Welcome to RUclips, always nice to see more Tolkien RUclipsrs. I of course am going for both editions, the Deluxe edition is possibly one of the nicest Silmarillion editions published to date and I am looking forward to adding both editions to my collection.
I've ordered this edition yesterday, after watching a fair amount of yt reviews on different editions in order to decide on which one to buy. And I have to say, your review is by far the best.
Nice video -- you did a wonderful job covering all the highlights of the new edition! :) I just got this for Christmas, and I'm super excited to dive into it. The illustrations are a great touch, and help give it a mood of 'yay! storytime' :D
Wonderful video! This has done the best job of really convincing me that I want this edition! And totally agreed about wanting a version of the book you actually feel inspired to read. Sometimes TOO pretty stuff throws me off!
Thank you for this review. I don't yet have The Silmarillion in its original language and this has convinced me to go for this edition. It's very beautiful, yet readable.
With the quarter-bound leather addition, there have been a few printing errors including my own copy which I am having a replacement. I liked the standard copy of lord of the rings so much , I have three copies I do like both additions equally
I recently bought this and read it whilst hanging upside down in a sensory depravation tank.once the lions had left I simply squawked a balloon and let the gong get fizzy, as it were.
Beautiful video! I ordered the deluxe edition because I love The Silmarillion. But I may eventually get the standard edition to go with last year's standard edition of LOTR.
Great first video! However I found the frame rate to be a bit...slow. I had to check my playback settings to make sure it wasn't playing at a slower speed. To answer your question, I have the 2007 standard hardback (Tolkien's painting for the dustjacket) and the 1998 illustrated edition. So I'm 'set' for The Silmarillion for my library :) If I DIDN'T have those, I'd likely either go for the standard edition of this, or the standard edition of the OTHER illustrated edition, the one with artwork by Ted Nasmith that came out last year (or the year before....?)
@@teawithtolkien It was more the.....speed or frame rate, if that makes sense. Just something to check out, if you do videos elsewhere besides RUclips :)
I have no way of justifying buying this beautiful book. At least not until I read my brand new copies of the Hobbit, LotR and Silmarillion in hardcover that I just bought little over a month ago. If I read all of those (I had never spent so much in books in one day) and end up lovinv them, I'll but this as a reward 😅
Oh I will look into that! I did type up my full script and it’s currently in the description but I will also work on figuring out how to enable subtitles asap!
I looked up the deluxe version and I could only find it in England. Do you know if it is coming to the US or can we order from them? I probably will stick to the regular version though.
For some reason, William Morrow waits a year to release the Deluxe version in the US, so it will be out next November, however there is nothing to stop you buying it from a UK online bookseller, a lot offer shipping to the US.
@@teawithtolkien I've read the book but I struggled with The Beleriand Chapter and the Elves "races" it was hard to keep track of all of them even though I checked often the family tree that was in the back. Who left for Aman , the ones who didn't , the others who stayed in Beleriand, the ones who didn't see the trees etc. Thanks in advance 😄.
Welcome to the RUclipss!
Thank you!! 🥹😭
Mine will be here tomorrow and I’m so excited I can’t even stand my excitement
It’s such a gorgeous copy!

Thank you so much!
I was actually on the fence about getting this edition... until I watched this of course! Thanks for the wonderful video!
Thank you so much for watching! I hope you enjoy your new copy. :)

Thanks for watching! Yeah I feel like this edition strikes a good balance between beauty and practicality.
i just got this last week. love it
It's the standard edition for me. Love that lime edging!
I’ve opted for this and the standard illustrated LotR editions.
I think the leather ones I’d be just too tempted to just have as shelf ornaments
Such a great choice honestly.
Thank you for this review. I don't yet have The Silmarillion in its original language and this has convinced me to go for this edition. It's very beautiful, yet readable.
Glad I could help!
This ones on my Christmas list. Great video, mellon!
Thank you my friend!
Thanks for the great review, what a splendid looking book
Thanks indeed for this Silmarillion review,
Hopefully, there will be more videos about Tolkien books💐
Absolutely!
Yay for you joining RUclips!
Thank you for the warm welcome. :)
Thankyou so much for this, I'm fixin to buy this book and I really wanted to actually SEE someone opening it, looking at it etc etc 😅
It’s such a nice copy!! It’s my favorite now.
Saw on Twitter that you had a YT channel, came right over. Thanks for this!!
Thank you for your support! 💕
Getting this! I've been waiting for this to come out for a while!
Me too! And I was not disappointed once it finally arrived.
I am SO excited to get mine!!!
I’m so excited for you!! It’s such a special edition.

I have now the copies of the Delixe edition and just purchased the Harper Collins edition of the standard Edition in this video
Wonderful!
So beautiful! Thank you for the video. I think I'll by this one to match my single volume LOTR with Tolkien's illustrations 😊
Sounds perfect! Thanks for watching.
I loved this edition! I have the standard one for both the Silmarillion and LOTR and they are both wonderful.
Looks amazing, thanks for sharing! Might have to get this.
Thank you, friend!
Lovely video - I'll be sticking with my cheap paperback but it does look very nice for those who can afford to splash out
Thank you for watching!
I recently bought this and read it whilst hanging upside down in a sensory depravation tank.once the lions had left I simply squawked a balloon and let the gong get fizzy, as it were.
Thanks! Very cool!
I bought one of these. I prefer the standard because the tengwar on the page block is a really cool feature.
I agree, the standard edition is way cooler
That neon-green edging really is a choice 😅 but other than that I am loving how this looks. Is it pretty portable, or is it closer to textbook size?
It’s not much bigger than any other Silmarillion editions. It’s smaller than the single volume LOTR!
Beautiful video! I ordered the deluxe edition because I love The Silmarillion. But I may eventually get the standard edition to go with last year's standard edition of LOTR.
Great video!
Thanks for watching, Joe!

TeaVea with Tolkien
I really enjoyed this!
Ha!
Very much looking forward to get this version.
Is there a way to enable subtitles on your videos? I’m hard of hearing and want to follow along.
Oh I will look into that! I did type up my full script and it’s currently in the description but I will also work on figuring out how to enable subtitles asap!
@@teawithtolkien thank you!! 😁😁😁

It’s available at Blackwell’s which offers free shipping to the US!

Please review The Silmarillion 🙏
Sure thing! Did you have anything in particular you’d like me to cover?

The Prancing Pony podcast is really good, try listening to that. Really helps with a read through of the Silmarillion. Enjoy ☺️
I shouldn’t have watched this because now I want to spend money I don’t need to spend 😅
Relatable 😩
