I literally mow the grass of a black man who is a multi millionaire. He's offended by the idea that people honestly believe he isn't able to be what he is due to the color of his skin. And there are millions of people just like him who were accountable for themselves and made good choices. Its not about black or white, its about dedication and hard work. Thanks for always preaching the truth brother.

Nicest guy ever he doesnt look down on me for mowing his lawn and I dont envy him or hate him for it.
Now his wife is a different story she does not like us at all.
I grew up with nothing, in the highest crime city in America. In one of the poorest areas of it.
My dad left when I was 9 by 11 years old I was in and out of childrens homes and juvenile facilities, until I was 17 and joined the US Army so I could jump out of planes and blow stuff up(my reason for joining) and look at me know my own small business, 2 amazing children, a wife that puts up with my BS and a youtube channel with over 5,000 subscribers.
Life is good, all without help from anyone.

I couldn't have said it better myself brother, dedication and lots of hard work and anyone can be anything they want and have anything they want but unfortunately their all just lazy and worthless and they think everything should just be given to them without doing anything but I know that when someone gives me something it's good and all but you won't ever have that sense of pride in yourself for actually wanting something and going out and working your ass off to get what you want which instills you with pride and satisfaction and self worth.

I have had a run in with the law and they came down on me like a ton of bricks. It stuck. Well, that and never buy a bicycle from a fat guy.... but whatever. You have the power to change your life, and only you can do it. Once we realize these simple mantras it becomes easy. No self pity, no handouts, just honest hard work. Integrity. Honesty. Confidence. Motivation. Shit happens, fine. Move on. You're doing that. Just a bump in the road. I used to work my butt off to get paid 700$ a month. We came to the US 6 years ago. My brothers and I all had jobs until my younger brother lost his job recently because of the pandemic. We have a beautiful house. We have 3 cars. We have everything we could have asked for and more. I'm grateful and thankful that I got to call this country my home. Thank you Mr. Calhoun! People are lucky if they take ownership of their own life, blaming a system, or a color, or political party is only giving the power over your life or destiny to something or someone else. I was raised "Life is what you make of it..." and while they were divorced my whole life with both parents. Maybe that is the definition of growing up with privilege.

    My mom was a stripper.
She had friends that used to kiss me when i was 9, when i used to visit her.
Lucky my mom left when i was three, and i only visited her some times.
I am happy my dad raised me.
    I have 2 sisters and a brother.
My older sister stayed with my father till she was in her late teens.
Then she moved in with his second wife that divorced my father.
The two younger siblings was raised by my real stripper mother.
Later in my older sisters early 20s she moved to live with our stripper mother.
When my dad married the second wife she was always trying to kill herself.
She was a good mother, but a bit crazy trying to kill herself.
When i was 10 my dad married a third women.
She was a bad drug addict.
Me and my older sister was always finding her drug shots in the trash.
My dad put me, my older sister and my little brother into a military school.
I was in that military school from age 11 to age 14.
My dad took all three of us out to the place his third wife was from, Alabama.
    We was from Indiana.
    Its was a culture shock.
But i fit in with the country Alabama people pretty fast.
I loved playing out in the country.
I started working when i was 12 in the military school childrens home.
When the other kids was playing, I was making money.
Mowing grass, and delivering news papers.
After i left the home i was working in the summer when i was not in school.
My sister left to live with the second step mother.
My brother started robbing houses, so my dad sent my brother to our first real mother.
The third wife had already left before my dad took us out of the home.
I started working on farms cutting flowers, weeding around watermelons, and sorting potato's.
I started buying my own cloths and gas for the motorcycle i had.
When i was in the tenth grade my dad lost his job, so i quit school to work, or i was going to starve.
He lost the house he was buying.
So he moved in with his third wife.
So i had no place to go.
Lucky i made friends with a Native American boy in school.
We used to hang out in the woods and explore.
He showed me some caves on the side of the mountains we lived on.
So i decided to move into one of the caves.
I lived in the caves at night, and worked during the day.
    I was making $17 a day.
It was good enough to survive.
My brother came to visit when i was around 20 years old.
My brother asked me to hang out with one of his friends he knew who lived in Alabama he wanted to visit.
My brother started messing with his friend when he was driving, and he accident drove off the mountain.
When the car was flipping, i fell out the back window that got smashed out.
The back of the car landed on me and broke 8 of my ribs, and collapsed one of my lungs.
I was able to go home in a few days.
I was in the news paper because they had to air lift me in a helicopter.
My only time getting to ride in a helicopter and i was not awake, Damn.
I did try and wake up when i was laying on the ground, but i passed back out.
I do remember three guys standing around me for the short time i woke up.
The next time i woke up i was in the hospital.
The guys sister was standing over me looking at me.
She asked me if i was ok , ahahahahahah.
    Funny thing to ask.
So a few weeks go by and i am out working again.
When i was out working at a glass shop i started working at, My brother stole my motorcycle and wrecked it.
He didn't tell me he wrecked it.
So i went out to ride my motorcycle and the front end was bent, and caused me to wreck.
I broke my arm, both collar bones, smashed my hand and cut the end of one of my fingers off, and broke a finger.
I was in the hospital for 3 months.
When i got out and went back to the cave, all my stuff was stolen.
    I didn't have much.
Was a camp stove, a few pots and pans, a few cloths, and a hatchet.
Lucky my hatchet was still on the motorcycle in a back pack i kept tied to the back to carry some stuff.
So now i have nothing but a wrecked motorcycle and a hatchet, and the hospital cloths they gave me, because they had to cut the cloths i was wearing off me.
My brother stole my motorcycle again, and this time blew up the engine.
When i tried to start it, oil was pouring out of the tail pipes.
My brother destroyed my baby, and my only way to get around and work.
So i met up with my dad and he asked me if i wanted to move back to Indiana.
I said, Might as well, nothing is going on here.
So i bought a few cloths with what money i had , and left back to Indiana.
I moved into my moms basement and slept on a sleeping bag.
    I found a job in a week.
The people was laughing at me at work because my cloths was old used cloths.
I was walking three hours a day to work, and three hours a day back home every day.
The second week i bought a bicycle, and then it only took me 45 minutes to ride to and back from work.
    I bought my own food.
I paid my mother $50 a week to sleep in her basement.
And no, it was not a finished basement.
It was a block basement with a dirt floor.
But better then the cave i was in.
    I was making $160 a week.
I felt like i was rich.
One day when i was at work somebody stole most of my stuff out of my moms basement.
My older sister tried to take my hatchet, one of the things they didn't steal.
But i confronted her and took my hatchet back.
Then i found a house to buy, when i was out hanging with my mother.
I left my mothers house and started making payments.
Now i live in the old house i bought, grow a garden and fix the house up little by little.
My next step is to buy another house out in the country and sell the house i live in.
I am a country guy, and i need nature.
But i survived all the bad things that happened, and i am stronger for it.
One of the biggest things i think i did for myself
I never started smoking, drinking or doing drugs.
Because i always felt that would wast the money i needed to survive in a healthy life.
    My younger sister is dead.
By the people she hung around.
The other two don't work, and are drug addicts.
I did spend much money on them thinking i could save them.
It just enabled them to stay drug addicts while not having to work.
The best thing i can do is live my life.
And let them find their way.
I struggled enough, i don't need to struggle anymore because they don't want to try and better themselves.
They all live have lived on welfare most of their lives.
All the things i went through, i never decided to be on welfare.
I got a job and worked till i had the things i needed to live.
    ;)

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, you keep those less fortunate than us in yours. Every day above ground is a good day. It's a chance to make a difference in someone's life, just as you have in mine.

You went from being an ex con, to becoming successful and raising a beautiful American soldier. As a veteran myself, I thank you and your son for his service. Without parents like you, we wouldn't have the men and women that we do in the military.

Used to sleep in the same bed with my dad. Water was shut off not heat no electricity. Cold ass winters with space heaters. Lost our cabin. That was 5 years ago. My mom tried to take everything from my pops. Worked so hard to get out of the ditch we were in. 15 now and started my own business made 30 grand this summer doing lawn care. Boats snowmobiles trucks. Your videos make me think about how my life was when I was younger and you make me feel like I’m not alone thanks for sharing your story man

Great job, man. I say man, not young man because I believe you have earned that title. Don't forget where you came from and keep doing what you're doing. The only person who can hold you back is you. It's the same person who can hold you accountable and the same person who can become great. I'm sure you make your father proud. We need more folks like you to keep this American dream going

Yea adam my life has been riddled with trouble, addiction, being a felon and all the struggles that come with that, depression, anxiety, poor decisions, and doing time in prison myself. Im 33 years old and i finally got my shit together. Im gonna start a youtube channel soon to tell my story to help others get ahead the way i did it. Its not a smooth road and im not perfect by any means but helping others will help me to stay focused! Your story sounds like mine with a few different twists but nevertheless i still struggle to stay ahead and alwayz will. Without struggle there will be no progress 💯

This brought tears to my eyes.
My sons 12, me and his ma have been in and out of rehabs. We’ve been separated after 10 years of marriage 5 years now. Mom is in right now. I’m back to work as a union sheet metal worker. Mom is getting clean. I am getting my life together and so is she. I’m about to propose and me and my girl have our first baby on the way. My son and my daughter have woken me up from a deep dark place and I couldn’t have done it without them. Much love Adam Calhoun.

Wrong it is earned brother. You can call it rented if your say careless and to lazy to bust your butt. It’s not going to be handed to you. And 99% of the time the kids that have it all given to them that never have hard times loose it all.
