  • Some shots of the new Control Room treatment.
It's not finished here... lighting, additional electrical work, painting, and side wall treatments were not completed (not to mention equipment setup). But I thought this was pretty cool, and wanted to share.

Excellent. Looks very much like a studio I did several years ago. The diffusion panel looks like it took quite a bit of work to make, but short cuts lead to bad sound. Excellent job, well done.

Thank you. I'm pretty happy how this song came out. The acoustic guitar is a Steve Stills signature Martin, there's a real Rhodes 73 key electric piano in there (which I played ;)… lots of real live percussion, and the vocal harmonies are very jazzy. I'm proud to have recorded and mixed this one.

It's a bass trap and a space-array. The bass trap (against the ceiling, in red) is 2 inches of absorption material with a 2 inch gap behind that.
    .
Hanging just below the bass trap is a wood space-array, by Auralex. My understanding is that it makes the bass trap work better by directionalizing the sound. Space Arrays are also used to make smaller rooms sound bigger. I'm a little skeptical of the space arrays abilities, but it sure looks awesome.
    .
The bass traps definitely does it's job.

It's an Auralex Elite system. They installed it. You can learn more about it on their website if you are interested.

What kind of reverb are you using for this track? Specifically the rim shot? Analog or DAW?
