You work by my first job when I was 18 in Port Newark berth 36 with Donjon Marine. I'm from Texas & my dad got me into operating heavy equipment starting there & it's almost 20 years now
That's great info for the new people. Nice to know you came up the ranks through the hawse pipe. I give a lot of respect for you guys. Peace brother Willy. 🤙✌
I would imagine that you have to do so much thinking on the fly, in close quarters to other ships, you have to worry far less about being replaced with AI.
thanks a lot!!! Another thing: Do you think there is a true demand of tugboats captains? Or is there a strong competivity and might have to wait long time before a chair becomes vacant? Not only speaking in the US but still, any information welcome of course :D Really hope to get an answer on this!! Love your vids man and thanks a lot for everything!
I would say start calling where you applied to. Somebody got to give you a shot! Start with the port that’s closest to you and move out from there. Hope that helps
Deckhands current average pay ranges from as low as 43k and up to around 60+K a year depending on location. For Tug captains the low end starting out is 60K and top earners are closer to 160K or more again depending on location and experience. The majority range between 70K to 120K yearly. It's a job in high demand and has good growth opportunities.

Im going to have 4 months of engine room sea time. And a level of security clearance. Is that good enough to get hired to a tug?
It should be. Thanks for watching 🤙

If you have enough time you might be able to sit for your 200. You pretty much have to have a 200 for Tugs
Yes. Ty. I thought being a felon was the best applicant.
