 2026) but he had top 4 protection on three years and top 10 protection on 2025. This was a very big factor in choosing to strip the team down completely and save some of those 1st round picks, which resulted in Jalen Green. Then with 2 years of (what everyone calls tanking...I call rebuilding) they got Jabari Smith Jr. and Amen Thompson...A very smart move to begin with for Stone and the Rockets. (I am not counting 2nd rounders even though they have value). A+ Alperen Sengun C
@@garybankston9319 Well Gary, but maybe you don't understand what I was doing. I graded Stone on the quality of the draft picks and the way they are playing for the Rockets as young NBA talent during a ongoing rebuild. As far as the veterans FAs on what they have brought to the Rockets' rebuild this season. If you can't see the success in his 3 seasons of rebuilding compared to other NBA rebuild throughout NBA history...then you are blind. Stone has the Rockets way above the rebuilding average grade. So okay I will grade them: D Daniel Theis
Landale was plan C or D. Stone tried to get Brook Lopez and was looking at other centers but none of them panned out, so he signed Landale as a stopgap at $8M per year. Stone had to meet the minimum cap requirements of the NBA and that did the trick. He is using him just like he did with John Wall, but he also sighed him to 3 more non guaranteed years for the same purpose, which makes that signing more valuable to the Rockets and for other teams that may need the same plus he can be used to match salaries in future trades. Now that Stone got Steven Adams for next year it will be interesting how he handles Landale.
