"Cold Facts" from the Grief Pedigree album. Video directed and edited by Ka. brownsvilleka.com itunes.com/ka/griefpedigree amzn.com/B0078VAFQI / brownsvilleka
Aesop rock actually turned me onto Ka years ago (around the time he released the impossible kid) and this was the first song I listened to. I liked the vibe immediately but when I heard that line I said holy shit lol. Aes mentioned in an interview that Ka was a big source of inspiration as a writer which was dope to hear. I still bump Ka to this day. Incredibly gifted individual
8 yrs later and I still have to say respect to u cos u speaking my language. The Wu got me on that gritty/cinematic/sample heavy type beats and since then I've searched hard for these type tunes. At this moment Ka's track "Argo" got me hooked like a snapper
The best! When my grandmother died, I found KA. And would loose myself in his realness. That was 5 years ago. Still this gives me goosebumps. Jess, London.
I've been listening to ka for a while now close to a year I've listened to almost all his stuff since then. He's honestly my favorite rapper. His style reminds me of a subdued Mfdoom. He says it best on argo "flow aquatic, known alone for my slow hypnotic"
i'm spanish so I have a hard time understanding the lyrics but i can't put in words how grateful i am for this kind of TRUE music endless respect for KA, this is more than talent, this is the human being evolving
"Grew up with good spirited goons now I only see em in tombs or in visiting rooms" - My god this man has bars. Reminds me of DOOM or Earl a bit, but his style is different. One of my favourite artists right now.
Ka has one of the most unique styles I've ever heard. I can't think of anyone who sounds like him. Not only that but he is one of the best writers I've ever heard and his albums are cohesive and the overall vibe makes you kick back and take it all in. I put his stuff on at night when I'm having a hard time sleeping but only the stuff that I've heard a thousand times because anything new would have me sitting up all night trying to figure out everything he did that I missed lol. Such a gifted artist in every sense of the word
This is the best MUSIC I've heard in years. I remember hearing KA once, and only once, on a GZA's Protools. I thought he was incredible then. So good he's active again and putting out music like this. Very excited about this discovery.
as always, ka stays raw. Break through artist, that couldnt be needed more at this low point in this history of the game.... big up everyone viewin this...
I was talking about the feeling that I got anticipating these interesting new beats, bars and adlibs, was reminiscent of when I first listened to DOOM (being introduced to madlib) , not that Ka necessarily reminded me of DOOM but I feel ya, the intricacy of his wordplay and brutal way his rhymes forces u to think is also reminiscent of DOOM.
glad i checked out that pitchfork 2021 top 50 best albums. I love how he doesnt ride the beat although it is the one of the fundamentals of hip hop. This is like spoken word over an ambient track. Im a new fan. This is hip hop evolving
Lyrics so simple and pure you never doubt the personal involvement it what helped him create them. A beat structure and cadence that instills the feeling of success (half way thru a hood day in the hood) then the evening sets in. Never satisified, always got his head on a swivel and a poet laureate of the gutter. One of a kind KA.
yea im feeling this videography and the lyrics match that jungle beat.plus look like he in a jungle!city life is so real, certain places really stain your personality and aspects of creativity.peace to brother ka!
OKay I just checked and he reviewed Knights Gambit. Its the reason why I and many others are here. Dude is sick and now I am promoting him like I am on his street team and shit. Talent needs to get recognized.
I've first herd this track on nrp music back in 2014. Listend to it off and on through the years. And I just barely realized the voice in the background. 2:40
I bought this album after hearing three songs. I have bought only two other albums all year and one of them is Roc Marciano's "Reloaded". This is amazing stuff...

Will never stop bumping KA tunes, no one does it better.
"I own the night, the heat's my receipt" still gets me, what talent.
I keep coming back to it. His music is enthralling and detailed. Gets better and better, I hope he makes more!

Ka is still highly underrated. His lyricism is on another level. Can't be touched!
I'd kill for a Ka/Earl track. Two of the best lyricists to ever put the pen to the pad

Give me three days we celebrate like Christ risen. My favorite line from this joint.
🔥
This track is up there in the top five hip-hop tracks ever IMO. And this is from someone who has consumed a lot of hip-hop over the years.
I would argue best written hip hop song ever. And arguably of any genre.
Nothing better than an addicting beat...

Thank god this type of hip hop is popular again. Been waiting for years for Ka to get his props, he’s got one of the best pens ever.
This is grown hip-hop

Same! I'm currently listening to all of his albums besides Iron Works. I'll give that one to listen in the future.

IMO the King of New York, fuck a resume “the illest psalms written w killer palms” “had a cold heart cuz my apartment was freezing”
"My heart's cold, 'cause my apartment's freezin'!" Much love and respect from Germany!
I havent been inspired by hip hop this raw since MF Doom
I can see a little bit of DOOM in Ka. The rhyme pattern, and his bars that are straight forward but use a lot of metaphors at the same time
+Brandon Standifer Ok i thought i was trippin for a second listenin to that 2nd verse like is that a lil doom? haha

Don't laugh on the ave with a pack of hyenas
Come through with the pride, get attacked with five ninas
Got trapped, now I'm fly, now I'm back with my Venus
The dream is live clean, and good livin'
As free as it seems, but this shit is a hood prison
So we sold that poison like Bivins
Made noise and quietly gave sisters nice ribbons
Fuck them cops and swats with night vision
Give me three days, we'll celebrate like Christ's risen
Grew up with good-spirited goons;
Now I only see 'em in tombs or in visiting rooms
Hold the chrome tight; the beast's on the creep
I own the night, the heat's my receipt
I need peace; all that beef shit is weak
When niggas that talk trash get sweeped in the street
Washed down the gutter
Whatever remains gets tossed 'round your mother
Jump the squares, made 'em crown another
I see your traps and your plots to dead us
Y'all rolling with Kojaks, nigga, I got Berettas
[Hook]
I heat it up with cold facts
I heat it up with cold facts
[Verse 2]
Hood pyrotechnics with no alarms
I blew up the block when I sold them bombs
Little niggas who didn't turn pros is cons
Guns 24 karat, got golden arms
Good metal, don't settle for silver, bronze
Fruits of my labor, I'm building farms
The illest psalms written with killer palms
And a scoundrel mind
But nice, cyphed with anybody down to rhyme
Too much vision, them niggas soundin' blind
They must be in the dark, downing swine
A titan... Yeah, but I'm enlightened
Should build museums from all the shit I'm writin'
Y'all niggas weak, check my speak, start bitin'
I don't speak too much; words' more potent
Live niggas say it with me; herbs, don't quote it
Colt loaded, waitin' for a reason
Praise me when I'm dead, make bread when I'm breathin'
Can't take it when I'm leavin'
Judge me too quick, mistake me as a heathen
Because I had tools, moved weight, and was thievin'
But I was broke, out the gate I was grievin'
Had a cold heart cause my apartment was freezin'
Studied this 30 years, so you could say it's mastered
Thorough nigga, it's in my nucleic acid
