You made my day! I just received an old garden tractor. I don't need another mower, but I sure do need this! I have a new Grandson, and another grandchild on the way. Plenty of property to run this on! I love this project. Thanks for sharing! You motivated me to get this old tractor going asap!
this will help me alot!! im wanting to build a realistic looking trackless train with a working whistle. its in the planning stage. i want to build a tender for the air compressor to sit in which i think its fitting considering that the tender on a steam locomotive held the fuel. the air compressor will power the whistle and ill have a vaulve or a string or something to blow the whistle. i want ro build 3 short green pullman styled passenger cars and a caboose making it so that it looks authentic.
Thanks. Glad you liked it. I built all the cars from metal and wood that I cut and pieced together. I built the frame of the engine around a riding lawn mower. You can see all the build videos here: ruclips.net/video/CzpJrXxrcjI/видео.html
Great idea...but I didn't even draw them up for myself as I kind of built it as I went...and since I don't have it any more, I don't even know the dimensions that I used at this point either. Sorry. I never thought about duplication of it when I was building it cause it didn't know if it would even work. 🙃🤪
@@animalsareamazing4744 I got a lot of metal from home depot...but also ordered some pieces from a metal supplier in my area. The wheels i got from harbor freight but you could find better ones on Amazon actually.
Hi can you remember the size of flloor on the carriages. Is that a 4foot sheet of ply the lenght of the floor , Have a thomas train built but need carriages Thanks for any help
Thanks Rick. In video two you can see a little more detail of the frames for the cars. ruclips.net/p/PLMeqqGcr2KNR6qbNsfFGAzGBJ0HdpEJav basically, the front wheel is connected to the hitch, so as the hitch is pulled left and right, the wheels turn left and right like on a car...then there is a long piece of steel that is linked from the front wheels to the back wheels to turn them at the same angle as the front wheels turn...this helps the cars to track in the same line as the car in front of it. The difficult part is that the angle of the inside wheel turns at a different angle as the outside wheel. This video shows better how that works: ruclips.net/video/sVEjb-YgjhQ/видео.html You'll notice the connection closest to the wheels is where you play with the angle. Those pieces shouldn't be parallel with the wheel but turned in a little bit which will allow for the inside wheel to turn to a great degree while the outside wheel is turned to a less degree: ruclips.net/video/Ybl6hcvV8FY/видео.html Anyway, hope that helps a little.
I attached the alternator below the seat deck on the side of the frame so that the pulley for the alternator was in line with the mower pully. I then added an additional pully on a spring to create the tension and ordered the size belt I needed.
Thanks for asking. Currently, I have someone with first right of refusal and they plan to let me know in a couple weeks. If that falls through, I will let you know.

That's awesome. You'll have to send me pics or a video of how it turns out. :)
@@dceskater I sure will! Mostly, it will be a winter project. One big project ahead of this. ;) (another tractor actually).
Omg this is exactly what i was looking for!!!!!
That looks awesome. 👍
Thanks!

That's epic
How much did it cost you to build ? Outstanding work you've done it looks great !
It was around $4k. I got the tractor used for less than $200, but the steel, wood, and electric stuff started to add up.
@@dceskater ok thank you

I'm pretty sure the car floors were 3 foot by 5 foot. Each bench was about 18 inches deep which left 2 feet of floor space between benches.
@@dceskater
Thanks for that ,
Do you still have that train if it's for sale how much do you want for it
Sorry, no the train found its way to a new home last summer 2021.
Super interested in purchasing also located in Minnesota we have a golf cart dealership and this be a cool edition
Sorry, I had already promised it to another church back in May.

You should make a trackless train house!
How much is the train?
I sold this years ago. sorry.
I just wanted to see if you had any trains for sale at this time? 01-07-2024
Thanks, but no. I only built the one.
The comments were turned off on the other video. How did you end up hooking the alternator up to the mower pulley.
I attached the alternator below the seat deck on the side of the frame so that the pulley for the alternator was in line with the mower pully. I then added an additional pully on a spring to create the tension and ordered the size belt I needed.
Did you sell it?
Yes.
How much did you sell it for? It’s a beauty
Thanks. I wasn't looking to make money on it, so I got about what I put in on parts.
I want to buy it but i'm from Chile ☹
That's a long way to ship it. 😉
I sold it last year anyway, so I don't have it anymore.
Can I buy your train I em Really interested in it
Sorry, I sold it back in August of 2021.

No, sorry, injust built this one.
How much to build me a train like this? I was looking to do kids parties in the future.
Thanks, but I only made the one and don't have time to make another. There was a guy who made them and sold them for about $14K
Are you still selling this train? Our church might want it.
Thanks, but no. The train has a new home already!
@@StPaulWeston thank you I will build one for our church. We use it as an outreach in the community.
