Awesome stuff, man. My dad used to operate a 75 foot Vietnam era landing craft, tug & barge. From the age of 11, I could dock her by myself. Watching this brought back some good memories from the old days. I’m a pilot now, airplanes, but my heart still yearns for the sea. Godspeed and calm seas to you. -Dallas

As someone who's been looking into working on a tug thanks to your videos, I was wondering what your work schedule is like. Do you have times that you're "active" each day, of is it purely a "when needed" sort of thing? Sorry for the dumb question, I'm still learning a lot!

Morning Skipper! another great video. Those winch lines are they that dyneema stuff? Very smooth and can take the equivalent of the same diameter wire rope. it was just coming in when I left. Some of the old boats I worked on where direct acting ( no gear boxes) and starting was done well moored up and hold on tight. After 15 mins the chief would bring them back to stop then it was time to go to work. Fair winds skipper!

Hey now: thx for the early morning BayWay video. Why is all that water coming off the ship thru the hawsepipe? See that on S.F. Bay but always curious. Also, when you’re attached to the port bow, are you helping with turns? Or slowing the ship down? Always interested in what you do.

Hey Will, can you break down some of the costs? Not asking for exact numbers but generally how much these ships pay. Is it by the hour? Is it flat rate? Just curious. Nice video with the sunrise. If you ever head down to Norfolk, let me know. I live on Fort Story at the mouth of the Chesapeake. I would love to provide an outside shot of your tugboat.

Thanks for the ride along, Will. Now is a regular part of my morning coffee I bring up a vessel finder and keep track of where the boat is and what it's doing.

Another fun watch. The night to day was excellent. Thanks. From the Tugs POV, is there any difference between handling a tanker vs cargo? It seemed like the tanker was a bit more compliant to the tugs maneuvering.

Hey Now! Love the early morning video! Quick question what engines are you running in the tug you are on? My favorite engines were EMDs. Before you started them you had to open each cylinder to blow the condensation out then secure the cylinders back for each engine. Then when you started them you had to wait to let them get to a safe operating temperature usually about 30 to 45 minutes. Of course this was back in the 80s. Thanks again and safe travels.

Cool video. I work in the refineries down in Houston. Didn’t recognize any of the scenery so I was able to look it up. That’s the Bayonne bridge, so New York / Jersey area.
