Hey Jeff, thanks again for getting my TronXY Pro 2 on Marlin. I've since adapted a Thingiverse direct drive setup (carriage only) so that anyone can print TPUs now. Works surprisingly well although I didn't do the real donkey work, I just modified the existing Ender 3 design (which is excellent) for the TronXY by moving the CofG 15 mms so it lines up and added a buffer to hit the X-stop.
I have the same printer and love tinkering with it. I'd like to try out Marlin and you have helped me out with getting started. Thanks! I like to use OctoPrint and Tronxy Firmware has some issues with it. I get failed prints all the time.
Tip: Be aware the board will not reflash the same software again to avoid doing this every time the printer starts and risking to brick your printer. Using the same version you will not hear 6 times the two beeps leaving you thinking something is wrong. Solution: Rename another version as the one you are installing, flash that one (with beeps) and then rename your original file and try again. The firmware you want to install must be called update.cbd. It doesn't matter if it's the original tronxy or a version of marlin, anything different will do. Reload EPROM settings to be sure your version has the settings you programmed in Marlin.
Great video, I am not sure what the big stress on "bricking" is I can't understand why Tronxy don't make these a little more easily accessible through their website, still learning about the process used, I was looking for the documentation that demonstrated the loading of update.cbd, I wonder if you could place an executable for the STM32 to dump the flash on boot
It's actually quite easy to brick these now.You can backup, Unfortunately this method for loading firmware no longer works on recently shipped Tronxy printers. The firmware load method has been changed.
Hey Jeff, I have a question. When building the Marlin on the v6 191017 board, what kit are you using to compile? Or what board are you selecting? I watched your build videos but it never states what kit or board to select to build
Hi Jeff I did email support and the said that if I update my .cbd i will haved noautarization and block the board and printer will be unusable. any sugestion.
Hi, please advise. In my tronxy xy 2 pro I had Marlin. The printer was mistaken. I requested the original firmware from tronxy support. and according to their instructions, which is the same as yours, recorded it. The bug was not in the marlin firmware and I would like to load it back but it doesn't work. When I put the update.cbd file on the sd card and turn on the printer, the tronxy firmware is loaded immediately. You have no idea what to do with it?
i was thinking about adding another fan to blow fresh air over the motherboard. i want to install it on the spot that is already their for a fan.. dont know why they did not put it their btw. could i simply hook up a 24v fan directly to the power supply or do i also need to put something in to limit the current to it ?
This procedure does not work for me. I have an XY-3 Pro, maybe it is a newer version? my board is a CXY-V6-191017. I put the .cbd or .bin file and it turns on normally, it never updates.
I have the X5SA 500 2E. It has the cxy-v9-200415. I can not find any information about this board in regards to Marlin. Honestly can't find much info about the board at all. Do you have any insight?
Hi Jeff . I got some issues with Marlin firmware and i want to go back to original software . Unfortunately I didn’t backed up my software and now I am stuck on Marlin . I got the same printer like you with a v6 board non Titan extruder . I emailed tronxy and they come back to me saying that they are in Holliday and they will come back to me after 18 Feb wich it’s crazy I can’t wait that much . Can you please, please , please send me your update.cbd file ? I want to go back on the original firmware as on Marlin my z offset it’s always changing. I heated the bed to 70 nozzle at printing temperature , level the corners of the bed , set z offset properly , did the auto bed level , saved the settings first print all ok . On the second one or third one the z offset height all of the sudden it’s to low or to high and I have to baby step every start of the print to make sure that first layer it’s good. On my FLSun qq s my z offset never varies. After I did the bed level and set the z offset stays like that until I change the nozzle …. Do you know why it’s this happening? What can I do to get same z offset all the time . I got the new glass bed and black bed level sensor , direct drive with dual z rod , new stronger springs for the bed all the good stuff on it but it runs sheet ……
im needing to go back to tronxy from marlin 2.0bugfix as dont work for me but lost my file to flash bavk can u help i have same board bed size as u non titan file ready put to sd card be pirfect plz say can help

I know this is a six month old post but I just wanted to provide an answer for anyone that has this problem. Parity must be set to EVEN on both the computer and the Flash Loader. I found it will not work without this setting.
Hi Jeff, unfortunately something went wrong with my Marlin upgrade, and I was not smart enough to make a backup beforehand. Could you share your file with me? We have the same model (CXY-V6-20191017)
Thanks for the answer! I also deal with him and am interested in what is better. This is еthe constructor for me, on which you can study 3D printing. Raspberry is coming soon and I'll put Octoprint on it. By the way, the Z-level adjustment began to be done using the dipstick for adjusting the car valves, it turns out to be done very accurately.
@@jeffs3dcorner Agree with Jeff no reason to change firmware if you have no issues, I own 2 Chitu boards they are cheap, 1 for marlin firmware & 1 for Chitu firmware. best way I think. My Stock board stays stock & my backup board uses Marlin.
great fantastic I would give you the nobel prize, nobody explained this procedure on youtube thank you very much
Not my method. I'm just sharing it. But thank you.

Personally marlin. But lots of people do like Chitu.

At the 7:30 mark in the video are your locks green or red?
a few things to check, unplug USB from printer add to another usb port to change Com Port, check jumper's on board, double check what you changed.
