Train signals ignored in Cambridge

- Grand Junction branch crossing Main St. in Cambridge, MA, drivers ignoring signals and stopping on the tracks right in front of the train.
It's common for drivers to continue crossing until a train is immediately in view, but this time the beer truck was blocking their view and the signal.
This is a low-speed connection between the northern and western tracks into Boston, and is typically used only a few times a day. Gates are not required, but some strobe lights to catch distracted drivers' attention would certainly help.
Why would you stop recording?
In my small hometown, the track was used so infrequently that when a train did come, a person came out on foot from the train and waved a flag.
I'm a professional truck driver. If my employer saw me do what those drivers did, i.e. the ABC moving company truck. I would be fired and rightfully so.

If he doesn't stop before an accident he'll end up stopped even longer after an accident having to answer to police, and his employer. Even if he's in the right, it's still a big hassle.

While there should be gates here, I'm not putting this on the crossing design. Those drivers clearly saw the train, which puts them, as well as people nearby or others in the car, in danger. Also, inturupts traffic, both train and road.

This is one reason why most level crossings in the UK have barriers.

That's a really bad design for that RRx. It should have the guard arms.
+Douglas Camus Exactly. The lights can be difficult to see. If the track isn't busy many drivers won't be paying attention. Plus the corners are blind.
Those things that rock back and forth would at least help. Attention grabbers like those other than easily missed lights would probably do wonders.

Only an idiot goes past a railroad crossing when it goes of.
They shouldn't have stopped. That motorist was blocking an intersection illegally, and they deserved to have their vehicle hit and probably destroyed as a lesson.
